  1. Stetter was really good far a while as a LOOGY, but the reason he went to Nashville wasn't because he was great.
  2. Well, Bush does sound negative sometimes. I'm curious. Who are the relievers, where did you hear this, and what problems do they have with Macha?
  3. Hmmmm... 5 errors in 32 games. There's a decent chance that the one at 1st could be fielding a throw rather than a batted ball. Thanks for checking. Not great, but maybe he's coming around. If you give him a mulligan on the one at 1st, that's about 1 every 8 games. That's around what decent MLB 3rd baseman do. He also seems to be involved in a lot of double plays. I dunno, small sample of low quality information, but at least it sounds positive. Maybe the thought of being an OF or 1st baseman focused him. /end ramble
  4. Luis Cruz drives an Escalade, likes eating at a Japanese steakhouse and thinks he's the best dresser on the team. I checked out a couple Mana songs on Youtube and they've got a Grateful Dead feel to them. Sounds like a character. I wonder if he gets a bench spot next season. Take a walk Luis!
  5. I suppose its a debate that's being waged elsewhere, but my impression is that Macha is very different than Yost who would project a guy into a position for whatever reason and leave him there when there are better choices for very long periods of time. I'd like to see open competition for 3B next year. It could be that Macha is the best opportunity for that to happen. I know most disagree with that. But putting that aside, I don't recall many recent errors by Gamel. Are there game logs somewhere that give error results, hopefully including whether they are throwing or fielding? Maybe they're there, but I looked at Fangraphs, B-R, Firstinng and the Milb sites. If they're not available, anyone want to join in, maybe take a week or a month and go through the recaps/boxscores and put it together?
  6. I saw Bush yell into his glove. It was a fleeting shot. Here is a quote from MLB.com: "I haven't pitched as well as I can, and I guess as a whole, we haven't played as well as we can. The inconsistency has plagued all of us, not just me." That makes me want to yell into a glove as well. If someone unpopular took that attitude, they'd get roasted. A chunky catcher who just got picked up for nothing pounded out 2 doubles and a game winning 3 run homer. Forget what your teammates did in some other game, admit you SUCKED.
  7. I'm sure they're starting Parra to see how he does. Ditto for Narveson. Isn't Cappy a FA after the season? I sure hope they have a gentleman's agreement or something because otherwise doing well as a starter just means he's getting more money wherever he ends up pitching. Seriously, the whole thing with Macha being responsible for bad crops, cranky girlfriends and auto breakdowns is over the top.
  8. And Durango comes around to score when you give up a hit to the pitcher and the Devil Hobbit.
  9. Walking the little CF who has mostly infield hits and Eckstein - good grief Manny. Now you get to face Adrian Gonzalez with 2 men on.
  10. Somebody has to play SS once in a while to give Esco an off day. It wouldn't surprise me to see Melvin bring back Counsell cheap although I hope not. If Cruz is one bench infielder, I have a hard time imagining Melvin having 2 younger bench guys.
  11. What is it that makes you think Garth Iorg gives false reports? Also, I guess people want to believe that Isom saying Gennet's best chance to play in MLB is as a 2B means he is unable to play SS, but the language flatly does not support that conclusion. If he was trying to convey that, it would be a pulled punch.
  12. The guy isn't even throwing strikes except for the first pitch to guys who predictably won't swing. Hack, hack, hack.
  13. Would Cutter have been wearing one of the more protective, newer helmets?
  14. He's a big, young kid with talent. He's starting his professional career and doing things like changing mechanics. Why even worry about declaring someone a success or failure at this point?
  15. Some of these guys like Spilborghs, you'd think they were all stars the way they hit the Brewers.
  16. Move on up and start lobbying for a change in ownership! Good job Narv!
  17. After Macha is gone, you're bound to see less of younger players like Cain. I can't think of a manager who has used them more or seems more disposed towards giving them a chance. Melvin loves veterans.
  18. Bucknor seems like a nice guy, but just not up to the job.
  19. I know if Melvin traded Prince for this guy and some middlin prospects and I had to watch another team do this, I'd be bummed.
