  1. Shoutout to the early birds who have to be up in 5 hours. For as poorly as the first half went, they played a great second half.
  2. Just don’t ask if they were embarrassed like that Bills reporter did after the Patriots only passed 3 times. That’s apparently unprofessional. That guy got shredded on Twitter for that, FWIW. He's apparently about as well liked as Haudricourt. I have zero journalism credentials, but I imagine that question is only appropriate in a very small number of circumstances. Losing to your biggest rival after they only passed 3 times is one of them. Tonight’s ST performance is another.

  4. So Jakeem Grant was on the trade block for a 6th round pick, but BG said “No, we’ve got Malik Taylor so we’re good” ? (half sarcasm)
  5. I just got to halftime on the DVR, but here are my mid-game raw thoughts: 1) There was a better CB than Kevin King on another team’s practice squad, but Green Bay still gave King $6 million to return for one more year. 2) I guarantee Tom Brady has never had to deal with a ST poop show like this, but your average NFL fan will continue to heap praise on him. Tom Brady may be the GOAT, but he’s not 7x better than Rodgers. 3) If I’m the Packers, I don’t punt unless they’re in an impossible conversion scenario. Just keep giving Rodgers 4 tries to convert and hope he comes through.
  6. They have three very winnable games at home against the Panthers, Falcons, and Jets (plus an away game @NE). Unless the wheels fall off, they’ll probably go 3-1 and finish 10-7. They were once a media darling, but should still make the cut in the AFC. I was really hoping they could do the Packers a favor this week.
  7. I feel like they should win by a lot, but it seems like it’s never that simple.
  8. After a close loss to Alabama, a Houston staffer trashed the visitor’s tunnel on their way back to the locker room. After most of the team walked by the mess, one player stayed behind to pick up the overturned trash can (and the trash). Both the staffer and the player were caught on video: https://www.yahoo.com/news/houston-trashed-coleman-coliseum-loss-174510825.html
  9. A Vikings defender knocked the ball out of Chase Claypool’s hand after the play was over. The Steelers did not have any timeouts and there were only 30 seconds left. It should have been penalized as a delay of game. Those sneaky Vikings … https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/chase-claypool-controversy-vikings-pull-off-sneaky-move-vs-steelers-that-probably-should-have-been-penalized/
  10. Everyone can do without cable, but the internet is practically essential. I’m a big free market guy, but I almost want to see it regulated like a utility. If the cable company wants to raise internet prices, they should have to prove to a state board that their costs have increased. If We Energies also sold VCRs on top of providing power to half of Wisconsin, we shouldn’t have to pay more for electricity because their VCR business failed. That’s pretty much what happened to the cable companies. They sold bloated TV packages at inflated rates until Netflix distributed their business, but they’ve still got a hook in us because we all need the internet for school and work. I can’t wait until Elon Musk figures out how to deliver satellite internet for half the price of what the cable companies charges.
  11. I don’t think he’s everybody’s cup of tea, but I agree. He likes to entertain and make people happy - so much so that he gave up a semi-lucrative career as an NFL punter to pursue comedy.
  12. Pat McAfee signs a $30mm/year sponsorship deal with FanDuel. The guy couldn’t get a steady gig in traditional media and now he’s making more than Tony Romo. https://www.yahoo.com/news/pat-mcafee-signs-30-million-210609779.html
  13. You know what’s sad? Consumers have cut the cord and the cable companies have still found ways to extract their pound of flesh. 10 years ago, my monthly internet bill was $37. Now it’s $80. Those fat cats are laughing harder than Ray Liotta after he cashes a check for appearing in another Chantix commercial.
  14. Vikings win on TNF, so the North cannot be clinched on Sunday.
  15. Is anyone else excited for the new Macgruber series on Peacock?

    Pizza

It’s the cardboard box. It’s the only pizza at that price point that’s not wrapped in plastic. It makes it look fancier than it actually is.
  17. As nice as it would be to hold the #1 seed, the #2 seed is a nice consolation price. It at least guarantees a second home game if they win on Wild Card weekend. The #4 seed would likely have to play the Cardinals or Rams division runner-up in the first round. That’s a draw I’d like to avoid.
  18. For the record, I have no problem with it. But I think we’re headed toward an ESPN-driven super league with only 30 teams. College Presidents, many of whom pride themselves on inclusiveness, will have their jobs depend on making this exclusive club.
  19. All scholarship Texas Longhorn offensive linemen are getting $50K per year from a booster group. I thought the terms of NIL meant you at least had to film some commercials or sign autographs, but this seems like just a direct cash payment. What is college football going to look like in 5 years? Wow. https://www.yahoo.com/news/no-nil-money-no-recruits-231127787.html
  20. Love to the COVID list: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/packers-place-qb-jordan-love-213152156.html
  21. I’ve been browsing Zillow for years and dreaming about buying land in the Northwoods or Door County for a future vacation property. We’re starting to get serious about buying the land (but are years away from building). Anyway, my wife is adamant about Door County because there is a Target in Sturgeon Bay. Rhinelander and Antigo each have a Walmart, but no Target. I’m going to wind up paying twice as much per acre because my wife refuses to shop at Walmart. I don’t think she’s alone. Many people think like that or their wouldn’t be the detailed analysis that Snapper mentioned. Also, Go Pack!
  22. My apologies … those were Oxford HS (Wildcats) hats. I honestly thought they were some kind of alternative logo. They looked similar enough to a lion.
  23. There are only 5 teams in the NFC with winning records right now.
  24. RE: Ravens going for 2 and the win If you make it, you look like a genius. If you don’t, you look really silly. I’m of the opinion that if you’re the inferior team, you should go for it (nothing to lose), but if you’re the better team (like Baltimore) kick the PAT and demonstrate your superiority in OT.
