  1. Weeks Hardy Fielder Hall Jenkins Estrada Braun Hart Pitcher I hope we see that lineup for a large part of the rest of the year starting soon. I'm off to bed, this game is frustrating and certain posters are posting such ignorant nonsense that I might get banned if I keep on posting.
  2. Its so frustrating when a pitcher walks two and should have walked three the previous inning and then you come out swinging at the first pitch the next inning.
  3. Hall had looked good in center tonight until that, heh. Oh well he'll learn. Thats what, 4 defensive mistakes we've made tonight or is it 5?
  4. He's K'd 2.37/9 thats just horrible. He has a .198 BABIP against which says he's just been extremely lucky. He has a 87% strand rate which again isn't sustainable. If you are going to judge 19 IP by ERA/WHIP you are going to have a lot of problems telling whether a pitcher is for real or not. I'll tell you straight up, when you pitch 19 innings, only K 5 guys its nothing but luck when you only give up 12 hits. No pitcher in baseball has ever put up numbers like that. To try to sit here and say we aren't likely to beat Germano is just being negative. This is not some super stud prospect dominating the league or anything.
  5. Probably low but you have to swing at those pitches with 2 strikes regardless.
  6. Germano is not a very good pitcher, that is a very winnable game. You are using the wrong tools to evaluate talent if you are impressed with his season thus far.
  7. Do you actually believe the nonsense you spew or do you just say this stuff to get a rise out of people like Sparky. I'm really curious because it baffles me how anyone can actually believe stuff like this. This is baseball, even if Penny were half as good as you seem to think the underdog still wins a large portion of the time.
  8. Well to be fair if the Brewers had thier A game on this is a 2-0 game, so I dont' really think you can say Capuano is hurt. I think the team went out drinking this afternoon or something because this is silly.
  9. Well the gameday thread isn't the right place for this but I'll just say its obvious you aren't a stats guy. ERA and QS's are not stats I put much value in for judging how good a pitcher is. If Penny keeps on walking almost as many as he K's(which is what he has done other than the 14k game) he will not be successful all year long.
  10. Again this is a case where ERA doesn't tell the story. He has not pitched anywhere near his ERA this season. Sometimes the ball just bounces your way and for the first part of the season that has held true for Penny. He's K'd less than 6 per 9, he's walked more 3 per 9, that is not a recipe for success.
  11. I'm glad tomorrow is a day off because this team is not awake today.
  12. Oh please, Penny is not all that good, other than the one start with 14 K's he's walked as many as he's struck out. One of those cases where ERA doesn't tell the whole story. I don't think we'll win with this lineup but to say we won't win because its Penny is stretching things.
  13. I'm going to bed early tonight it looks like... bad play by graffy, hit by pitch, stupid throw to home letting Kent go to 3rd... this is just bad baseball.
  14. Speed kills... but bad baserunning offsets it thankfully, heh.
  15. You have to call something like that an error, that was just dumb.
  16. It was the top of the 7th, Sheets was cruising and wasn't near his pitch count after 6 IP. You don't give up an out and take out your SP just to try to score a run there. I think bunting is terrible in that situation. You either pinch hit for graffy or let him bat and if he gets on you have a runner in scoring position with 0 outs and you can justify pinch hitting for Sheets. Yes their bullpen is good but you can't let that force your best starter out after just 6 innings, after 7 innings sure but it was just too early to do it.
  17. Hardy has been having back spasms so I assume they are just trying to give him back to back days off to rest it. I think its a good move though I wouldn't go with Gwynn in the OF either, thats a pretty punchless lineup.
  18. Yeah I meant the better of the two. I think Capuano is a better pitcher than Penny. They are pretty similar actually, starting out strong and fading as the year goes on on a regular basis.
  19. Penny had one dominant game and thats pretty much it. His stats outside that game are... 49.2 IP, 45 H, 20 BB, 21 K, 16 ER, 2.89 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 0 HR. A good BABIP against, the fact he's not allowed a HR yet which is just a fluke and good strand rate and one really good game has pretty much driven his stats. Otherwise he's a 4 ERA guy on the year with only 1 more K than BB. This is not a game that we can't win and we have the best pitcher going.
  20. Well i simply don't agree with that, I'm not giving up an out and taking out my best starter who is pitching well in the 6th just to avoid graffanino maybe hitting into a double play. You let graffy hit and if he does somethign with the bat then it makes some sense to pinch hit for Sheets because you have 2 on.
  21. Bunt so that Sheets can try to drive him in? That seems like an odd choice. The odds of grounding into a double play are still pretty small, certainly no greater than the odds of Graffy getting a hit or walk.
  22. Oh well, at least it was a good game. I can stomach losing good close games against good teams.
  23. Come on Jenkins, double and RBI.
  24. please, please bring up Braun soon!
  25. Thats some range out there in the OF, not used to that after the Clark, Jenkins, Lee of the last few years.
