  1. While I may not disagree with much of what you are saying, referring to the local paper as the "Urinal Sentinal" is not where I would go with this.
  2. I would not trade Prince for pitching. While the pitching would be better, the hole created in our lineup would be huge. Braun and Fielder make for one of the best 3/4s in the game. The rest of our lineup is too inconsistent to be counted on. Prince is probably #2 in the NL for MVP right now. I can imagine him having a huge 2011 in a contract year too.
  3. Exactly. MlbTradeRumors.com cited this tweet from the Cardinals beat guy today: Here's what Strauss tweeted just a moment ago: Asked about the price tag for Halladay, a club source said: "Give Ricciardi all our minor-league rosters and let him circle any 5 names." If that is truly the case, which it probably is, the Brewers would need to offer at least Escobar and Lawrie plus 3 other decent prospects.
  4. How can you pitch really well for 3 and 2/3 and toss up that meatball...ugh. This series has sweep written all over it.
  5. Great start...9 pitch walk. BTW...I wasn't disagreeing with starting Cat, just batting him 5th. However, with those splits there may be no protecting Fielder tonight anyway.
  6. Was thinking the same thing. Prince will walk 4 times tonight. Cam is starting to heat up a little, I'd rather see him at 5.
  7. For 2010, no way we'd be able to bring back Cameron. Maybe they make the move of Rickie to CF and go with McGehee at 2B with Gamel at 3B or find a 3B and move Gamel to RF. They'd have one hole to fill after finding a home for Gamel. Great work X...my guess is pulling in Boston is the toughest part of that deal.
  8. It sounds like the Jays want a SS prospect and would probably want Lawrie. If you are the Brewers do you deal Escobar, Lawrie and 2 lesser prospects for Halladay? I'm not sure I would do that, but that may be the price. It would make them quite strong for 09 & 10, but things would start to unravel after that. No Hardy in '11, no Prince in '12 and no viable replacements other than Gamel who could be in any number of spots by then...3B, 1B, RF. Does that sound like the market price?
  9. Maybe they would cut us a break after swiping Molitor from us!
  10. Eventually one of these guys is going to run over some kid and someone is going to get hurt. Security needs to be watching these guys.
  11. Supposedly to chew up innings in hopeless situations after our starters fail.
  12. Gallardo checked his third strike after getting pinched the inning before, the ump didn't check with the 1B ump...Sveum gone. Pujols checked a swing...good call, but Randolph hot after the last call...he got tossed.
  13. 37 pitches in the first...5 innings would be a solid comeback after that. Yeesh.
  14. Wow...this is certainly a worst case scenario start for our stud. I hope Braun doesn't call him out after the game.
  15. The bigger question mark for the Crew will be who starts in the Dodgers series on Friday & Saturday. I agree with the Burns-Parra (or Dillard, etc.)-Yo rotation. That way Seth is ready to mop up for whoever blows up on Friday or Saturday. Getting wins on the Yo starts would be huge, then maybe we split the Soup/Loop starts. I'd take 3-3, even 2-4 won't kill us. They just have to hang in there and hope the ship turns post-ASB.
  16. The only thing I get out of all of this is that TH is now ready for that big job with the New York Post...congrats Tom, enjoy the big city. Braun is a stud and really stated the obvious. TH tweaked DM by trying to read between the lines on his comments and blew it out of proportion. DM is probably a little on edge too right now because he wants to do a deal as bad as Braun does, but realizes they just aren't out there or the price is too high. Heck, I'd like them to get a starter too, but those deals just don't exist right now at the right price. It hurts, but unfortunately the appropriate strategy is to sit tight, wait for a deal to emerge or for Bush to come back, Parra to find his brain or a couple of the MIA sluggers to get cooking. The schedule gets easier for awhile after the break. Hopefully by the time they hit crunch time in September, they get hot. Jack Z was great and DM has done a great job too. Nobody's perfect and nobody is flying this ship solo. There are plenty of people behind the scenes that are still there responsible for drafting Yo, Braun, Fielder, etc...
  17. I find nothing wrong with his comments. I think by reading both TH & McCalvy's articles you can get the full picture of what he is saying. He wants to put pressure on DM to do a deal, but seems to acknowledge the difficulty in that. He realizes the Cubs starters were better than ours this weekend...well, they were. McClung & Burns may have value, but they aren't the guys you want out there every fifth day. He has also called himself out in the past. The guy wants to win, and I respect that. Braun may be a guy who talks the talk, but I think he does it in a constructive way that isn't just piling on a teammate. He's simply avoiding the baseball cliches and stating the things that we can all see. I find it refreshing. Plus let's face it...Braun walks the walk.
  18. This team still has the capacity to get hot. If they can muddle around the top of the division and somehow find a way to get hot in September, they will have a shot. It will take a few pieces falling into place. The starting rotation must get solved and someone besides Braun, Prince and Casey need to hit. I'm not even sure we can count on Casey being this hot the rest of the year. Somebody, anybody, find a bat.
  19. We need Bush back, for Parra to find his brain or DM to make a deal. That meatball was a joke.
  20. Infield in? It worked, but are we that worried about not scoring today?
