  1. On base is only helped by hits, walks & hit by pitches (errors & sacrifices are just like other outs) EDIT: ya, what Woogie said.
  2. Not to get ahead of myself, but could this be setting up for a Gagne appearance in front of his Boston "fans"?
  3. Baseball Tonight just showed Billy's take-out slide at second, he definitely got that run by causing the throw to be wide. Nice hard baseball (from a former middle infielder)... looks like they may still be trying!
  4. I'll hold onto my optimism. The opponents between now & then don't look overwhelming and more games at home, including 3 series leading right up to the All-Star break. Even my pessimistic side says at worst they will be a tease and keeping making a bunch of little runs just about when you're ready to give up.
  5. The radio description said it wasn't any kind of designed steal or hit & run. The ball popped out of the catchers glove, as is prone to do with a knuckleballer, then Rickie took off... but the ball hadn't bounced far enough away.
  6. According to Uecker, that's what happened. Second the nice ovation for Kapler.
  7. Does Manny look like Pujols to McClung? Not much else has worked - how about a beanball war or bench clearing brawl to get things turned around? (Only half kidding)
  8. I'm not sure they don't care, seems more like they just don't really know this team (...or they don't care to know). It's not one of the big market teams that has their team details splattered all over the national news to pickup upon. The last game on FOX, they had to give us one Brewer announcer and one from the Cardinals' booth, just so they had people that knew something about the 'other' teams.
  9. What's your trick? It didn't work for me when I asked for it in his last at bat with the bases loaded.
  10. I know I'm getting greedy, but this would be a nice spot for an HR... especially following Billy's non-out at second. It sure would be nice to be on the other end of runs being scored when an inning was extended by some questionable umpiring.
  11. Any idea why Ned would seem so adamant about keeping this a secret if the change was tipping pitches? If that is truly the case, and a couple of teams had already figured it out, does the Brewer's management really believe that no other team is going to be able to figure it out if they don't acknowledge it? This is 2008, with teams having people on the payroll dedicated to studying and analyzing film on every opponent. If 2-3 teams figured it out, the rest should be able to do so quickly. Could this be some reverse psychology to send teams on a wild goose chase looking for a tip when it is really something mechanical (or psychological)? Either Ned over thinking this, or I am.
  12. Hmmmm... Gagne warming up. Can't possibly blow a 7-run lead, right?
  13. Let's get that man some base runners! Although 4 solo shots in 2 days is still pretty good considering where this team was a week ago. Let's hang on for a nice blow out game!
  14. OK, I'll be the first to admit that I missed it (and I'm in that demo). Maybe I live too far North.
  15. No Meatloaf fan, but 2 out of 3 ain't bad against the division leader... wouldn't mind seeing that bullpen management approach carry throughout the year.
  16. The cameras did show a rather large crowded headed across the bridge to the parking lot when they came back to start the bottom of the inning. Didn't notice anything after the second batter, but didn't look like it took long after the run-scoring hit.
  17. We got some really awesome ticket packages donated by a couple of businesses for our charity softball tournament again this year. A few more games like this and we won't get as many people eager to join that fundraiser (I really hope the poor playing/coaching performance doesn't affect the gift we are able to make to a local children's charity).
  18. For those unable to see the Fox broadcast, Bill highlighted an interesting fact - all 5 of Prince's homeruns have come off of lefties this year.
  19. "Fielder can tie this game with one swing of the bat"... All of a sudden, I don't dislike that play-by-play guy as much. Now if he would just suggest something similar for Hart, Hall and/or Hardy.
  20. I was glad to be wrong on my guess for that inning. Seems like Gameday has similar low expectations - on their new video segment, they put up a highlight for "Hart walks home". A multi-run homer highlight sure would have been nice... shocking that only a year ago the Brewers were the leaders in homeruns with a similar lineup.
  21. Put me down for Zero... this is one wager I would like to lose.
  22. I could agree with a handful being considered hard hit outs today.
  23. Almost forgot what it was like to be on the other side of a late inning comeback. Not to get greedy, but I'd also like to remember what a double-digit blowout victory feels like http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. Haven't given them much to cheer for yet, but the booing was pretty heavy after giving up the run scoring hit to the pitcher and the walk to their #9 hitter. Suppose to be full house all weekend with the half-price spring madness & dollar hot dogs and sodas.... maybe everyones at the concession stands.
