I think I have arrived at this conclusion as well. They are both going to be very welcomed on next year's team.

Ok. This will be my final response to this because it is silly we are arguing about this in a magic number thread. I was just making a positive side comment about JJ Hardy. Sorry! The fact I said he was a sneaky good power hitting shortstop and your response has been more or less "shortstops never used to hit for power so it isn't impressive" doesn't disprove my original comment. But I digress and you are right and I am wrong. Go Crew!

I never said he was a better power hitter than any of the new crop of guys you just mentioned. I said he was quietly one of the better power hitting shortstops of all time. Should I rephrase it so it hits your palette better? If I said "I think most people would be surprised how high JJ Hardy is on the all time HR list by Shortstops" ... would that make it better? Because that is saying the same thing.

I've thought about it. He ranks 13th all time in HR by shortstops in MLB history. I never said he was a better power hitter than any of the guys you mentioned. I said "quietly he was one of the best". Of all the guys who have played shortstop primarily in MLB history ... he has more home runs than all but 12 (soon to be 13) of them. What I said was correct, respectfully.

I saw Blake Snell's name pop up as the opposing starter tonight and my first thought randomly was ... "I feel like we were rumored to trade for Ian Snell like 6 consecutive years once upon a time.." Which got me thinking, which players can you remember being "targeted" as mid season trade acquisitions for multiple years/the most? More recently, I feel like Whit Merrifield's name was an annual thing for 3 or 4 straight years. Who else am I forgetting?

Watched Suter throw to us and switched over to the Houston game just to peak at it to see they have Ben Gamel, Jon Singleton, and Mauricio Dubon all in the lineup today.

The baseline is determined when the pursuit of runner is established.

One of the reasons Braun was always a .300 hitter in his prime was because he was fast enough to leg out slow choppers to the left side and could 'steal' hits. Same with Yelich. Chourio has 1.25x the speed of Braun and probably also Yelich. He will be stealing a lot of hits for the next decade.

Maybe a top 10 all time underrated Brewers player?

lol, is it just me or if there was any kind of relay there they would have had Sanchez? He took his liberty getting home and wasn't looking back...
