  1. I look forward to draft week every year. I usually designate Saturday as my annual garage cleaning day, just so I can listen to sports talk radio all day without upsetting my wife. I’m a big BPA proponent, but I’d love to see the Packers go TE, OL, and Safety (in no particular order) with their first 3 picks.
  2. Thanks for the explanation. Count me as someone who is still skeptical. I foresee a lot of finger pointing in that situation.
  3. They are paying for personal auto insurance. There is no way they are paying for commercial insurance. It's part of these "ride sharing" companies deferring costs onto drivers while removing their own liability. That’s what I thought. So if I’m badly injured as a passenger, can the driver’s insurance company deny me help because I was a commercial passenger? They’d probably tell me to sue the driver. I’m certain Uber and Lyft have found ways to absolve themselves of responsibility in this situation.
  4. The original 53-episode run of Arrested Development was 10 years ahead of its time.
  5. If I use Uber or Lyft, how can I be sure my driver is properly insured? Are these independent contractors paying for commercial auto insurance or are they just hoping their insurance carrier doesn’t find out they are driving on the side?
  6. I think Duluth is just good. Historically good. They are the first back-to-back champion since Denver in 2004 / 2005.
  7. I’ve used COMC. It’s a neat website, but it’s a better option for buyers. You’ll have to ship your cards there and then pay a 25 cent processing fee per card. While your cards are for sale, you’ll be charged 1 cent per card per month for ‘storage.’ Then, if a card finally sells, you’ll pay a 5% commission. I wouldn’t bother sending a card to COMC unless it’s worth more than $1 because you’ll pay at least 50 cents in fees per card. In a nutshell, COMC is a great way to fill holes in your childhood collection, but not a great way to sell your childhood collection.
  8. I have TiVo ($15/month) and Hulu ($1/month special through November). Disney owns Hulu via their Fox acquisitions and I was really hoping they’d just re-brand the Hulu platform after adding their own content. My wife has already determined we’ll get Disney+. I know my TV bill is light, but I hate stacking subscriptions. After a certain point, you might as well just have cable. Heck, my internet bill is up to $74, so Spectrum has found a way to extract their pound of flesh even after we cut the cord 4 years ago.
  9. I’m glad to see Tiger win one more major. He’s too great of a golfer to have his career end the way many thought it would.
  10. Minnesota-Duluth repeats as NCAA champs. 4 in a row for the NCHC. 2019: Minnesota-Duluth 2018: Minnesota-Duluth 2017: Denver 2016: North Dakota
  11. Packers I’ll be rooting for all of the others, but the Packers are the only team in my lifetime who has proven they can actually do it.
  12. Meh, you can count me as someone who doesn’t mind working at a corporate office. Sure, there are moments where I feel like I’m living in a Dilbert cartoon, but I work with some decent people and most senior managers are effective and approachable.
  13. I’d imagine it’s a lot more enjoyable to work for a company that’s thriving rather than one that’s merely surviving.
  14. Kohl’s has found a niche as a value department store. I buy 75% of my clothes every year from Kohl’s on Black Friday. I place an online order on Thursday night and then try on shoes and a stack of dress pants in the store at 5:00 am when there is hardly anyone else there. My wife and I then come back the following weekend to spend the Kohl’s Cash I earned on sheets and towels. She’s happy to get new linens and I’m happy to get free linens.
  15. I’ve sensed Shopko’s demise was unavoidable in the age of Amazon and in the face of stiff competition from Walmart and Target (plus now Meijer) in our area. However, I was rooting for their small store model to succeed. For many Wisconsinites outside of larger cities, Shopko was the best pharmacy and optical center option. They were a good Wisconsin company for a long time.
  16. I’m really bummed that Shopko is closing completely. I know their prices weren’t on par with other big box retailers, but they operated in a lot of smaller communities where they were the only discount retailer in town. They are also the 16th largest employer in Green Bay (where they are HQ’d).
  17. What is the etiquette on tipping a furniture delivery crew? I paid $60 for delivery. I’m guessing it’s unnecessary unless the delivery is especially cumbersome? I don’t get nice things often, which is why I have to ask.
  18. I dig AP Bio too, but I think it will always be a perpetual bubble show even if it survives this season. I loved the first episode last Thursday. Tonight’s episode was so-so.
  19. Good Morning, BF Friends - A serious question on workplace protocol: Last night, the father of one of my direct reports passed away. I’m a fairly new manager. My team is composed of a few guys in their 20s plus me (age 33). I’m working with HR to confirm our bereavement leave policy and check on any other benefits for which my colleague may be eligible. I plan on circulating a sympathy card and a cash collection within our department. I’ll also share the visitation details once they are known. Is there anything else I can or should do to help him through this difficult time?
  20. I guess Bret Bielema technically won a Super Bowl ring.
  21. ^^^ That style of play also wears down the opposing defense, which helps explain why the Patriots’ offense has been so effective in the 4th quarter. Strategy is part of their success, but I think we also have to accept that Brady / Belichick are special talents that can’t be fully emulated.
  22. I recall Seattle winning the SB the same year they had a record number of PED suspensions. I guess one guy doesn’t bother me so much. Maybe he read the label wrong. Whatever. He paid for it with a 4-game suspension. 5 or 6 guys in one year? C’mon, now that’s cheating.
  23. I found myself rooting for the Patriots. A Rams win would have only emboldened the most ridiculous Packer fans who want to sign big name free agents and trade picks for established vets. There’s no way the Rams keep their team together when they have to pay Goff $30 million per year. Their MO was to win now and endear themselves to LA fans. Maybe that succeeded in doing that, but they only have one more year to win a Super Bowl as presently constructed.
  24. For me it's: First Wisconsin Building Marquette Warriors Marc Plaza As an alumnus I am firmly on record that they won't get one dollar of donations from me until they get rid of the "Golden Eagles" abomination.... I often wonder how the Golden State Warriors have been able to thrive in California under the same moniker.
  25. Some gems from Twitter: Do you think AmFam would consider a name change to Miller Insurance? This would be a great news if the team was called the Madison Insurers. Maybe AmFam could endear themselves to Brewer fans by adding an adjustable roof to their logo.
