  1. Has anyone red "Room"? My book club picked it and I got through about 7 pages before I put it down. It's written from the point of view of a young boy who is a captive with his mom in a 10 x 10 room and I couldn't read the "kid-ese." Has anyone got through it? Do I need to pick it back up?
  2. Former Badger Jack Skille was traded from Chicago to Florida today
  3. Kansas City does a "preview" night on Friday night for Season Ticket Holders. I thought that was a nice touch.
  4. Saturday's game showed a lot of the team's inexperience. I just read a couple of recaps and they used "growing pains" to excuse a lot of the problems, but I'm not sure the team should be given that much of an easy out. There were three separate incidents where players made just plain dumb plays: checking the goalkeeper, throwing a check well after the whistle and intentionally knocking the NoDak goal off the line.
  5. I have two of the Cecil Cooper SGA from this past season. Looking to trade or sell.
  6. I'm actually pretty lucky at raffles and have been since I was a kid. I remember winning a year's supply of canned vegetables - what an awful gift for a kid to win! The biggest most recent is that I won a game worn Jody Gerut from the raffle for filling out All-Star Ballots. Of course, he went on the DL like that week and then we got rid of him, so I was never able to get it signed.
  7. Stepan was just the fourth ever NHLer to record a hat trick in his first game. Way to go Derek!
  8. The GameDay record might be bad, but the record for night games is good. Does that mean they even out? Where does that leave us?
  9. Paid for the webcast of these games and it was broken for today's game, which was kind of frustrating when I saw the score. Would have been nice to see the team bounce back today. Plan on going to the Alabama Huntsville game next Sunday and have our first Saturday night game on the 30th. I can't wait.
  10. I'd like to see pictures of the Braun. nicole (dot) haase (at) gmail
  11. I live on Cambridge between North and Brady and we have DirecTV and use AT&T for our internet. It's a little wonky with AT&T to have their internet but not phone. Until recently they haven't been prepared for the eventuality and require you to enter your phone number when you call. We don't have a home phone, so we had to jump through some hoops. That being said, we've had excellent customer service from them, including next day help and a Saturday appointment when we had a service problem (modem died. They replaced it for free and re-set us up on a Saturday) Love DirecTV - love having MLB, NHL, NFL Networks and love Sunday ticket during the football season.
  12. I have an extra but don't need either of those. Got anything else for trade?
  13. I have two tickets section 416 row 15 seats 3 and 4. looking to get $20 for the pair Can meet anywhere in greater Milwaukee area
  14. We used Man vs Food and other Food Network and Travel Channel shows to find tasty food - namely sundaes at Crown Candy Kitchen and BBQ at Pappy's Smokehouse. Pappy's was delicious. They only make so much food per day and when they run out, they run out, so go for lunch.
  15. I've also been incredulous at how hard/expensive tickets are for that series. I'd really like to go, but we'd be hard pressed to travel from Milwaukee on the hope that we find tickets.
  16. Anyone know what the prices are to get the personalized bats at Miller Park? That tent is set up at the Friday's corner for every game. Taking away shipping, the price might even out...
  17. I was at the Ads game Saturday night and took a bunch of pics of Geoffrion. You can see them here: http://scores.espn.go.com...300415116&photoId=583975 Also, the Ads twitter feed said Blake got boarded pretty hard and left tonight's game, but I haven't heard anything more. Lastly, Michael Davies was signed by the AHL affiliate of the Rangers. He was an undrafted player, so I'm glad he got picked up. http://www.stamfordadvoca...t-goalies-big-448692.php\
  18. I'm not sure if this goes in reverse, but you can take a charter bus from Washington DC to Baltimore to go to O's games and I would assume it works the other way. We did that and it was really nice and easy. I'd check it out if you can. Hawing, have fun. We did DC two years ago and had a blast. Didn't think we'd enjoy it so much as adults. If you get a chance, go here http://www.starwoodhotels...&attractionId=1004250496 it's a hotel next door to the White House with a rooftop patio bar. You get great views of the city and it's really cool to be able to see all the different secret service agents on the roof, etc. Very cool
  19. I don't get intense pain, but I do have a pressure headache form if only one window is open. I always at least crack the other one. I have terrible sinuses and already have a pressure issue, so this just compounds it.
  20. I'm just going on basic info - but if the one thing you said about Wisconsin was that you're not a fan of the winters, I would think Boise would not be an improvement in that area. I mean, I know it's not Alaska, but since that seems to be important to you.. Also, I lived in Louisiana for 6 years and spent a lot of time in Texas and the thing you have to know is that you will never meet folks more fiercely proud of where they're from. For me, that got old and wearing after a while. It struck me as a little close-minded and if you've already moved from WI to Greensboro and are looking at another cross-country move, that sort of mentality might not go well with you. It goes deeper than a surface thing to where you find people unwilling to understand or consider living elsewhere. I'm making some generalizations, and it's a bit difficult to explain, but that sort of unwillingness to accept that there are bigger and better things to see that was hard for me. I felt like folks wouldn't even consider ideas or listen to you because it was implausible to them that you might want to be elsewhere. It kind of permeated things.
  21. I hadn't heard anything about being able to get them at Brewers' games, but they did say that you could turn in your opening day ticket at the Rattlers stadium to redeem your bobble. They did not reschedule the giveaway - they are honoring those who had opening day tix.
  22. Just before and then during the intermissions of today's national championship hockey game I saw Tiger Woods highlights and Yankees highlights. Thats it.
  23. I flipped my Brewers' wives calendar to April to find Frank Catalanotto
  24. was ready to post this after I read two entries - glad someone got to it
  25. feel the same way. I was so disappointed in today's game because it wasn't the team I had come to know. After the 3rd goal, it felt like Geoffrion was the only one still trying to play and win the game. Getting to the National Championship was such a bonus - I wasn't expecting it - so I guess I'll take that and be happy. But I've never wanted to turn a game off more than I did today.
