  1. Did Hall have a chance at that "bad hop" by DeRosa?
  2. I was just about to mention that. Darren Sutton talked about it, so I figured I wouldn't be jinxing it. So glad I started him!
  3. Johnny Cueto makes his debut for the Reds today. He's only 17% owned on ESPN. Should I start him? I am always afraid to start the young guys right out of the gates but sometimes they dominate when hitters haven't seen them yet.
  4. For the people who got tickets from the 2nd chance drawing, does the code they give you have to match your username/password? Or can anyone use the code they give you? I have no chance of going, so if anyone wants my code let me know (assuming that is allowed).
  5. Maybe they had a 3rd chance drawing? I just got an email that said Thursday morning I have the opportunity to buy up to 4 of the remaining seats (most are single seat or standing room only). Talk about last minute. Check your email!
  6. Need some help on a trade proposal. I'm in an 8 team head to head league. He's offered me Lance Berkman for Javier Vazquez (he's a Sox fan). My 1st basemen are Adrian Gonzalez and Conor Jackson (can start 1B and 1 utility man). Berkman can also play in the outfield, so the versatility is nice. Berkman has been pretty consistent over the years. What do you think? Here's my team.... Russell Martin Adrian Gonzalez Aaron Hill Alex Rodriguez Hanley Ramirez Carlos Lee Hideki Matsui Andruw Jones Josh Hamilton Erik Bedard Aaron Harang Javier Vazquez Rich Harden Gil Meche Manny Corpas Bench B.J. Upton Adam Dunn Tim Lincecum Vernon Wells Rich Hill Alex Gordon Conor Jackson Francisco Cordero Jhonny Peralta John Smoltz
  7. Yes. I was switching between games during the rain delay and I went to check in on the Brewers game and it was not working. I was just really patient and eventually my audio opened up and is now working. Here is a direct link to the "multimedia guide" from mlb.com that might help you out. http://mlb.mlb.com/mediacenter/index.jsp#20080331
  8. Kendall draws a walk.....Ned Yost you genious!
  9. Here's the lineup: 2B Rickie Weeks CF Mike Cameron 1B Prince Fielder LF Ryan Braun 3B Bill Hall RF Corey Hart SS J.J. Hardy RHP Jeff Suppan C Jason Kendall Haudicourt says in his blog that this will be the everyday lineup once Cameron is back. Bill Hall batting 5th? Really? I thought that'd be Corey Hart. Perhaps a typo? Anyone hear if Hall is the 5 guy? http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/03/28/the-real-lineup.aspx
  10. Don't they want to keep Parra from the pen too? I know he's said he isn't as comfortable coming out of the pen than he is starting. And lets face it, his future is as a starter not a long reliever.
  11. So..... Who gets bumped from the rotation when Yo comes back? 1. Bush gets sent to the pen 2. Villy gets sent to the pen 3. Parra gets sent to AAA 4. Villy gets sent to AAA Obviously Bush could get sent down to AAA or Parra could get moved to the pen, but I think these moves are very unlikely. I hope its #1, but won't be hugely disappointed if its #2 (no 3 or 4 please!). I think Villy's value in the pen isn't as great as it was last year. Our bullpen is much improved, and has a few guys that can go multiple innings. Maybe Bush is traded at some point?
  12. I know, how many times did Beasley and Walker get the easy bucket and the foul? I hope our guys are better disciplined than that. The refs were really calling a lot of fouls. I see Beasley getting in early foul trouble against UW. If we can keep the game at our pace and just slow downone of either Beasley or Walker, we should be in good shape.
  13. 1. Siena 2. Both Butler and West Virginia - 7 seeds 3. Marquette loses to Stanford in 2nd round 4. Badgers lose to GU in sweet 16 (really wanted to pick Davidson upsetting GU, but couldn't talk myself into it) 5. UNC, Texas, Xavier, Kansas 6. Kansas over Texas - I know I don't like it either, but Texas has home court pretty much the whole tourney Butler vs. South Alabama is the most intriguing first round game to me. Butler is very good and I have them going to the elite 8, but they could just as easy lose to South Alabama in round 1.
  14. Turns out Weeks is hurt, but it just happened so that's not why he stinks so far this spring. He says its all timing and isn't concerned about it. The injury doesn't sound serious, but it will take ABs away from him and make it harder to iron out the kinks. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080317&content_id=2434426&vkey=spt2008news&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  15. Lots of nice Bakerisms in this article. Dusty's planning on plugging Phillips into the cleanup spot. My favorite part... Baker wouldn't mind if Phillips walked a little more, especially considering he isn't a "base clogger"; he stole 32 bases last season. But getting on base -- especially getting on base by a walk -- is clearly secondary to Baker. He wants Phillips to be aggressive. Baker wants him to swing the bat. "If you're supposed to be up there driving in runs ... a run producer, he ain't up there to get his on-base percentage up. He's in there to drive in runs," says Baker. "If you're passing it on to the next hitter, a lot of times, he's not as good of a hitter as you. Otherwise ... he'd be hitting ahead of you." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/john_donovan/03/14/donovan.phillips/index.html?eref=T1
  16. 5 at Chicago - 2-3 3 at New York - 1-2 3 at St Louis 1-2 3 at Cincinnati 2-1 Home Games 3 San Francisco 3-0 3 Cincinnati 2-1 2 St Louis 2-0 2 Philadelphia 1-1 3 Florida 2-1 Overall a 16-11 record. Which is pretty solid considering the road trips and the absence of Cameron and Gallardo.
  17. MLB traderumors suggests that one of our surplus pitchers could entice the Blue Jays now that Casey Janssen is out for the season. In the comments some Jays fans mention their depth at catcher. I'd rather get a mid-level pitching prospect back though. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/03/janssen-injury.html
  18. Anybody know where Weeks hit in the lineup in college? How many pitches per PA he took in college? Was he always groomed to be a lead off hitter in the minors? I ask these questions because Rickie's plate discipline almost seems forced at some times. Maybe he's taking on the lead off hitter's mentality--trying to get onto first base anyway he can. Since Weeks is a good fastball hitter, and we have a legit lead off hitter in Cameron, could we see a lineup change if Rickie struggles after the first month?
  19. Colonoscopies should be performed every 10 years
  20. I rented 2K8 this weekend for the Wii. Man is my arm tired. I like it ok. I totally agree on Hart and Hardy is underrated to some extent too. Braun and Prince are both beasts though. I still haven't really figured out the hitting. I swing about 90% of the time because I have a hard time telling what's in and out of the strike zone (any advice on pitchers tipping their pitches would be great!). I'm still winning a lot of games by hitting A LOT of home runs with Braun. I too have had a few check swings that were intended to be full swings. The base running could be better too. Also, the CPUs defense is ridiculous. I think Beltran pulled back 3 homers from me in 1 game.
  21. 1. My mom taught me to put it in last. I learned that was wrong in college (from friends, not a class). Now it goes in first. 2-3. No landline 4. Never ever count change. 5. I used to use my signal ALL the time. I now live in Illinois (as my name suggests), and find myself using it less and less. 6. Only leave a voice mail if necessary, otherwise it's just common sense to call me back, right? 7. I try to wait to use the restroom at breaks, but I seem to have to "go" at an above average frequency. 8. No 9. Write it down when I'm busy (summer months). 10. I've never balanced my check book, but I know about how much I have (thank you on-line banking)
  22. Absolutely. I'm laughing out loud here. "Tulo hit one too high for two outs. Todd Helton up.""Is it pronounced bubbler or boobler?" "I haven't done much googling lately....done some oogling though." Classic Bob
