  1. It's still worth a shot. If he's even worse than Bush, so what. We'd lose the game either way.
  2. His contract says he can ask for his release if he is not brought up by June (I don't recall the exact date). So if he has another good start they will likely give him a shot up here, otherwise he will likely ask for his release.
  3. His second start Tuesday was pretty good. At this point he couldn't do any worse than Bush. Or Parra. Or Villanueava.
  4. The decision to fire Yost is only half of the equation. The other half is his replacement. Certainly a mid season replacement means someone on the current staff and virtually everyone assumes it will be Simmons. And that's probably right. But Simmons has zero managerial experience at any level and had never even coached anywhere before this year. He has been in the front office and was the Pirates GM for awhile with little success. Maybe Yost has burned out the team to the point that any replacement would be an improvement. I sure wish we'd have a manager with experience getting a team to the playoffs. But the time to make that move was the offseason.
  5. Agreed. But at least we were put into the only 6 team division in baseball. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  6. Simmons was certainly a great player but great players don't necessarily make great, or even good, managers. Simmons has spent his time since retirement in front offices, he's never managed at any level, never even coached until this year. I'd rather give Sedar the chance if they boot Ned. I know that won't happen but I don't know that Ted is any better than Ned.
  7. Yes Molly had injuries in his career but he played 158 and 158 games his last two years and in fact had averaged 145 games in his last 5 years with the Brewers (154, 155, 103, 158, 158). So the injury argument isn't really valid in lowballing him after the '92 season.
  8. This laundry list of failures also highlights just how crappy baseballs economic system is. The Yankees and Red Sox have had their share of blunders too. But when they do a signing that doesn't work out (Hammonds), they just go out and sign some more guys to take his place. We could never do that. We had to live with our mistakes.
  9. Well, as Bando said, Molitor was "just a DH". http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  10. 0-4 since Turnbow was given the boot. He was the glue that held this team together.
  11. Supposedly we now have our "regular" director but he's just as bad as the fill-in. And for all we new the regular guy is a newbie since last years director is now doing Arizona games. You usually get what you pay for. I guess FSN pays minimum wage in this case. Or maybe it's a high school kid serving as an intern.
  12. Really? We averaged 35,422 last season, about 85% full, this season we are sitting on 33,784 (which is actually about 3,000 more than last season at this time).
  13. I don't know about that. It would be plenty rank.
  14. You would rather spend money on Bucks tickets then Brewers tickets because Gallardo gets hurt? Ok. Green font means sarcasm
  15. I have to agree. With Yo out it's over. Now I can save the money I was planning to spend at Miller Park and buy more Bucks tickets.
  16. Well Wrigley is a dump, so throwing garbage makes sense. There is plenty of it available in, and around, that hole. Smells like a toilet, falling apart, the whole neighborhood around it reeks like a garbage dump. Other than that it's a fine place to watch a game.
  17. It would certainly be odd seeing the Brewers as the visiting team at MP.
  18. A semi wildcard in this is Weaver. If he's still in Nashville in June he can get his release and sign elsewhere. If he sucks down there it doesn't matter. If he pitches well Melvin may want to bring him up to hold onto him. Weaver made his first start last night for Nashville. He gave up 4 runs in 6 innings, not very good. But he struck out 7. We'll see how (if) he progresses.
  19. Yost probably manages better when he has less choices to make. With two more bench players than we had last week he'll be more easily confused. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Maybe Doug will throw us a curve ball and it's Weaks getting sent down. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. I see the title of my thread has been edited to add a "?" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif One part of it already has officially happened after I started this thread (Dillon) and the other has too (Turnbow). It just hasn't been announced yet. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. My source is a good one inside the organization. It's a done deal. Dillon is on his way.
  23. It's not "official" yet but it's happening. Dillon will be in Houston for Fridays game.
