  1. i agree with you 100%. with 14 pitchers on the staff, and riske/torres having closing experience, yost blew it. gagne has looked good, but with so many options, 4 days in a row was stupid. and then who closes today? or do we use gagne 5 days in a row? (pared back long quote --1992)
  2. just throwing this one out there (ouch, that hurt my arm)--do the brewers have any starters in the minors ready to help out at the mlb level sometime this year? EDIT: Do NOT use all caps in the thread title - b19
  3. well its time for the rest of the pitching staff to hike up their jockstraps a little higher and earn their money. did anyone really think sheets would pitch this entire season injury free? vargas gone--cappy hurt for season--sheets hurt--gallardo just coming back, wow. all the starting pitching depth talk and 'ideal' rotations from a month ago is long gone. this all changed in a hurry.
  4. the solution is simple regarding the brewer's early seasson up and downs--fire ned yost.
  5. most loved charlie moore, overbay, yount, pete vukovich, gorman most hated franklin stubbs, sean berry, sheffield, ned yost
  6. your right. and we have been carrying 12 pitchers, now 13 with gallardo back. yesterday no one was up in the bullpen going into the 7th inning--why not? and what about a long slow walk to the mound after the HR to get villy a moment? severe lack of influence on ned's part. he needs to take a page from larusso in affecting the course of a game.
  7. 20 game fan choice in diamond loge. last year all games in 213-214. this year all games in 210-212. we are pissed.
  8. good for him, like improving his play to the level expected of a starting mlb outfielder, due in part to his history of success with the other players mentioned before in the minor leagues. remember, he is my choice here only because of a lack of better options--and i am presenting it here as a best case scenerio. hart and hall were part of this group and neither were mentioned with the WEEKS/HARDY/FIELDER trumpeting, yet both have turned out to be pretty good. maybe the same thing can happen to tony jr.
  9. 82, 139 with pitchers
  10. after listening to and watching most of the brewer games last year, i cant fathom this ranking at all. and watching his performance over the last 5 years, yost should maybe be ranked as the 31st best manager in mlb.
  11. corey hart gets the edge over hall right now and should be batting 5th. and ADD THIS IN to this argument--hart has not had his career year yet, and bill hall may have already had his. hart is on the upswing and hall seems to have leveled off. yes, the yost questioning has started
  12. this is a no win topic--gwynn vs gross. is this the best the brewers can do for backups? especially knowing cameron will miss 1/6th of the season? add gapler to the mix and that's about as weak as any set of outfield backups in the major leagues. hope that none of the starters get hurt. playing with what we have, i say give the 25 year old gwynn the nod. he spent several years in the minors with weeks, hardy, hart, and fielder and this may be good for him.
  13. please put the ozmeister in for the drawing. thanks, pedro.
  14. keep hitting--D is ok-but until we make playoffs--keep hitting.
  15. who cares--he is not brett favre. at this point does anyone care who is in a brewer uniform as long as we win? please -this is 2008--the players don't care about you. i say just win with whoever you have on the team, and then worry about next year. don't fall in love with any of the players--WAKE UP CALL--they could give a rats ass about you.
  16. be afraid of him--at least in the dugout.
  17. weeks is due. too good a hitter in college that has taken a bit longer to get adjusted--on another team he would be an up and coming stud. ala bj upton. stay healthy and he is a top 5 2nd baseman.
  18. cards in last. only for this year. how the mighty have fallen.
  19. put the book away! there is no way this stat analysis can predict the effect on the line up that this pitcher batting 9th will have on a bunch of players who have been stars at every level and are not used to it. the effect of 2-3 runs per year and the UNKNOWN effect of the pitcher in the 8th spot is not worth the risk for this team. let's focus on the in game managing decisions and the pitching staff first.
  20. RELAX EVERYONE and turn on some jazz--he's drinking decaf!!
  21. this is an obvious attempt to get more traffic to a weak and under-utilized website.
  22. with salaries again set to skyrocket the next couple of years (see post regarding the year 2018) for all teams--thanks to an influx of good young talent and full baseball stadiums--and with limited media revenue for the brewers, there is only one thing DM can do to turn/keep this team a consistent winner. draft picks and the farm system. we will lose some players to free agency due to $$$ issues--sheets in 2009, probably fielder in 3 years, ? after that, but with creative financing of buying out arby years and good draft picks from free agent losses, a rule V here and there, we can stay competitive. the scary part of this is to having to be very good and very lucky with your draft to add a crop like hall,fielder,hardy,hart,gallardo.weeks.braun every 4-5 years.
  23. corey could go 30 hr with 35 sb's. he will be fun to watch. may the force be with you.
  24. i give him a 'B'. solid for the bullpen--'A' slightly below average for the position players. let's say a C-. cameron is a B- and the lack of anything else is a D. at this point we have a weak bench. oh wait -- i forgot about russell brayan.
  25. hart will be a 25/25 guy this year. his stats could be more impressive except for the fact that he is so versatile, and the brewers may need this. i also like him as my favorite brewer because he was always the 'odd guy out' when talking about the young upcoming players--jj,weeks,prince--especially since he was such a stud in the minors. BOLD PREDICTION. corey hart will be the best player the brewers have had since yount/molitor.
