  1. I read your post the first time you posted, you are simply wrong. Unless Capuano looked like he was laboring badly there is no reason to take him out. Capuano gave up a HR, blame the pitcher not the manager. If Ned pulls cappy and cappy2 lets in 2 run HR half the posters on this site would be jumping on Ned for the poor decision. Its a lose, lose situation for the manager when the PLAYERS fail to execute.
  2. No manager in baseball pulls Capuano there. Ned is not perfect with the bullpen management but it seems like no matter what he does someone here is saying how terrible his moves were.
  3. Yes, he has one of the most negative attitudes I've ever seen on a forum.
  4. I wish Davis remembered how to throw strikes.
  5. Pettitte had a bad first half of the year but he's been great in the 2nd half. Last year was obviously a fluke but he still has a few sub 4 ERA years in him in the NL. He'd be the Brewers #3 SP if not #2 if we somehow signed him next year (I am in no way suggesting we sign him though, just using it as a point of reference).
  6. The most important stat of the night for Davis is the 0 BB's. Maybe this is the start of another strong month for him like he had in June (his only good month of the year).
  7. I personally love Bush and how he's pitched this year considering his age. If he can cut down on his HR's next year I think he'll be better than Capuano long term. He has a 2.84 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 19 IP with a 10 K to 1 BB ratio this month so its hard to really rag on the guy and personally I think Yost completely screwed him over last month using him in relief so I give him a mulligan.
  8. He went 5 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 0 BB, 2 K's. I wouldn't call that a good outing either but its not a terrible one. He unfortunately gave up 2 HR's which has been his problem all year. He had only thrown 69 pitches and our rotation has put a lot of stress on the bullpen so it was a hard decision for Yost to remove him, I'm personally not a fan of the choice but thats just me.
  9. The next two hitters after McCann have 22+ HR's this year, its not exactly the perfect spot for an intentional walk or a sure thing that we don't give up the 2 runs regardless. You could go either way with that call but if you are going to blame someone I'd blame Wise or give props to McCann.
  10. No, but you don't take out your starter because he loses his control for a couple hitters. Sorry but there isn't a single manager in baseball that would take Ohka out there, I've never seen anyone do anything like that after just 3 runs.
  11. Huh? There isn't a manager in baseball that would have pinch hit for Ohka there. You don't pinch hit for your pitcher in the 4th inning after under 60 pitches.
  12. In games where Sheets was actually healthy this year he has 47 K's and 1 BB. If only he can stay healthy he would probably be the best pitcher in the NL.
  13. Well we pretty much only have 1 IP types left in the pen and they need to finish out this game and be around for the next one. I don't really see how Yost had much choice.
  14. bucksman's opinions turn on a dime, especially the negative ones, I wouldn't worry too much about anything he says. As for Jenkins, that puts his OPS over .800 since July 1st. He might not be on a mega hot streak yet but he hasn't been hitting poorly since June. In fact other than his mini 4 game slump where he took an 0 for he's been hitting the ball pretty well.
  15. With say Capuano I'd agree. But not with a pitcher who just came back from a major injury and hasn't had time to get to full strength yet and not a pitcher who is a sure thing out. Not with a bullpen that can easily blow a 4 run lead by itself much less a 2 or 3 run lead. I'm not going to blast Yost for it because it was an emotional choice so I don't think anything was wrong with it. I just think taking him out was the better choice.
  16. Look we all know you hate Jenkins, you complain about him all the time even when he's hitting the ball well but at least stick to the facts somewhat. He hasn't been terrible all year, he had one long dreadful slump. April 3rd-May 4th Good Start .302 AVG, .365 OBA, .500 SLG, .864 OPS May 5th -June 30th The Slump .216 AVG, .286 OBA, .301 SLG, .587 OPS July 1st - July 29th Heating up .293 AVG, .391 OBP, .467 SLG, .857 OPS. Yes I freely admit, the middle of the season Jenkins absolutely stunk, he was terrible and I'm glad they started to sit him sometimes vs lefties while he figured it out. But to say he's stunk all 4 months is just being obtuse. The guy had a terrible 2 months, just like most players do each year only most spread it out so it doesn't look as bad..
  17. And yet Hart barely has a better OPS than him this year and Hart has posted a .625 OPS this month. I'm sorry but Jenkins goes from looking lost to hitting anything thrown to him at random. He was hitting the ball extremely well the first 3 weeks in July and now this last week cooled off. Wish I wasn't right about Sheets not finishing this off.. come DBow get it done.
  18. I personally would have pinch hit for him from a logical standpoint. I'm sure thats more of an emotional decision since I'm sure Sheets pleaded his case to stay in for the shutout. Coming off an injury, pitch count approaching 100, terrible hitter. To me it adds up to a pinch hit.
  19. Jenkins is a proven major league hitter, Hart is a minor leaguer with a few major league AB's. Sit him vs lefties, I can live with it since he hasn't been amazing against them at any point his career, but all this talk about yost being an idiot because of some small sample size in hindsight talk isn't doing anyone any good. Hart is an 0 for 4 game away from having a lower OPS than Jenkins on the year, funny how those small sample sizes work.
  20. Garret Anderson - $10M, 9 HR, .721 OPS Brian Giles - $8M, 7 HR, .750 OPS Trot Nixon - $7.5M, 7 HR, .827 OPS Steve Finley - $7M, 5 HR, .730 OPS Some of those guys dont' quite have Jenkins AB's but they all are 300+ PA so are reasonably close.
  21. See what happens when you throw strikes Doug, now keep it up.
  22. And he only pitched 3 innings because ned used him relief between his previous 2 starts and he came out flat. Starters are not conditioned to throw in relief between starts, its almost always a disaster when a manager does this and now Ned has done it twice to Bush within a week. The end result has been a terrible couple games for Bush.
  23. I'm usually pretty forgiving of Yost but he has completely jerked Bush around in the past 2 weeks and not surprising the results have been ugly. There is no excuse for this, either make him a RP or a starter, don't throw him in there at random it never works.
  24. Jenkins generally carries around a .730 OPS vs lefties, the fact he has struggled a bit more this year is irrelevant, when he is on he always hits lefties just fine and when he's not he hits them poorly. When he's on he's an .800+ OPS type hitter vs them, when he's not he's a sub .700. I have no issues sitting him sometimes against them when he's not seeing the ball well, but when he's hot he needs to play every single day, period. I would consider Yost a bad manager if he started to platoon then full time while Jenkins was hot and I'm glad he's playing him today.
  25. Jenkins is hitting .355 with a 1.001 OPS in July, there is no reason he should sit against anyone other than normal rest until he cools down. Historically when he's seeing the ball well he hits lefties just fine. I would play him every day and if Yost starts to sit him full time for some unproven rookie I'd actually be upset.
