  1. Greinke needs to go tonight. You can't try and predict the future. Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. A win today and I'm good with whoever throws in game 6. The Cards need this game more than the Brewers. Needing a game against Greinke seems infinitely more difficult than against Marcum or Narveson right now.
  2. 1. Braun lf 2. Morgan rf 3. Weeks 2b 4. Fielder 1b 5. Hairston 3b 6. Kottaras c 7. Yuni ss 8. Wolf p 9. Gomez cf
  3. It should've been 101, but the 1 that lived proved there is still hope. Get the next one boys!!
  4. Ahh, some sanity. Thank you. The bottom line is our big boys didn't deliver when it was on the line.. this game. I don't like Kotsay in CF either, but calling out our manager after every single loss is quite sickening. They just need to win one of the next two to bring it back to Milwaukee. Were you all expecting a sweep?
  5. The problem is they don't have a month for Marcum to turn the stretch around. This is where I think think manager, pitching coach, pitcher, catcher need to sit down and have an honest conversation about Marcum's stuff and how he's feeling. Easier said than done, as I'm sure Marcum will say he's fine and his catcher would likely back him up. For my money, when he's right he's the best pitcher on this team so to not start him would be really tough, but considering his month long struggles you have to consider it. At the very least Narveson/Estrada need to be ready to go in inning 1. They can't afford to realize he's running on empty after 4-5 runs are on the board.
  6. I'm a little late to the show here. Game, I can relate somewhat to your situation. I worked in the Parks and Rec field for 7-8 years and couldn't advance how I envisioned so I decided to change fields a couple years back. Not sure how it is in Texas, but Parks in Rec in WI is a quite a close nit group across the state, at least at the municipal level. Everyone knows everyone or at least knows somebody in a different part of the state. It's a huge domino effect when there's a job opening and unless you all ready know somebody it's difficult. It sounds like you have experience now in the field that you're looking towards so that's great! Coaching, officiating, and grounds keeping are other ways to get yourself in the door so to speak. Heck, maybe even volunteer to teach a class relating to wildlife or something at the local community center. Anything to get yourself in that organization somehow so people know your name. General tidbits I've learned along the way: Much of the "right thing" to do when applying for a job is crap (IMO). Don't waste your time trying to get a name of who to send you info to. You will rarely get ONE specific person reading your application end it doesn't really matter (unless your applying to be somebody's personal office manager maybe). Plus if you address it incorrectly or misspell a name your worse off than had you just sent it to whom it may concern. Basically if they don't bother to tell you who to send it to don't bother trying to find out. Don't bother with call backs. Use your time to search out more opportunities. If they're interested they'll call you. References available on request is fine. Just make sure you have some ready to go if you're asked! I usually bring mine along to an interview and leave them with the appropriate person. Don't sell yourself short because you don't have the specific amount of experience listed in a job description. It doesn't hurt to apply anyway if you really like the job. Be creative in your experience and how it applies to the specific job. Almost every job has overlapping qualifications in some aspects, like customer service. Always tailor your resume to fit the job description. Experience still trumps education. Another job may open the door to THE opportunity you're looking for. Don't shut out a particular opportunity because it isn't in 'your field'. Make use of all your ability. While I work in Technology now, I haven't completely shut the door on Recreation. I'm working for a small college that has a new recreation facility on the table so somewhere along the line I may have the opportunity shift back if I want. Just my two cents.
  7. I like the optimism RockCo. I agree; if we win just one game we're coming back to Milwaukee. There are some that will not be happy or optimistic no matter what the team does. The series is over, Roenicke is an idiot, Melvin is horrible, we should've never traded for Marcum, etc, etc. Mostly, I think people are just craving wanting to see this team win it all. My father in-law asked me if I had anything riding on the series. I told him yes, a lifetime of watching, listening, and waiting. We're three wins from the World Series. I don't see any way that the Cards sweep us in St. Louis so I'm expecting it to come back to Milwaukee all on the line.
  8. I love Marcum, but there's definitely something not right with him. He likely has just run out a gas as some have already stated. I don't think you can afford to run him out there again this series. If we're fortunate enough to move on then maybe you give him a game in the WS, but for now you have to skip him.
  9. ........yet Cardinals are red. Uecker was a Cardinal. The Cardnials have given us home field!
  10. Indeed. It's not like this is some sort of oddity. It took the entire season to establish home field against the D-Backs. It shouldn't really be surprising we're at this point. If you take a step back and look at things this is actually really cool!.... That said, I think we need to score first in this game and crush their spirit early as they do have the momentum going in and the pressure is squarely on the Brewers to defend their home field. There will be no doubt in my mind that Miller Park will be the loudest it's been ever on Friday (crappy start time and all) but if the D-Backs put up a 5 spot in first again they'll have neutralized a lot of the energy in the park.
