  1. I would imagine Vargas is done after throwing 90 pitches in just 4 innings.
  2. Teams go on bad streaks its just how it is. I think its reasonable to be worried about it but this team isn't as bad as its playing either, just like it wasn't as good as it was playing in April. Hall that really sucked.
  3. A line drive that just misses 3B, a single off the pitchers foot and a bloop single... granted vargas caused some of that damage himself but absolutely nothing is going right for this team right now.
  4. Its Lew Freakin Ford, throw a strike.
  5. Come on Hall, make em pay for hitting the big guy.
  6. I'll go 4-11 from those three today with 2 hits by graffy who starts to turn it around today.
  7. I have a good feeling about this game, we win it 5-3.
  8. Dear Offense, It's time to explode. Thanks.
  9. Hall is the only healthy every day player that I think is really underperforming. Weeks has been playing through pain, Hart is hurt. Fielder, Hardy, Estrada and Jenkins all hitting pretty well on the year. I'm pretty sick of counsellino too, counsell has been about what I expected, no stick gets on base some, decent defense. Graffanino has been completely worthless though.
  10. Being wrong one more time shouldn't bother you much then. Pinch hitting for him was the wrong move, pure and simple. If there had been 2 runners on I could see, maybe even if a runner were on 2nd, but with a runner on 1st its just not a good enough percentage play to waste your SP for a pinch hit. At best its a close call and call Ned an idiot for not doing it is completely out of line and in my opinion and most others in this thread it was the correct move. You have to try to get that 6th inning out of your starter.
  11. You are simply being too result oriented. Putting Dessens in when the game is 4-3 in the 9th is a dumb move but sometimes he still gets a save. It was the right move, it was a bad result. No major league manager pinch hits for Capuano there.
  12. Pulling your pitcher after 5 when he's still low on his pitch count and you have a runner on 1st is not the right move regardless of the results.
  13. Not stupid at all, Capuano still has 1 or 2 innings in him, its simply too early to pinch hit for him especially with Weeks unavailable and Hart hurting.
  14. Lets chip away at this lead, get 2 runs this inning and make it a ball game. I think its stretching things a bit to say he's struggling because he's batting 4th, he's a streaky guy and right now he just isn't seeing the ball that well. Its happened to him in the past and it will happen again in the future I'm sure. I'm just not a fan of trying to blame where he is batting in the order for his problems.
  15. They double switched so he's in the game now and will be up 2nd in the 8th inning.
  16. I dunno, i look at Gwynn and see Craig Counsell with a little higher average and well we already have one too many Craig Counsells in the lineup. Maybe if he starts to show a little double power I could get more excited about him.
  17. Sheets is raking at the plate today, nobody I'd rather have up!
  18. He scored 1 run every 6.22 PA as a leadoff hitter. Reyes scored 1 every 5.75 with a better lineup. Pierre was one per 8.45 PA. Youkilis was a very strong leadoff hitter last year. You don't need speed to lead off.
  19. If Sheets were a winner we'd be up 6-1 here.
  20. Come on Graffanino, you have been even more useless than Counsell this year, make up for it.
  21. It just doesn't matter enough to play a guy just to be leadoff, playing Counsell or Graffanino or Hart leadoff if you have to(not that there is anything wrong with Weeks), makes more sense than playing Gwynn over a better player. Thus it becomes Gwynn vs the other OF's for playtime. Its just silly to play him just because he fits your idea of a leadoff hitter.
  22. The answer to your question is no, we don't need a leadoff hitter. Thus it becomes a battle for Gross, Hart or Gwynn playing vs righties. There is no way I'd play Gwynn just to be a leadoff hitter, he has to earn the job by being better than the other guys.
  23. Yeah Sheets, if you don't go 9 IP with 1 ER at this point you obviously aren't an ace because an ace would find a way.
  24. Can't look at those pitches with 2 strikes Gwynn, have to fight those off.
