  1. That’s bananas. For $455, Christian Yelich better deliver it.
  2. To all the Teachers on BF: My son just started 4K. I’d like to get his teacher a small holiday gift. What’s the most I can spend without raising questions about impropriety? Is a $20 Target gift card acceptable? Are there gifts you like? How about any gifts you’d rather not receive? I’m just trying to avoid an awkward situation while, at the same time, showing my appreciation for a very kind teacher. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays. -Nodakfan
  3. This article pokes fun at all the crap teams sell in their pro shops for >$300. A certificate entitling the holder to elect the team’s BOD is hardly the worst thing being pedaled: https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/2021/11/16/22786120/packer-stock-is-not-a-scam-murphy-lafleur-florio-rovell-goodness-gracious
  4. The Lakers were without LeBron last night, but at this point, it’s just about stacking wins. With the delayed start to last season, they are working on less rest than any championship in NBA history (with the possible exception of the 2020 Lakers). Then Middleton and Holiday spent an extra 3 weeks with Team USA. Lopez has had a remarkably healthy career for any player, especially a big man. He’s just 33, so you take what you can get. Hopefully, he’s healthy for the second half of the season.
  5. AJ Dillon received the ‘Key to Door County’ for being one of the peninsula’s biggest fans: https://www.yahoo.com/news/packers-running-back-aj-dillon-175701260.html
  6. Toward the end of the Ted Thompson era, when it was obvious to fans that Ted (RIP) wasn’t the same man who built a Super Bowl champion through the draft, I’m surprised there wasn’t a fan campaign to elect a new Board and fire Mark Murphy. I’m not suggesting that would have been appropriate or even possible, but I’m surprised a disgruntled fan didn’t muster enough support to at least make the news.
  7. No Boaty McBoatface? I’d buy that merch.
  8. Thanks. And what was wrong with Snappers?
  9. What were the others?
  10. Good stuff, Homer. Thank you. I’d love to see long suffering teams with good fan bases (think Browns and Bills) have an opportunity to buy their teams and install a Board of Directors to govern their respective franchises. That does not sound feasible under current league rules.
  11. All of their financials would be in the public domain. Also, some leagues (NBA for sure) specify a maximum number of shareholders. The NBA instituted this rule after Lasry and Edens carved out little ownership shares for all of their buddies. Going public would not be feasible when ownership is limited to a max of 25 shareholders. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nba.nbcsports.com/2015/01/29/report-nba-passes-rule-raising-the-bar-for-team-ownership/amp/
  12. I was skeptical about the stock offering at first, but I think it makes sense: 1) It’s been 10 years since the last stock sale. New Packer fans have been born or increased their disposable income since the last offering. 2) They may be capitalizing on peak popularity. The Packers are 34-8 in the last 2.5 years. Even if Rodgers returns next year, the future holds no guarantees. 3) They can replenish their reserve fund after the COVID year. I know they have to use the proceeds for improvements, but the stock sale would allow them to direct other income toward reserves.
  13. As a Green Bay native, I view it as a civic duty. The stock sales in 1923, 1935, and 1950 saved the team. The one in 1997 helped with the much needed renovation. I’m not sure how badly new video boards are needed, but I trust the Packers’ leadership to invest the proceeds wisely, beautify the Stadium District, and draw visitors to Green Bay. It’s the cost we pay to remain a major league city and, unlike a tax, it’s voluntary.
  14. It’s a good gig if you can get it.
  15. The Blake Bortles era quietly came to an end yesterday. I’m sure he’ll remain the ‘on call’ QB for the rest of the season.
  16. Looks like the Rams are on bye next week before their matchup against the Packers.
  17. We are missing a couple of injury plagued losing streaks, maybe coming up next? Someone needs to freak out about IR guys not being included in the team photo, although this Packers’ team has had more than its fair share of drama this year.
  18. [sarcasm]It’s like they’re calling their shot with the stock sale.[/sarcasm]
  19. I thought the timing of the stock sale was odd, but you make a good point about it coinciding with Rodgers’ (possible) final year. This may be the peak of the Packers’ popularity for awhile. That’s a little depressing when you think about it.
  20. I just heard a senior manager refer to Door County as ‘Up North’ and thought to myself ‘Buddy, you’re not Up North unless you can order Hamm’s in a can for $2 or less.’
  21. The Packers stock sale starts tomorrow. $300 per share plus processing fees. People who bought stock in 1997 or 2011 are limited to a max of 200 shares, so this is obviously a different class of shares than the variety last issued in the 50s. Those families have no interest in giving up their board seats. That’s poor corporate governance if you ask me, but I’m still going to buy a share. https://www.packers.com/news/green-bay-packers-stock-sale-begins-november-16-2021
  22. Aren’t the conference championship games effectively a playoff? I don’t like it when a team who didn’t have to play a conference championship game (because they didn’t win their division) sneaks into the CFP.
  23. Maybe if you’re a fan of a certain team, the CFP is brutal. 2 losses and you’re for sure done (unless you’re Ohio State or Alabama). I don’t have any strong rooting interests so it’s exciting for me to tune in and see Baylor beating Oklahoma. Bye Bye - they’re now on the edge extinction every game. That’s fun. I like watching the big dogs fall. It wouldn’t be nearly as exciting if you knew several 2-3 loss teams would make the CFP.
  24. I hope they stay at 4 teams. Every game is a playoff now. It makes college football exciting. For every undefeated non-Power 5 team they let in, they’ll add three more 2-loss SEC teams. No thanks.
  25. Not trying to derail the thread, but I keep seeing the AROD vengeance tour being referenced. I mean, if he's going on a vengeance tour because he's mad that people are mad at him for being a deceitful weirdo, I guess that's cool, but that's a dumb thing to put a chip on your shoulder for. IMO of course.... As Mark Murphy said, ‘he’s a complicated fella.’
