  1. Ok now that's a little over the top negative. Corey has been a stud this year, though hasn't been on his game the last couple outings. I think he finds it again right here.
  2. Brewers have been awful defensively in this series. Even with the painful loss yesterday, if we get 2 of 3 I'll be giddy.
  3. Also Hader better get into this game later if he's bringing Drake in specifically to face a lefty EDIT: shut up BuckyBrewer61 Craig knows best
  4. Don't get why Torres is in there when Hughes has been so good of late. Or god forbid you use Barnes in a huge spot in an inning other than the 8th. Guess he did his job...barely.
  5. That whistle (I agree it sounds like the X-files) is very annoying. Anyone know what the point of it is?
  6. What's the deal with the X-Files sounds on strikeouts by Yankee pitchers?
  7. I'm guessing (hoping) Craig is giving Villar every chance to turn it around while Sogard is on the DL. Bat leadoff, no looking over your shoulder, prove you've still go it. If he doesn't, then it should be Sogard's job when he returns, at least against every RHP we face.
  8. Today I can't help but step back and soak it in. Regardless of how the rest of the season goes (and I believe in this team more and more each day), this is a time to just appreciate the great ride these guys have given us. Hopefully they carry it to NY and give us 4 days to continue the same next week.
  9. I'm very curious about this. I'm sure reality is somewhere in between, but I can't remember once this season thinking that a run scored because we had the contact play on. I can think of many instances where a runner was thrown out by 3 steps because the contact play was on.
  10. Logically I know it's just one game, but this one just feels more important. Brewers are hot, chance to finish the first half strong and add to the division lead, and get revenge for the postponed sun-out game. Here's hoping we get good Zach Davies.
  11. I love Arcia as much as the next guy, but let's be honest. That was a good heads up play to get to 3rd, then a bad slide and he was extremely lucky to not run into an out. If that was Villar we'd all be crucifying him. Nonetheless, pretty entertaining to watch.
  12. It's a good question, not sure the answer but I think it's still a possibility. He is a classic buy-low guy. Two-time all-star having a down year, arby eligible after this year but team control through 2020. Even if the team is struggling, if he gets back to career norms he suddenly has trade value to acquire young, controllable pieces or even be a part of a contender in 2-3 years.
  13. For the sake of argument, let's assume this is true: Brewers 44-39, 79 games remaining. At .470, their remaining record would be 37-42. Final record 81-81 Cubs 40-41, 81 games remaining. At .520, they finish 42-39. Final record 82-80 Cards 39-41, 82 games remaining. At .520, they finish 43-39. Final record 82-80 The later in the season we get, the less separation any supposed difference in talent makes in the final standings. If what you say is true, the Brewers are destined for a pennant race down to the last day of the season. Far from the other shoe dropping and the Cubs/Cards running away from us.
  14. This season, Arcia's BAbip over this recent hot stretch (past 40 games) is .416, prior to that it was .236. His true ability with the bat at this point of his career is certainly somewhere in between. I love the guy and think he is the real deal, but his production with the bat for the past month+ is a bit of an aberration.
  15. I really, really hope someone saved the no holds barred, anything goes vent thread from after we lost the NLCS. And I really hope it gets re-posted. It wasn't fun at the time, but I'm sure in retrospect that thing would be gold.
  16. Yeah by far most common in MLB for a low seeded team to make a run or even win it all, probably followed by NHL then NFL. NBA is the worst playoff in sports IMO, half the teams legitimately have no shot whatsoever, and we have to spend weeks watching the inevitable teams get eliminated to slowly get to the final matchups everyone knew were destined since October. Even if they have the lowest odds of all playoff teams, if the Crew gets in there is legitimate reason to be excited. Just ask the 83-win St. Louis Cardinals of 2006.
  17. Big difference between career MLB stats over 1679 vs 262 plate appearances. And Susac is currently carrying an OPS of .499 in AAA this year. Vogt has been bad this year, but the previous 4 years had a cumulative OPS+ of 106. I don't know the average OPS+ is for backup catchers in MLB, but I'd imagine it won't be tough for Vogt to meet and likely exceed it.
  18. Not sure what's not to like about this - assuming Pina still gets most starts, we just picked up a backup catcher who was an all-star the past two seasons. His numbers aren't world beating over that time, but if he returns to form he'll be the best backup catcher in baseball and a left-handed bat off the bench. And all without trading a single prospect.
  19. Anyone know if there is a story to the overhead clap more than "we just started doing it and now it's a thing"?
  20. Why Bandy 6th? It's Mark Kotsay batting 3rd all over again. Is it really that big a deal that certain players stay in the same spot in the order day by day? Is Broxton and Arcia 6/7 really gonna throw them off their games? With that, Bandy will hopefully have a big day and prove me wrong.
  21. I'm a Rock supporter but definitely second this. A ball is a ball and a strike is a strike, doesn't matter what the count is or how close it is.
  22. Amen, which is why I am glad the Brewers are giving their in-house options (Hader, Espino) a chance before deciding to trade off some assets to another club for the inherent unpredictability of any bullpen arm. If we are still contending and our guys still aren't cutting it then I'm not against a trade, but would hope we make every effort to give the guys already in the organization a shot first.
