  1. He has over a .340 OBP right now and has an OPS of .821 so pretty hard to get down on him for this season so far. That was his 3rd walk of the year to go with 75 AB's.
  2. people have posted examples over and over and over again that this simply isn't true but since you seem to hate Sheets you bring it up all the time but its simply not true. Also if Vargas pitches like this on a regular basis he's goign to give up a lot of runs, just because he managed to get out of it today doesn't mean he can on a regular basis, he just got lucky today. Hitters still get out 60%+ of the time, you are going to strand your share of runners but you certainly cannot count on it and when you live behind in the count with runners on a lot you aren't going to be effective.
  3. Giving up runs is being too result oriented. If a pitcher goes out and doesn't K anyone, walks 7 and gives up 7 hits in 5 innings but somehow manages to not give up any runs its still a horrible start because 99% of the time he gets completely destroyed in a start like that. Now Vargas only gave up 4 hits and he K'd 5, if he only say walks 3 instead of 5 people would be saying it was a pretty good start so for my money 2 extra walks doesn't make it bad, just not good.
  4. He did get pinched some and the defense was shoddy (granted one of the bad plays was by him). He didn't give up any HR's which is his big problem, he wasn't very hittable. He just had some location issues which aren't that normal for him. I can't say it was a bad start but it certainly wasn't a good one either.
  5. nowhere to put this guy Vargas, throw some strikes please.
  6. Vargas only walked 2.7 per 9 last year and 3 per 9 the year before so this isn't normal for him. Wonder if maybe Maddux is tinkering with his release point and it just hasn't taken yet.
  7. I like aggressive Vargas from the first two starts a lot more than nibbling Vargas from the last two.
  8. Sure there is~ Show some statistical proof or something to back up the statement at least. Bush doesn't tank games any more than anyone else and Capuano doesn't have some magical touch where he leaves everyone stranded. I've watched every game by both of these guys as Brewers just like you probably have and I say its nonsense.
  9. I wish we had Aquino back instead of Spurling.
  10. No I'm not missing the point, its still nonsense. You are remembering a couple games earlier this year and forgetting all the games last year where Capuano didn't pitch out of the jams. Also for what its worth Bush did pitch out of it, he made two hitters look bad that should have been the 3rd out and both got little fluke hits. Sometimes they are just going to drop.
  11. Thats nonsense, Capuano doesn't have a good game every time out and he gives up lots of runs when in jams just like every other pitcher.
  12. Come on Estrada, make Yost look good for batting you 5th... or not.
  13. Because he knew the next batter would be a lefty and shouse would come in so didn't want to waste a better RP would be my guess. Sweet Estrada fixed his OPS http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. At the very least we are forcing Oswalt out of the game after this inning.
  15. Also, couldn't they find a better pac man player, I get frustated every time mlb.tv goes to that pac man screen between innings.
  16. JJ hasn't even played a full season in the majors yet, he's gonna make his share of errors but he is no C+ fielding SS thats for sure.
  17. Pie hit a little bloop single that you can't do much about, Hardy made an error on next play that should have probably ended the inning. Dessens K'd the next guy which would have definitely been the 3rd out without Hardy's error. Then the next two guys hit hard balls that scored runs.
  18. Its a tweaked groin, thats the kind of thing that can happen to any player on the field.
  19. I think for whatever reason he thinks Estrada batting 5th will come up in situations where putting the ball in play is as important as overall power. Whether there is any truth to it I don't know.
  20. Looks like he's having more than a little problem gripping that ball.
  21. That is a game we lose the past two years, huge huge win.
  22. Bunt Counsell and you pretty much have to win this inning as you are out of pitchers. i don't like that play at all.
