  1. Dunn is hitting .244/.378/.480/.858 vs RHP which means he's a massive upgrade over Overbay.
  2. Buster Olney tweeted the Braves are pushing hard for a lefty reliever. Sending Gorz to Atlanta and getting back Koji and Carp seems like we would be fleecing someone. But hey, that is what message boards are for right? Reality says, the seldom used Gorz would probably net Carp only though. Gorz was just one part of the trade. We'd have to give up prospects of our own as well. It should have looked like this. Brewers send Gorzellany to TBA Brewers send prospects to Redsox Brewers receive Uehara and Carp from Redsox TBA sends prospects to Boston TBA receives Gorzelanny Redsox send Uehara and Carp to the Brewers Redsox receive prospects from TBA and Milwaukee
  3. I wonder if the Brewers might look to make the Red Sox a one stop shop for acquiring all their needs at the deadline? We all agree that Jimmy Nelson for a half year of John Lester is preposterous but what if we also received Koji Uehara and Mike Carp in the deal or Lester + Napoli? I'm thinking back to 2011 and the Cardinals trade of Rasmus for Jackson, Rzepzinski and Dotel and I'm hoping we can do something similar.
  4. You can get around by having the trade include a "ptbnl"
  5. Thats kind of what I'm thinking. You could trade Price again to get a young starter back as well.
  6. If Melvin was creative he could make a 3 team deal work out nicely for Uehara and Carp. We would just need to find a contender who needs a lefty like Gorzellany down the stretch. Brewers send Gorzellany to TBA Brewers receive Koji Uehara and Mike Carp from the Redsox TBA receives Tom Gorzelanny TBA sends prospect to the Redsox Redsox send Koji Uehara and Mike Carp to the Brewers Redsox receive prospect from TBA and whoever the Brewers ship over.
  7. He's probably going to be non tendered in the off season so I can't imagine it would be much. He's buried on Boston's depth chart so they might be happy with getting anything worthwhile for him.
  8. Carps the type of buy low candidate that could really flourish with some regular playing time. He's posting a .361 OBP vs RHP so between 1B and LF he's an improvement at both positions. Carp - .237/.361/.357/.717 vs RHP Overbay - .242/.328/.366/.694 vs RHP Schafer - .182/.265/.284/.549 vs RHP Davis - .226/.280/.430/.710 vs RHP Reynolds - .217/.305/.433/.738 vs RHP
  9. Any deal for Napoli has to start with our competitive balance pick.
  10. Howard has actually been worse than Overbay against RHP but I wouldn't bet on that going forward. I would take a flyer on him just for his LH power if the price was right (read: barely anything). The way I view it is if if he stinks just play Reynolds the majority of time and if he turns it around you got the strong side of a 1st base platoon locked up cheap for the next couple of years. This is of course assuming that he's about to get Bill Hall'ed and the Phillies are willing to get any salary relief they can.
  11. You have no concerns about a hitter with a sub .300 OBP? How about his .223/.273/.415/.688 line vs RHP?
  12. That would be my guess as well. Sizemore is an improvement over Schafer with the stick and can still play CF if needed.
  13. How about Grady Sizemore and Reid Brignac? Sizemore has been killing it since he joined the Phillies and Brignac just came off the DL but was raking RHP before getting hurt (albeit in a small sample size). Brignac vs RHP - .293/.369/.466/.835 Sizemore since joining the Phillies - .379/.419/.448/.868 These guys wouldn't fix our 1st base problem but they'd make our lineup very versatile top to bottom against right handed and left handed pitching. Plus you could still acquire someone like Adam Dunn at the waiver deadline as an improvement over Overbay.
  14. Game of Thrones fan? I try to use that term as much as possible thanks to Stannis.
  15. The weak side of the platoon plays less than 40% of the time. If Reynolds continue to struggle you could use those games to give Lucroy a break by playing 1B and starting Maldonado at catcher.
  16. The Marlins are leaning towards selling which means Garrett Jones could be an option. With his ability to play the corner outfield he'd be my top target.
  17. The only thing we should sell is one of our extra LH relievers to the Angels for one of their many solid RH relievers. Other than that I hope this thread wasn't serious.
  18. It's tough to peg his value. He's having a a very good year and is under team control for another 2 years after this so he doesn't seem like the kind of guy the Cubs have to get rid of. I just wouldn't overpay for a guy who's been below average pretty much his entire career.
  19. The solution for the missing bat from our lineup is Ben Zobrist. He's an improvement over both 1st basemen, provides the security we need in a 4th OFer and could even start at SS in place of Segura who's been awful vs RHP and beyond putrid vs lefties. Zobrist would be an improvement over any of these guys so getting him into the lineup on a daily basis would be no problem at all. Khris Davis vs RHP Jean Segura vs Anything Mark Reynolds vs LHP Lyle Overbay vs LHP
  20. I'm obsessed with the idea of adding Morneau but the problem is the super team friendly contract he's signed for the next 2 and a half years ($9M option in 2016). Why would any team trade an asset like that unless they were blown away? Im afraid its gonna take 3 or 4 prospects to get the job done and even then the Rockies might prefer to just keep him around and regroup for next season. If the Brewers were to go that deep into a trade they better get the Rockies to toss in a reliever. I like the idea of adding Zarraga to the package but you're gonna need quite a bit more than that for the Rockies to pull the trigger. Would you guys do this deal? The more it hurts the more you know its pretty even. Brewers trade RHP Taylor Jungmann C Shawn Zarraga OF Mitch Haniger RHP Damien Magnifico / David Goforth Rockies Trade Justin Morneau LaTroy Hawkins
  21. What does he have to do to get bumped up? He's a man among boys in Rookie ball.
  22. Overbay has been playing much better lately. He's posting a respectable .338 OBP against RHP now.
  23. Thats the same exact package I thought of as well, however I don't think that would be enough for the Rockies to bite. We'd have to come up with something better than Rogers or Morris as the second piece to the deal. If they countered with Mitch Haniger would you do it?
  24. Bobby Abreu is the OF from the Mets we should be targeting. With Davis, Gomez and Braun all being right handed there's nowhere Chris Young would play.
  25. Bullpen help makes the most sense in matching up with the Padres. We lack a 2nd late inning RH reliever and they have 2 who should be moved. I would love to add Seth Smith but I wouldn't give up a whole lot for him with the way Khris Davis has hit of late.
