  1. I don't know how good suppan is but he is one thing that most of the Brewers Pitchers are not and that is reliable. You know what you'll get out of him. Sure he isn't going to have any shutouts but he won't pitch the Brewers out of many wins either.
  2. I think it was BA magazine and they did a Brewers lineup in 5 years, and they had HArdy at 3B and Escobar at SS, which makes a lot of sense. I guess it all depends on who the Brewers decide to keep.
  3. yup I really like 175 but sometimes the callers into those shows are just terrible.
  4. I bought an 83 Donruss Tony Gwynn RC graded 9 for $8 off ebay last year. I can't imagine Topps being much different.
  5. Smoltz or call me crazy but I might keep Swisher. Swisher is a nice 2 position player who could do really well in Chicago's lineup. I am pretty down on Carmona though.
  6. I love those minor league bobbles. I just wish I lived closer so I could go get them instead of look on ebay. Great list.
  7. A lot of base cards arent very valuable. For future reference if you wanted to see the value just put it on your watch list. Most cards are listed at below $1 to start for cheaper listing fees and most don't get heavily bid on until the last few hours. I've sold a couple cards that were $.99 up until the last hour that ended up selling for $50. Good idea for a thread BTW
  8. Yup Why bring in a hired gun who wouldn't be in the rotation after May, especially when they have a few good prospects who could benefit from getting a few MLB starts and not cost them a few million. The Angels don't seem to ever make desperation trades and with that division this year I doubt they would start now.
  9. I don't know about NL leagues only but in a combo league resist the urge to spend a lot of money early because there will be plenty of cheaper players available later that are just as good especially pitching. I would also suggest to tier up your players by what you are willing to spend on them. good Luck
  10. Best place to check is ebay. Whatever it goes for on their gives you a very good idea of what it is worth. I know it sounds like a generic answer but it truly is the best place to look.
  11. I am not going to go through all replies to all you replies. This is so stupid I didnt know I was arguing with captain message board. I have no problem with someone saying I am wrong it is you opinion but you seem to take a lot of time to tell someone they are wrong. What is so off the wall about my comments? Main points: On this board Capuano and Vargas are overvalued Most Trade rumors are made up (a lot of the Santana rumors were false the GMs said a lot of players mentioned were never mentioned) Sounds absolutely crazy to me You can disagree with me all you want because those are just my opinions As far as examples of trades I've read Crisp, Aj Burnett, figgins, etc As far as not knowing what literal means well I know what it means. If you want to keep dissecting everything I post in my thread go for it, have fun. It nice to know someone cares to point out how wrong I am because internet message boards are serious business. We have different opinions big deal Sucks about the Gopher loss yesterday but it is nice to see Tubby turn that program around. Go Gophers
  12. there is no way the Rangers trade Salty but if they have a few C prospect like people stated earlier possibly. The thing is their long term plans are not to have Salty catching so they'd probably want to hang on to their top C prospects.
  13. I think Kendall is a nice improvement defensively if you take into account how he calls the game. Neither can throw out a base runner to save their lives but I think the way Kendall will help the pitching staff will be very valuable.
  14. Those magazines use AVg not OBP when ranking players and it is a huge difference in this case. Burrell was 18th last year Abreu was 55. I've kind of thrown out a few other trades and I'll see what happens
  15. It is head to head AROD, Ichiro, Abreu, Cabrerra and probably Pence will all steal 20+ bases and if Ellsbury starts he'll steal a bunch. That is a lot more then probably any other team has. Sure I don't have someone who will steal 50 but I have a handful who will steal 20+. I really don't like Burrell but he has good power and he won't hurt my OBP%. Good points though.
