  1. You can pick the starting point and ending point wherever you want. Here is one selection. I don't think it really matters. When people are including DL time as part of Macha's "failure" or ignoring his last two STs or assuming that installing him as a permanent starter for X number of years as the only viable strategy for a young player, no manager will ever be "smart."
  2. If luck is used to refer to uncertainty, that's pretty damning, because those are two different things.
  3. Yes, but Gamel was given most of the starts when he came up - something like 21 of 30 after a week. I don't think many if any managers would have made him the permanent 3rd baseman, except perhaps Ned Yost. Any manager who did would probably be roasted for doing it as well.
  4. Yeah, anybody who is the "future" should just play every single game.
  5. Sinker slider guys might as well be throwing invisi-balls. Prove me wrong Prince.
  6. Seems like Rickie gets hit in that same spot a lot.
  7. I can remember Gogo laying down at least one perfect bunt when he was a Twin playing the Brewers. Cassilla followed it up.
  8. Kid looks like he's having a hard time breathing. C'mon Ryan.
  9. Yeah, and it looked like an upper deck shot off the bat. I thought for sure it was gone. He centered on it with a big uppercut.
  10. Rundown 1st and 2nd, Weeks heads home, run down there and Tracy bounces the throw and Rickie spears Soto.
  11. Wolf had some pitches he didn't get last night either. Not that he didn't suck.
  12. Blue Angels busy practicing overhead. A fly by would have been cool. Also, how does Theriot always get those dinks?
  13. I probably like Bush less than anyone around here, but he's good for those unexpected, every now and then, surprising starts where he baffles the opposition through 7 or 8. Its so unexpected today, I'm going to say he does pretty good. Oh wait, he does good when I curse a blue streak at the guy. I dunno.
  14. He started 28 times over about a 2 month period and was used in a bunch of others. Saying that he should have been installed as a permanent starter immediately and left there regardless is debatable. Maybe you don't think he should have been a September call up. You keep talking about his service time as if it was all time rotting on the bench. BA is the main component of OBP. Its fashionable to use OBP, but it really doesn't matter about winning hearts and minds when minds are closed. Ks are used to evaluate prospects all the time.
  15. No, I'm not sure what you're reading, but saying that he has a quicker path to the majors is not the same as what you just said.
  16. It doesn't matter why a starter gets converted to relief, it only matters if they will start again. If Jeffress needs the focus of pitching everyday to stay off grass and into his career why would he come back to the rotation? You are totally certain that when Isom tells Gennett one thing it really means something very different. Here you are absolutely certain that the comment by Ash completely encompasses why Jeffress is being moved. Not only that you assume that its some permanent condition. They may also view it as a path to get him on the major league roster so they get nothing out of the guy. They may view that as the most likely way to have him as an eventual starter. Those are just some of the possibilities. Maybe they want him to refine a couple pitches first. The list goes on. They may view it as problematic to have a bunch of pitchers clogging up the 40 man to avoid rule V.
  17. They keep drafting high. I think they only need a decent level of competence to produce results from that. A lot of their trades have been for players who have a good chance to wash out.
  18. Sean Halton seems to like the Florida weather or something down there. It'd be nice if the power develops. /reaches for a positive
  19. Hoffman did look good. Might as well get him his 600. Chris seems like a nice guy to have in the bullpen next year. Riske wil be gone. I wonder with the perpetual need for relievers if a competing team could use him.
