  1. No reason at all to bunth counsell there, they don't want to have to take CV out. If counsell gets a hit then you can PH and go for the win.
  2. This is the type of game I think we lose in 9 the past 2 years, I really hope we win but this game shows that we are a team that knows how to stay in every game instead of just giving up.
  3. Well pinch hitting for Counsell could go either way given the bench atm, but not pinch hitting for Gross either time is inexecusible, just horrible. The first time you could sort of justify it by saying they have another lefty but the second time is just a disgrace.
  4. Well the results worked but it was still bad management and at this point there wasn't really much he could do with counsell since nobody but maybe Hart can play 3B.
  5. @#%$ is going on, this is just obnoxious.
  6. Please pinch hit... please pinch hit. I'm a Yost supporter but this is baffling. But it worked http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif .
  7. So that lack of pinch hits has about a what... 25-30% chance of costing us a tie game here?
  8. Looked painful but he pretty much walked off on his own power. Might be a DL stint but I doubt its anything really long term. Lol talk about lucky on the K.
  9. Pretty sure he meant thats why they pinch hit with graffy for the pitcher to lead off the inning.
  10. This is the first game all year where I think its clear that Yost made a bad call pure and simple. There is just no reason for Gross to bat there, none at all. It makes no sense.
  11. My guess is graffy goes into the game to play 2B and the pitcher slots into Weeks spot.
  12. Mench really needs to pinch hit for Gross there, that was just a bad call by Yost.
  13. Not a big fan of this pinch hit with our bullpen so tired right now.
  14. Boy we needed that DP. Please, please, please no DP here counsell.
  15. I hate when Hardy hits HR's, thats not his game.
  16. 9 pitches in the first inning, thats not what I like to see. Zambrano has been killing himself by throwing too many pitches early this year.
  17. Zambrano has pitched terribly, Hill and Lilly have been very very good. Marquis has a low ERA but hasn't pitched well, Miller has been terrible. I am worried about tonight myself, Vargas has problems with the long ball and if the wind is blowing out it could be nasty.
  18. And with a lead I'd go ahead and use Cordero, in a tie I wouldn't. If Cordero was fully fresh I could see using him in a tie, but not when he pitched two days in a row already and its the bottom 3 in the order.
  19. Yes but would you pitch 3 days in a row when you have a tie game and are facing the bottom of the order? Turns out the next two days they needed him as well so that would have been 5 games in a row or he's unavailable for one of those two games when its close. After the game Yost said he'd have used Cordero against the middle of the order, that makes complete sense to me. If your RP's can't get out Burke, Everett, Ausmus and Lamb who are all below average hitters than I think its your bullpens fault more than the managers fault. I think letting him face Biggio was a mistake, a big one. I disagree with just putting him in being a mistake. Then you have guys like Blazer saying its the single dumbest thing he's ever seen any manager do and guys like endaround who can't make a post without saying Yost sucks because of the move. It may be a questionable move but its nowhere near as bad as the hindsight knee jerk reactions of some of the posters.
  20. It does say that conventional wisdom is not to do it though. I can't call Yost a bad manager because he makes the same moves that most managers in baseball make. That doesn't make much sense to me. If he can bring himself to actually do it, it makes him a good manager.
  21. So should Cordero pitch tomorrow if its close in the 9th? I would agree with you if Cordero hadnt' pitched two days in a row but I'm not bringing my closer in a 3rd day in a row in the top of the 9th of a tie game when facing the bottom 3 in their order. You have to have at least a little faith in your other RP's so you aren't blowing your closer in situations like that. Peavey, I actually did a double take when I saw Wise go back out there for a 2nd inning. They said they are going to try to keep his pitch counts down to keep him healthy.
