  1. The Hardball Times has an article today about contract extensions. It discusses one "done deal" (Beckett), one "work in progress" (Fielder), and one "long shot" (Dunn). Interesting tidbit: It appears that Fielder is more motivated to strike a deal with the Brewers than was Teixeira with any of his early employers. Whether this is due to a particular affinity for the organization or something else is a matter of speculation. Judging by his play on the field, he apparently has developed a certain level of comfort in Milwaukee. And, for whatever it's worth, the elder Fielder (Cecil), spent the meat of his career in an upper-Midwest city, Detroit. Of course, the younger Fielder's eagerness to cash in might be due in some part to the ridiculous winter-2011 class of free agent first basemen.
  2. I hope this is the low point of the season, because if so they're only going up from here!
  3. If the players didn't receive high salaries, the owners would take in that money as profits. The price of tickets is a result of people being willing to pay the money. I'd rather my ticket price money go to the players that I want to see play rather than the owners' pockets.
  4. Just make sure to keep your shirt tucked in at all times so as to not disrespect anyone.
  5. I will be there, laptop in tow, and wondering if it is too early for a beer. I will probably decide that no, it's never too early, when the crew is playing in the playoffs. If you wanna share a BF pitcher, I'll be the one with a macbook and a blew longsleeve old-logo Tshirt.
  6. Probably at the Memorial Union between classes. Unless the crew is losing a blowout, I'll probably be skipping my 3:30 class!
  7. Does anyone know if Sveum was sending Rickie in the 9th today when he got thrown out at plate? I have heard it said that he ran through a stop sign but I was listening on radio and didn't hear anything about that.
  8. Also, rickie is starting to come around. Since April 20, his BA has increased 30 pts, his OBP has increased 30 pts, and SLG increased 27 pts.
  9. i must say, bf.net is a place of sanity over on the bubbler (former JS forum) you've got maniacs calling weeks lazy, stupid, and dumb all over the place. another suggestion over there is to bring up gamel and have him play 2b.
  10. but look where that season went. nowhere. The crew was 91-71 that year. Didn't win the division, but it was a very exciting year. In fact, it was my first summer as a kid after moving to WI and that year made me a brewers fan for life.
  11. i would think they'd both be here until Yoga is healthy, no?
  12. Hi guys & gals - I'm happy to be joining you all here. One thing that the writers overlooked, and something which actually will improve our BP over last year: With 8 potential starters and only 5 spots in a rotation, we could have up to 3 starting-caliber pitchers who are in the BP at any given time. This should help out a great deal in middle & long relief. If a starter implodes and only lasts 4 innings, we might have the option of bringing in a guy from the BP for 4 or 5 innings, which would keep the late inning arms fresh.
