    I don't know where else to put this - did we use to have a designated ticket thread on this site? I have 1 extra ticket to tonight's game back behind the 1st base dugout... I don't want to put them on stubhub because Chicago folks will get them. Would love to sell to someone on this site possible who will cheer for the right team. Where can I do that?

    I think you're on to something here. I've always wondered why GM's don't each just acquire four all stars every off-season who all pan out to make their lineup as good as possible.

    I've come to enjoy the nuclear reactions of fans during trade deadlines. The high strung fan has become one of my favorites to witness. We could trade for Ohtani, Scherzer, and Hader tonight and there will be a good handful of people whose response will be "BUT HOW IS THAT SUPPOSE TO HELP OUR 3B PRODUCTION?!?" I enjoy this.

    Except the lineup additions of Winker and Contreras really did nothing to our payroll so we should, assumably, still have a move or two ahead of us for our starting lineup before the season starts. I actually really like the current lineup as presented as well - but I think and hope another improvement awaits.

    The ONLY downside I see to this trade is that a lot of fans are going to raise their expectations of what 'good' trades look like. It will make any future moves a bit of a burden to read these boards. "That's it? We got Contreras + 2 arms for Ruiz and all we got for XX was YY?!" I'm kidding but I'm not but you know what I mean. What a day.

    This is a random thought. I'd be curious what the rate of 3 sports high school athletes are in the colder climates vs the warmer ones. I am making this up, but it would make sense that the further south you go, the easier it is to access year round competition in a sport if you are wanting to specialize. Up here in the cold, you have to go south to play any kind of competitive baseball past October or before April. I wonder if there is a correlation.

    I think the point is that the author made it seem like we will have a long long time to wait for a WI kid to be on our mound again and, as pointed out, we have a AAA arm currently in the system. So 'long time' in reality could be a flu bug in the clubhouse next week.

    Wisconsin only has one D1 collegiate baseball program in the state, at UW-Milwaukee. That shouldn't be overlooked... even our best in state talent has to get recruited out of state if they want to develop. There are a few dozen D3 kids from Wisconsin college floating around the high minors and a dozen or so in the last decade that have made the big leagues... but it matters when you don't have D1 schools to recruit and develop your in state talent that wasn't highly recruited out of high school.

    In Stearns' comments about the Escobar trade he talked about the importance of covering themselves in all scenarios for the stretch run. This seems like one of those insurance deals to get another lefty in the pen in case we need one down the way maybe?

    I think most people didn't realize/remember the Marlins moved Stanton UP in the order last year ahead of Yelich because teams weren't pitching to him. I remember a lot of "well he had Stanton protecting him so he got pitches to hit" but that wasn't true. Ozuna was behind him yes... but Yelich earned his numbers last year.

    Baez plays for the Cubs. I guess that is my point... is his inclusion in the MVP talk simply to keep a large market of fans excited in that conversation? Stepping back and being as impartial as possible... If I had to start a team from scratch and add players 2018 years to my roster... Baez isn't a top 10 choice for me. Cain is more deserving than Baez.