  11. I'm not worried. At home with Yo on the mound is a good place to be.
  12. Well, this is why it's important to have home field. I'll try to be as positive as possible. Game 5 at home with a chance to advance. I really don't care how they do it 3 games, 5 games, anyway at all. Besides it makes for better drama. All the other series' accept for the Rays/Texas are going to a 5th game as well, so it's not like we're in uncharted territory here....I wouldn't mind an epic comeback however.
  13. Clearly it's more important to save the extra pitcher than KEEP IT A TWO RUN GAME IN WHAT COULD BE THE DECIDING GAME TO GET YOU TO THE NLCS!!!!
  14. Hey, good thing we kept Wolf in so we can clear his spot in the top of the inning.
  15. How the hell is Wolf still in this game. We have an entire staff to throw. Get him the heck out of there!
  16. Man, Yo was locked in!! Can't wait for game 2. You really couldn't have drawn it up any better. Hairston at 3rd was a big move today. Came through with the bat and I'd say there was at least two plays that McGehee likely doesn't make in the field. I almost don't know how to react as we are now almost a 90% favorite to take the series. Game one is sooo huge. On a side note, I did think Kennedy was squeezed a bit on some calls especially in the early innings.
  17. Ahh, I see. Yeah, it sounds like something I might just be annoyed with. I guess I can't complain as it's my choice to not have cable but in this situation I'd be more than willing to pay on a per game basis.
  18. I saw this too. I guess for the price it might be worth a shot, especially since I have no cable. It's companion coverage so I don't think there's any broadcasting (not that that's always bad). I wonder how much the feed would be out of sync with the radio broadcast.
  19. Pretty good discussion here. I don't beleive advanced stats have ruined anything. If you're constantly debating with people who just state their beleifs as fact all the time maybe it's time to debate sports with a different group of people. Personally, I love stats but don't consider myself a "stat geek" and think the recent trend is for people to rely too much on them. A lot of the advanced metrics are very subjective. In many cases the creater has chosen what they think is important and includes that it in the calculation. Basically trying to inicate, "here's what actually happened, but here's what should've happened". Everything in life is 50/50 isn't it? Either it happens or it doesn't?
  20. And how do they do that, exactly? Who is going to watch this "poseur playoff"? Hopefully you realize that the major conferences make the most money because their schools have the most alumni and fan support. Yes, I do realize that. Truthfully, I've just become annoyed with D1 college athletics in general. Laughing their way to the bank likely won't be the case but they may as well just split off and do their own thing. I'd be more inclined to watch a "poseur playoff game" based on actual season results than a 2nd rate "bowl championship" game pairing based on money. The people making decisions are making them solely based on money, not what's best for college athletics. Yes, I realize money is important and college technically is a business too. However, I find it a bit hypocritical then when athletes are reprimanded for accepting gifts or signing memorabilia for cash. Either allow it to be a full fledged business and let the athletes get paid or clean things up with some tougher investigations/audits for every school and stop with this crazy realignment/expansion where now conferences are competing for teams with one another. Too much greed all around in my opinion and it's just the beginning as far as teams jumping around. I'd expect this sort movement and talk of teams moving each year unless there's some sort of guidelines set.
  21. I propose the remaining 60 or so schools not going into a 'major conference' form their own conference/leauge and play a completely random schedule with a playoff system and laugh their way to the bank as the 'power conferences' continue to play out their computer generated championship.
  22. I was basically going to post something similar. Call it what you will "all in mode" or whatever they aquired two frontline starters for guys they didn't know weather or not they would be good, great or nothing. Lawrie appears to be the real deal thus far. Perhaps the others will also be very good too, but when you're close you take a shot. Yes, you need to restock the farm and do a complete rebuild from time to time, but spending each year trying to build for a potential mythical future and turn a blind eye to an opportunity that's right in front of you is a disservice to the organization and fans. I think the loss of Fielder will be less impactful than what people think, at least next season. If they return Greinke, Marcum and Gallardo they'll compete for the division. Throw in an upgrade at SS and I don't see much of a slip.
  23. Obviously I'd rather see Hart playing. Green getting another shot is nice and Kotsay is left handed.. I guess. Could be worse. We really should beat Arroyo with or without Hart in the lineup. I think the Brewer bats wake up this game and they win in a slugfest 8-6.
  24. ...and somebody got paid to put this together. Meanest players in baseball?? What the heck is the point. At least if they're going to do a pointless poll make it entertaining like hottest wife/gf, most weapons in his locker, best video game player, best poker player, position player with best curve ball... I don't know something useless but entertaining with a story to go with it. I agree it does sound like a Jr. High girls poll.. no offense ladies.
  25. No. The time to trade him would've been at the deadline last season. He's also the most valuable hitter the Brewers have had in decades. I may feel differently if they hadn't made a concerted effort to make a run at things this season, but only 8 teams make the playoffs each season and if you're in you have just about as good a chance as any team there.
