  1. They probably jumped the gun on pulling your tickets but I think you have to look at this from the other point of view. The person was probably having an equally crappy day and heard the f-bomb after he said something to you. No matter what comes out afterwards people will assume the word is 'you'. I'd write a letter to the ticket office and explain the situation and maybe they'll toss you some vouchers or something. As to some of the other posts I think as fans we need to do a better job of policing each other sometimes. I'll include myself since I'm not normally one to say much but there have been many times were I should've said something. If you're obnoxious you should be taken out. If you have an occasional lapse of politeness and yell an angry word at the field of play I think that's ok. To me, cursing at another fan should never be tolerated and that person should be immediately removed. It's a fine line and there will never be enough staff at Miller Park to police everything. That said, I do think they need to look at bringing in more personnel for Brewers-Cubs games. The stands and parking lot are always flat out obnoxious. I won't be attending any Cubs games with my young family that's for certain.
  2. I doubt they move Castro, although I'm sure there's a price for everybody. Seems a bit like sticking a big sale sign up in the store window with a high-def big screen next to it with no price on it.
  3. Any takers on Adam Lind? Could have him for nothing besides the salary.
  4. I'd check into Mark Reynolds. I've read some rumors that the Orioles are/were trying to move him. That's kind of a contradiction to what I posted previous but he can be a difference maker for the 2 months of the season he's hitting.
  5. I agree with giving Green the job and using the current situation as an opportunity. Ishikawa and/or Conrad are not MLB starting options. Maybe Green isn't either but let's find out. He has nothing more to really prove in the minors. There are plenty of buy low prospect deals or retread vet possibilities but I just don't think any of them are considerably better than what Green is.
  6. This is exactly how I feel! There are just weird pauses; some not even at the end of sentences. Truthfully, he's better than alot of other teams' radio voices I've heard. We've been spoiled by the likes of Hughes, Powell, and Provus to be sure.
  7. Can't give up an out there with the bottom of the order up. Bad decision Ron.
  8. I'm not disagreeing but I'd love to have him supplementing Greinke and Gallardo if it's possible. Good pitching has been so difficult to come by; I think the Brewers owe it to themselves to offer Greinke a fair contract, with a small overpay in dollar value if it's necessary. I wouldn't overpay in years and there couldn't be a no trade clause with any number of teams. Offer 4-5 years at a similar price to what's been given out to similar pitchers in recent weeks and see what happens.
  9. Two thoughts: 1. That's a lot of money to be banked on a mid-thirties middle infielder. Those guys tend to wear down a lot more quickly than a say a corner IF. Bad investment IMO. 2. Votto is a beast. I can't say it's a bad investment but as others have indicated the contract won't end well. He is the 2nd best 1B in baseball right next to Pujols in my mind though. At 1B I think he'll age better than most. I'm thinking a Frank Thomas like decline so I don't think it's completely dead money but they've definitely locked themselves in and limited their options going forward. I'm not saying this happened with Votto, but if you believe you have a special player then it's all the more reason to get them to the big leagues sooner as opposed to trying to limit their service time.
  10. I don't think you can make any assumption one way or another with the "talks tabled" news. Maybe it means they've agreed on a range of what it's going to take, they have some sort of verbal agreement and Melvin's waiting on a approval from Attanasio.
  11. I think Joe is doing fine. It is a change of pace from Provus. I like the way he calls the games although sometimes he sounds like he's reading a cue card or something. I think as he gets more comfortable with his surroundings and the team and builds a little identity with the team he'll be great. I like the fact that there's not somebody laughing at Ueck's comments every other line. His calls have already started to have more energy in them.
  12. Yes, "Cloud" sounds much prettier than "you can put your stuff on our server and pay us for it".
  13. Sometimes the owners I think just need to sit these guys down and say, "You know what, I realize you want to win. We're not trading you. You're not going to request a trade and you're going to play out your contract. When the contract is complete you can go ANYWHERE YOU WANT TO GO. Until then, it's in your best interest to play hard if you'd like a big payday from a different club." To be fair, and I don't really follow the NBA closely enough to know for sure but it feels like a lot of the Howard trade talk is media fueled.
  14. The problem is they need to spend money on somebody so every year they have to shell out money to marginal players because that's the way the system is. This off-season will be the same; they'll bring in some more mid level talent because they have to. I don't know a way around it to actually build through the draft..if that's even possible in the NBA. I guess you could load up your team with young players and then completely overpay a few vets on 1 year deals or something. It's just seems like such an endless cycle of salary dumping and trading for expiring contracts. Another one of the many reasons why the NBA has never really captured my full attention.