  16. The majority of trade rumors out there from the media have zero substance behind them at all. You can't say that you don't assume to know anything that the rest of us don't, then you go onto say that the majority of the rumors out there have zero substance behind them at all. To make that definitive statement, wouldn't you then have to have inside knowledge of those conversations? Also, I think you need to understand that there is a difference from a blog suggesting what MAY be a good trade, or a thread doing the same, and a report of a possible trade. And as far as media reports of possible trade rumors http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Wow, not only is this condescending(as TooLiveBrew used it as an example that there were actual trade talks and you essentially laugh in his face), but I find it ironic that we're to take your word for it, and ignore the baseball writers who have actual relationships and connections with baseball people. I'm sorry, but if it's between you and Peter Gammons, I think I'm going to side with him. I guess what I find distasteful is your almost gloating that the Brewers haven't made a trade yet and citing "all these trade proposals"(without actually citing one single example of a ridiculous one) and the premise that you know they haven't had talks....not to mention the mocking. Jesus christ, how literal is everything taken around here, this thread has become rediculous. I am referring to the ridiculous trade rumors on this board that people are making not about anything the team is doing. Obviously there is a possibility these two pitchers could find new homes I just can't believe how overvalued they are on this board, that is all. I guess you need to add a disclaimer for people who take everything completely literal. I know the difference between a blog or suggested trade in a thread because that is what this thread is about not reported possible trades. So either I am not explaining it again or you aren't reading my posts correctly. I don't know anymore then anyone else not even going to pretend to, unless you think ESPN, blogs where ESPN steals info and rumors from, are always using credible info when they report trade rumors. ESPN is a joke and it is in their benefit to make sports interesting and entertaining. Sure I am sure a lot of their trade rumors have merit but a lot of them dont, for example the majority of Santana's rumors. "I guess what I find distasteful is your almost gloating that the Brewers haven't made a trade yet and citing "all these trade proposals"(without actually citing one single example of a ridiculous one) and the premise that you know they haven't had talks....not to mention the mocking" Once again this thread has nothing to do with the organization, simply reading it would answer that. Anyways How do you know they have had talks? Do you know something we don't know? If you don't like me saying what I said you can always ignore it. I apologize to anyone who is offended that I don't think that Capuano or Vargas have that much trade value. we can agree to disagree.
  17. They'll be fine they had 6 descent SP when Spring training started. They just need to find a rookie or someone to fill in the #5 spot for a month. There is no reason to trade for a SP that you will only use for a month.
  18. I agree but I have a surplus of R and SB Here is my team it would probably help 1B James Looney $12 2B Aaron Hill $1 SS Orlando Cabrerra $4 3B AROD $45 r OF Ichiro $28 OF Bobby Abreu $19 OF Hunter Pence $19 UT Konerko $11 P Erik Bedard $23 P Gagne $8 - overpaid big time P Ben Sheets $9 P Tim Hudson $6 P Ubaldo Jimenez $4 P Scott Kazmir $15 P Fransisco Rodriguez $20 - overpaid P Carlos Villanueva $1 P Adam Waingwright $4 Bench 2B/SS Ryan theriot $1 OF Wladamir Balentien $1 OF Jacoby Elsbury $7 OF/3b Bill Hall $3 OF Carlos gonzalez $1 OF Colby Rasmus $5 P Scott Baker $1 P Luke Hochevar $1 P Brian Wilson $2 P Chris Carpenter $2
  19. There is no way they'd get Figgins for any of those SP and Gwynn Jr.
  20. I don't need a closer I need HR and RBIs. He is pretty much throwing Lyons in because he has cap problems.
  21. ok I am kind of 50/50 on this trade I was proposed and I usually just figure it out but I thought I'd like to hear what the good people here had to say. It is an auction keeper league(wouldn't keep any of these players though) We use basic 5x5 only we use OBP% instead of Avg I was offered Pat Burrell Brandon Lyons for Abreu ad Theriot Right now I have a well balanced lineup but if anything I have a lack of power in which Burrell would help me out with( I have a bunch of 20-25 HRs minus AROD and Konerko) , and Lyons could be a nice extra closer to have. burrells biggest two weaknesses dont affect me (avg and Ks). I do like Abreu and how complete a player he is and theriot is a nice bench player who can play two positions. What do you say should I pull the trigger
  22. No one called me a jerk I do think someone might be interested in some of theCrews SP but I have never seen two bad pitchers so overvalued in my life. I wonder what people would've thought what Teddy Higuera or Juan Nieves was worth. Internet/media trade rumors are jokes and are often used to get people to read their stuff. I really do hope this threads blows up in my face and they get some solid prospects for them.
  23. I'm gonna say probably not. An injury prone 1 or 2 for two 5s is not a very good deal for them unless they just wanted to dump contract.
  24. I'll take Rottino based on we are both from racine
  25. I don't assume any knowledge that anyone else doesn't know. I was an jerk I guess because I found it amusing the insane amount of trade proposals on this board involving these two and I can't be the only one. I do think they could get something for Bush not much but more then what they could get for the other two. Hell I'd love to get something ok for the other two . And as far as media reports of possible trade rumors http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif The majority of trade rumors out there from the media have zero substance behind them at all.
