  1. That mindset is the problem. Assuming that these guys have "much talent". Hardy has had one half of one good season. Weeks will have a hot streak for a few games followed by a cold streak of a few weeks (no pun intended). Over valuing talent is certainly on the GM.
  2. I'm afraid we will muddle through the next week 4-3 or 3-4 and that will be enough to keep the status quo.
  3. As much as it looked like the "perfect storm": owner, GM and manager all together, an off day on Monday, Doug heading to Nashville.... the reality is Doug and Mark simply wanted to go to Fenway to see their team play. Doug had made plans to stop in Nashville on his way back to Milwaukee before the current losing streak. A firing may very well happen soon but it seems as if many were reading too much into things.
  4. I still think Attanasio wants to make a change and Melvin is pushing to wait. Once we change managers then Melvin will be the one under the gun.
  5. Simple supply and demand. A team out of contention in August & July = cheap tickets. Other than last season this has been an annual event for this franchise for many years.
  6. I know Gumby and he has zero interest in managing the Crew. He doesn't want to be tied down to a full time position. He is happy managing the Woodchucks for a few weeks a year and hanging out at Miller Park from time to time.
  7. People who don't renew or who switch to less games aren't "jumping off the bandwagon". Everyone has a certain amount of cash to spend on recreational fun. We have a very limited amount of nice weather around here and I can't blame anyone for taking some of their Brewer cash and spending it somewhere else. It doesn't make them any less of a Brewer fan.
  8. A day off is perfect. Plus both Melvin and Attanasio are in Boston. Put Ned on a plane to Atlanta and be done with it. He'll be able to watch the Coca-Cola 600 in person next weekend.
  9. While Braun is brutally honest, our manager continues his Ostrich impersonation.
  10. That audio problem today was horrible.
  11. I'm fine with Ned not calling out his players by name in the media. I never thought that was effective. But I'm sick to death of the stupid excuses he keeps coming up with. How about "Four errors is completely unacceptable. We have been stressing better defense since last season ended and a major league team should never commit four errors in a game".
  12. It's time this organization remembers that this is a business, not a fraternity. The owner can't fall in love with the GM, the GM can't fall in love with the manager and the manager can't fall in love with his players. Something has to give. If it's Melvin's fault, then get rid of him and promote Jack. If it's Ned's fault, get someone else in here. If it's the players fault let's make some changes. It's a great story that so many of these guys played together in the minors and it's a great story that they all get along so well. But being in last place isn't such a great story. This is Ned Freakin' Yost we're talking about here. SIX years!
  13. At least we're not the Pirates. Oh wait, they are ahead of us. Nevermind.
  14. Quit overreacting. TIED for last place. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. Yost is the Terry Stotts of baseball. Except he gets 6 freakin' years to show his mediocre "talent".
  16. Excellent book
  17. Exactly. Now that the novelty of interleague play has worn off there is no reason they can't have at least one IL series going and even out the leagues at 15.
  18. I could do without the Twins every year. Then we'd get to see an additional two AL teams instead. The Twins weren't even in our division in the AL, they've never been our "rivals" other than they are in the next state. So are the White Sox and Tigers. Keep the rivalry games for teams that have real rivals (Cubs/Sox, Yankees/Mets).
  19. B&B said last night that the staff had found something wrong with Bush's delivery (and CV's) and were going to work to correct it.
  20. Exactly. And as I pointed out there were numerous "faster" Brewers that hit into more DP's than Kendall did last year. And he wasn't batting ninth. We'll never know how things would have played out yesterday. I just don't buy into the "it would have been a DP anyway" logic.
  21. Those three things alone are huge. Maybe Houston doesn't trade Lidge in the division.
  22. Also, Kendall last year grounded into 8 double plays. Hardy 14, Braun 13, Cameron 9, Bill Hall 9.
  23. Kendall has hit into no double plays this year. And the "he hit a ground ball anyway" argument is shaky at best. Bases loaded and one out is a lot different than runners on second and third with two outs. Pitchers pitch differently, hitters take a different approach at the plate. To say the botched squeeze play didn't matter because he would have hit into a double play anyway is a very large stretch.
  24. For the Ned lovers out there, a squeeze with the bases loaded (and therefore a force play at the plate) is a bonehead call. And apparently they don't, like other teams, require the batter to signal that he got the squeeze sign. That's on the manager. And yes Mark certainly knows what's going on. He's said many times in the past he follows each game on the internet (wow). But he seems to show up at MP a lot more when the team is doing well. Early last season - Mark at a lot of games. Later part of last season - not at many games. Early this season - at several games. Last two home stands - not at any games. Maybe he doesn't have enough frequent flier miles yet for a return trip. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  25. But that's exactly what you need to do during games Ned. You have to be reactive and proactive. You can't wait until after the game to decide what you should have done.
