Looks like there is an opt out after '26? State tax in Arizona is a flat 2.5% regardless of income. State tax in California for top earners is north of 12% if the Giants were truly the other contender here. I guess Burnes also lives in Scottsdale? Those few things would def be enough to swing the decision..

Fun fact, looking over Zimmermann's history - he started against Milwaukee in the Orioles home opener in '22 and threw 4 scoreless against us.

Definitely. $2 for a 16oz fountain soda that is 1/3 ice is still probably an 500% margin I would guess.

I will say I would be in favor of a version of "surge" pricing at the stadium. Weekdays bring the pricing down to encourage ticket sales and make the experience more affordable. Then weekdays do whatever you want with the full stadium. I do understand weekends are when families typically are able to go together so this doesn't help that situation all too well... But it is a bit of a compromise at least.

It is a nice thought but you are asking the most alpha business people amongst us (owners) to think in terms outside of supply and demand, which is actually impossible in a lot of cases. Most only know one form of communication. "If they don't buy the hot dogs we will lower the price until they do. If they buy the hot dogs, we will raise the price until they don't." I believe your plea is more appropriate to the fan bases who continue buying, because in the owner's eyes we are agreeing that the prices are fair because their inventory keeps moving.

I think we need to give the kid more than 50 at bats in the bigs before panicking about his offensive skillset. His career OBP in the minors is over .400 ... and even with his struggles in his short stint last year his OBP was 100 pts higher than his avg. Lot of offseason left but as of now he is the backup at 1B and will be rostered. Lot can change though. I'm low key excited for him this year. -
I wonder what the over/under is on the number of bunts the Brewers are going to lay down this season? I can't imagine there is another team that will attempt more...

The one caveat I would add, and I would consider myself neutral on the subject of currently NEEDING to add more power now, is that there are really two seasons to deal with. As you mentioned, the Brewers seem to have the regular seasons nailed. Right now I think the focus is on building the best 40 man roster that can survive 162 games and come out alive at the end. I think the 2nd roster that needs to be built is the playoff roster and that is where we maybe need to be more aggressive, maybe more so than we have in the past. Once we hit summer and are positioned nicely ... I think "Do we have enough power?" is a super appropriate question to ask and act on. Right now, I really want the best players we can get that can get us the 162. Who could have known Tobias and Perkins were going to be season savers when it all started last year. Imagine if he had "dealt from depth" before the year and traded Perkins for someone with power? Who knows, in a weird twist of fate maybe Mike Boeve ends up hitting 12 home runs for us this year. Again, I don't think anyone is wrong in this instance ... but personally I just want the best players on the 40 man that we can acquire to start the year, all else equal. Sorry I rambled, hope that makes sense. -

I think it is really easy for fans to look at roster compilation and find the 'oddity' and be worried it will become an issue. If the Brewers have a roster full of Brice Turang's and we average between 4-5 runs a game ... do we care how they are scored? -
I'm willing to let the off season play out in its entirety before discussing losing our GM.

I think Dejong makes a bunch of sense. Cheap vet with some pop to cover the left side of the infield if all of the young guys regress or don't pan out. He would provide a solid floor. Shoot, he played for $1.75mil last year ... As far as trades go, as much as I love Perkins his value can't get much higher than it currently is. I'd dangle both he and Frelick and let any club pick their favorite. I'm knocking HARD on every wood structure I see this year for Garrett Mitchell to stay in uniform.

I'm cautiously bullish on Hoskins having a bounce back year for us. Last year was one year removed from injury.. we saw the "two years removed from" scenario with Winker last year, I have blind faith we get a little of that. Hoskins was a 9 total WAR player in his 6 seasons in Philly... If we can get 1 WAR out of him this year as a part time player .. that will be a full win bump from last season. If we can improve on Bauer's side of the platoon ... I think there is reasonable optimism we can gain 2 WAR from our 1B this year over last.

The problem for the Brewers is that the first basemen on the free-agent market include not just Pete Alonso and Christian Walker, but also Paul Goldschmidt, Anthony Rizzo, Josh Bell, Carlos Santana and Justin Turner. To move Hoskins, the Brewers might need to both add cash and attach a prospect."

Come on man. Putting Cortes and Owen Miller in the same sentence as dime a dozen guys just isn't it. Cortes had comparable numbers last year to Max Fried.

If Cortes pitches to his career norms and the Brewers underperform as a team, he will bring back a favorable haul at the deadline. If he pitches to his career norms+ and the Brewers hold him for the season, he is a QO candidate and could bring back a 1st Rd+ 2026 pick. Also, imagine if the Brewers can find a little more of that pitcher's pixie dust for him that they always seem to have?

The breadsticks are almost always a lower shelf item which is below a straight arm reach for a 5'6 human. So, wrong. Also, if Cortes brings a Suter like stability to the clubhouse (as you are inferring) to go along with his Top 30 SP recent stats ... this is an enormous home run of a trade.

.396 OBP at AAA last year for Durbin. Initial thoughts on the trade is we improved... is Durbin our new SS? I would hesitate to move Turang off of 2nd after being named the best defender in baseball. Durbin is 5'6. Altuve like.
