  1. Cubs just blew a 5-1 lead in the 9th to lose, at least things are going wrong for both teams on this road trip.
  2. I wouldn't say BA is worthless but its certainly not one of the first stats I'd look at when judging a player, especially over a smaller sample size. For pitching I feel the same way about ERA, its just not that useful of a stat for judging how good a pitcher is, especially over a small sample.
  3. Hamels change up largely neutralizes the righty advantage against him so I'm not as enthusiastic about the all righty lineup as I usually am against him. Lets hope for an early lead and a rainout after 5 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif .
  4. Doesn't bother me too much because I know the other option is even worse than Counsell so far this year. I can't wait to see Braun in that lineup though.
  5. Yes I'm sure they pulled him after 70 pitches because he let two guys on, it couldn't possibly have anything to do with the line drive off his knee, just like I"m sure yesterday Capuano didn't leave early because of his injury and I"m sure Sheets didn't leave his game earlier this year because of his groin after finishing the inning. Give me a break.
  6. I think this game pretty clearly shows we need another real RP. Dessens, Spurling being borderline useless and Shouse only being able to face lefties really hamstrings us in that bullpen. I understand Yost trying to only use one of the two big guys with a four run lead but there just aren't many options left on this team. Pretty sure he left the game because of the pain he was in from pitching through a painful line drive off his knee. I mean give me a break this is the most foolish thing I've seen in a while.
  7. The only thing I can think of is Yost didn't want to shake Turnbow's confidence by pulling him for Cordero... of course letting in 4 ER's probably shook his confidence more than that would have.
  8. Well CoCo should be in this game by this point, I won't defend that, when it was 6-5 he should have been brought in if not sooner. But not bringing Turnbow to start the 8th isn't the worst move in the world, its just funny how no matter what he does you guys @#%$ about it and you even change your opinions about what should be done from game to game.
  9. Last time Turnbow came in to start the 8th with a 4 run lead everyone yelled at Yost about not wasting him... which one is it~ Come T-Bow, get out of it.
  10. His career OPS on the first pitch is .899 vs .737 overall so it seems to work for him. I find it annoying too but It does seem to work.
  11. Ok Hall, put this one away. In other good news, the Mets tied the game up against the Cubs.
  12. grr I hate bad baserunning. Getting caught stealing is fine, it happens but why on earth try to steal 3rd with 0 outs and the best part of your lineup about to come up.
  13. I think its silly to give Bush a quick hook since he's never had any problems late in games. However since he took a ball off his knee and probably doesn't feel the greatest I have no problems at all taking him out early tonight and I'm assuming thats why Yost pulled him. I really like that he went to Wise too, Wise kills lefties with that nasty changeup.
  14. By Mench and Hall hitting HR's I obviously meant Hardy and Estrada.
  15. Nice to see our pitchers actually contribute with the bat this year. Last year they were just terrible.
  16. Wow that was a bad idea with Fielder up next, being on 2nd is good enough with how hard he hits the ball.
  17. Estrada up to an .825 OPS, nice to have that from your catcher.
  18. I predict we win this one with HR's by Hall and Mench. Bush goes 7 strong innings.
  19. Two of those steals were off the pitcher so not really sure where the complaint is. Wright is a good base stealer with an 81% success rate in his career. Estrada doesn't have a great arm but Miller's isn't any better either.
  20. Seems kind of odd letting Perez bat when he's at 105 pitches and you have a 4 run lead. Edit : Then again it certainly worked out!
  21. The fact he's hovering around an .800 OPS even though he's been struggling all year says a lot about his talent level.
  22. Delgado has been prettybad vs lefties the past few years and Alou got hurt yesterday.
  23. Lets beat them so bad they send Perez to the minors just like the last guy we faced! "The New York Mets today recalled outfielder Carlos Gomez from New Orleans (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and optioned righthanded pitcher Mike Pelfrey to the Zephyrs"
  24. This is the game in the series we have to win. Pelfry has been terrible this year.
  25. Hard to complain about a 5-4 loss on the road against the best team in the NL. It is rather annoying that we lost on a HR by easley and the terrible call at first leading to an extra run on Suppan. Sosa also pitched a pretty good game, we didn't go as deep into counts as normal but it seemed like every single first pitch was a strike and its just hard to go deep into counts when he's throwing strikes like that. Hall and Weeks swung at some pretty bad pitches but they are both scuffling a bit now so I'm not too surprised. Hopefully they get it going soon.