  15. Here's my take on the Bucks as a casual fan: 1. Skiles wears out his welcome quickly. He claims to preach defense but his teams rarely play it and they look quite average on offense. It doesn't matter what the reasons for the players not responding but if they don't the coach must go. 2. They clearly don't have enough talent, coaching issues aside. They should trade anybody they can for a reasonable return. They have two things going for them right now: Jennings and Ilyasova. Unfortunately for them neither is a superstar. Jennings if guided by the right coach might have that ability. Ilyasova, in a rare moment of honesty by a pro athlete, has all ready proclaimed he'll play for whoever will pay him the most money next season. On a side note: the NBA financial structure is one of the worst in sports. The salary floor makes it darn near impossible to rebuild a team.
  16. Oddly enough, I never really took this take on it but you're absolutely correct.
  17. FedEx has temperature controlled trucks that will pick up any day of the week. http://customcritical.fedex.com/us/services/tempcontrol/ground.shtml Why even have a courier or delivery person at all? Just have someone with the proper training collect and package the sample. Then hold onto it in a security camera monitored location at the stadium until the FedEx truck comes. Interesting. Yes, then why not just have a refrigerated lock box of some sort and have them picked up?
  18. I appreciate your insights on this throughout the topic pebadger. I agree that the lab should have to prove that the procedure followed was to the highest standard and that they infact didn't make a mistake. I think this is where everything breaks down for them. I do think that it is important to realize that the WADA and the testing lab are highly profitable businesses and they are going to make sure that nobody on the inside speaks out against them. Let's be honest, it would only take one person to say, "you know, I've seen a few times where our procedure wasn't followed or where we've had inaccurate readings" and suddenly the Montreal Lab isn't the 'best in the world'. Just because these organization have procedures and protocols in place doesn't mean they're there necessarily to keep the organization in check or to keep the integrity of the sample, they're there because they must have something in place and they're convenient for business (I'm thinking allowing samples to be kept in one's home). I also agree with you about the opportunity to make some changes to the system. I think MLB has no other choice after this. That said, I'd really like Braun to come out more forcefully. If he's taken a lie detector, offered DNA, reproduced degrading of samples that would be great to hear! No, the burden shouldn't all rest on him to prove his innocence but unfortunately that is what it's going to take to ultimately clear his name. My gut feeling is that there will be more coming maybe just not in the time frame that myself and a alot of people would like. Somebody betrayed Brauns circle of trust likely for money and money will keep people leaking more details.
  19. I'm also hoping for some missing info. Honestly I'm a bit disappointed in what's out there so far. I don't really think there's enough info to completely judge one way or another but if no new information or facts about this case are provided I'm still having a hard time believing Braun.... as horrible as that makes me feel. Really the thing that I'm trying to stand on is: 1) the ratio being 4 times higher than any MLB player tested 2) The fact he knew he would be tested. For him to come out and give the statement he made at the conference and be guilty would make him one of the most arrogant liars around. I really want to believe that that's not the case. He has so much on the line with his long contract and business ventures in Milwaukee that I just can't believe he'd be that foolish. It's one thing to have the other teams fans dislike you but it's quite another to slap your home fans in the face. I hope with the entirety of the Brewers fan in me that he didn't lie to Milwaukee and the fans because I don't believe Milwaukee would be quite as forgiving as say, San Francisco. Hopefully that didn't come off as too negative. The bottom line for me is that I'm still undecided without any new information.
  20. I want to say I read somewhere that the Jays intend on moving Escobar to 2nd when Hechavarria is ready. Hart is definitely the man you'd move to get something. I just don't think now is the time. I'd demand an organization's top pitching prospect in return. Hart has been a top 10-15 OF over the past 2 seasons.
  21. I agree with you here. I doubt it's just a chain of custody issue. My question is if this is such a detailed testing system how the heck is there not a plan to have things scheduled to the point where the correct protocol is followed. There had to be more players tested so did their samples make it on time?
  22. I don't think there's too many clubs that would give up much to get him now. Move him at the deadline if they're out of it and try to leverage some team's desperation into a decent prospect.
  23. Wow!! A pretty fair deal as far as prospects go but I really like this for the Yankees. Pineda is a right-handed CC clone. I have to admit I'm slightly bitter that the Yankees of all teams landed Pineda.
  24. Just at a quick glance he looks to be a solid fielder with a little upside left. Looks like a good utility IF option.
