  1. Then answer my question, who would you have used? Keeping mind the things i posted above. The first time he used Aquino in a close game Aquino had looked good, was throwing strikes (66% of his pitches had been strikes so far on the year), his slider was showing good movement. In that game Wise had pitched the two previous days and it was the 7th inning. Now personally i bring in Turnbow so I agree with people there but many managers don't like taking players out of their roles so its hard to get too down on Ned over it.
  2. According to you they were mistakes, thats the problem. Not everyone agrees with you. There simply was nobody better to bring in on Friday and today well I'd have taken Bush out after the walk but others expressed they wouldn't have. Thats the problem, you are all getting on Yost over questionable calls that can go either way. You tell me what you would have done on Friday. Keep in mind Turnbow was unavailable, Coco was used two days in a row and they really didn't want to use him, Wise had already thrown 18 pitches which is about his limit, Dessens is the long man, CV pitched the day before and they don't like to pitch him back to back days yet and they didn't have lefties coming up for Shouse. Why is using the guy you do have available so wrong that Yost is a bad manager? I just don't get it.
  3. Coco has pitched a lot this week, guessing his arm is just a bit tired.
  4. Yeah I'm not a fan of leaving him in for Berkman there.
  5. Hopefully we can score 2 or 3 runs so we don't end up blowing a good RP when one of our bad RP or Bush puts a couple on base to start the 9th.
  6. Even if we don't manage runs here at the very least we are gonna knock Oswalt out of the game.
  7. I think the platoon makes sense batting 5th but I don't mind Estrada there either, he's just off to a slow start on the season.
  8. Its never a good time to see Gwynn in the starting lineup unless its in AAA.
  9. Not surprised you think this way since you obviously hate Yost, Wise had already thrown 18 pitches and they dont like him to go much over that. I was actually shocked they brought him out to start the 8th to begin with. This is the vent thread so nobody can 'be wrong' but I'm just sick of all the knee jerk complaints about the bullpen and thats what they are regardless of how much you think you know about baseball you don't know more than the rest of us. Tell me who he should have used big shot. 1) Cordero - saving for middle of order if he had to use him, had already pitched back to back days so didn't want to use him. 2) Turnbow - way too many pitches the day before to use him. Yes people complain about him being used but it was only a 4 run lead and the reason they took out CV was to pinch hit and try to score another run. 3) Dessens - Worse than Aquino and considered the long man so not viable. 4) Shouse - Only viable against lefties pretty much 5) CV - Pitched the day before and they don't like to use him back to back days unless they have to, reasonable since he's not used to the bullpen yet. 6) Wise - Had already pretty much hit his pitch limit. Now how can you really complain about what he did? How on earth can you say that this is Yosts fault and he had loads of options out there? Just so tired of all the complaints when very few of them are even justified.
  10. A 2 run lead when neither guy pitched the day before is much different than a tie game when both pitched back to back days already.
  11. Do we have to go over this again, there really were no other pitchers available except Dessens and Shouse or if need be CV who had pitched the day before and Dessens and CV have both had plenty of problems of their own this year.
  12. I like SS's that can hit HR's and field. I like Hardy!
  13. I agree and that doesn't even take into account the complete lack of hitting with RISP yesterday, to be honest the way we hit the ball we should have had a 2-3 run lead going into the 9th and then Aquino never enters the game.
  14. Cordero had pitched two days in a row and they were facing the bottom of the order. Not putting in cordero was not the wrong choice so just get over it already. You can say he should have used someone other than Aquino but I wouldn't have used Cordero there either.
  15. I'm sure Ned would like to do that but Wise had already pitched, Shouse can't face righties, Dessens has been even worse than Aquino, Turnbow threw a lot of pitches the previous two games and he was a) Hoping to not have to use Cordero a 3rd day in a row and b) figured if he HAD to use it why not against the middle of the order. Say what you want but Yost really didn't have very good options there. Leaving in Aquino after bases loaded being a bad call I can agree with, sending Aquino out there I just can't agree with it being a bad call. There just wasn't really anyone else to throw out there.
  16. iluvlamp, Yost did not directly contribute to two losses,in a perfect world you could always use your best RP in every situation but the reality is you simply cannot, you sometimes do have to use your #4 RP. The last game Aquino was in there is no way Yost lost that game. This time I don't have a problem with him putting in Aquino but once he loaded the bases I think its time to go to Turnbow. As for small sample sizes, if Maddux thought he had fixed Aquino's wildness then who cares about what Aquino did 2 years ago. Bill Hall had a solid career of sucking until 2 years ago, doesn't mean we shouldn't have been playing him. I look at this situation and think that our Bullpen is a problem because it doesn't have depth, Cordero is the only sure thing. Wise and Turnbow are acceptable and the rest of it is a blackhole as far as I'm concerned. Thats not a good thing.
  17. The team needs more than 3 reliable RP's, Yost is just trying to find another one. I don't really have any problem with him bringing in Aquino though I question leaving him in when the bases got loaded.
  18. Pretty frustrating hearing them talk about how good a job this Albers kid has done, he's been pretty bad but we just haven't taken advantage of it.
  19. Obviously Weeks K'd there because Sheets isn't a winner.
  20. I could get used to all this scoring in the 1st inning we seem to be doing.
  21. Buerhle just threw a no hitter, 1 walk.
  22. I don't understand sending Hall there.
  23. My statement that Vargas is better than Davis and probably better than Suppan is looking good right now!
  24. Soriano just left the game with a hamstring injury. I'd almost laugh at the Cubs plight if I didn't own Soriano and Aram in my money league.
  25. Come on Hall, bring this game home.
