  1. With the Vikings dropping 2 in a row, the Packers can clinch the NFC North with a Vikings’ loss to Pittsburgh on TNF and a win next Sunday.

    Pizza

Papa Murphy’s used to be a really good value, but now a large pizza is $15. They run $10 specials regularly, but you can’t just walk in and expect a good deal. When they first appeared in Wisconsin around 2000, they were a great alternative to chain pizza shops ($7 or $8 for a large). Now Domino’s, Little Caesar’s, and Pizza Hut all sell cheaper pizzas.
  3. [sarcasm]Why are the Lions coaches wearing Nashville Predators hats?[/sarcasm]
  4. The wunderkind? I guess being an OC in college is a little easier when you work for a team that can hoard the best players.
  5. The presumed CFP field is fair. Notre Dame was the only 1-loss team left out and I LOVE IT. It’s not fair that everyone else has to play an extra conference championship game against a ranked opponent while they sit idle and wait to back in.

    Pizza

3 for $10 isn’t a bad price (especially these days). I still contend Red Baron stacks up well against anything $3.33 or less. But is it great pizza? No.

    Pizza

If you can get a Red Baron for $3 or less, it’s a good value pizza. If you’re paying more than $5, you’re going to be disappointed.
  8. I’ve had the same basement exercise setup for 10 years. I’ve watched The Office, Parks & Recreation, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, Veep, King of Queens, and Married with Children multiple times on DVD. It’s been a great run. Just this week, we stopped getting Laff over-the-air, which ran a lot of syndicated comedies around my bedtime. Watching an episode of That 70s Show had become my end of day reward and now I’m lost without that silly channel. I’m a simple, frugal guy who has gotten by just fine with OTA TV and old DVDs for years, but I think it’s time to join the rest of the world. I can afford $9.99 per month for some new content. Thanks again for the feedback, everyone.
  9. Thank you for that suggestion. For $9, I may give it a try. My wife is an Apple loyalist (hence, the two Apple TVs upstairs). I’m more inclined to go the cheapest route since we’re talking about a Frankenstein basement setup. Any recommendations? Roku? Amazon? Something else?
  10. Thanks, Patrick. More silly questions: 1) The TV in my basement is 20 years old and still works great for playing DVDs. What are the odds I can enable streaming on that TV with an inexpensive devise like a Roku or Amazon Fire stick? It would probably need to have a USB hookup, right? 2) Can I enable streaming on a spare computer monitor by plugging in a Roku or Amazon Fire stick? (probably not, right?)
  11. For the more technologically inclined BF posters: I don’t have cable and have been getting along just fine with network TV and a TiVo (love my TiVo, BTW). We’ve also purchased Apple TVs to enable streaming on our older TV sets. The only streaming service we’ve had regularly is Disney+, but I’d like to add a second one so I can watch new content while exercising in my basement. I’ve been re-watching the same series over and over again on DVD each morning and I’m ready to splurge on a cheap smart TV and second streaming service. Silly Question: If I buy a TV advertised as a smart TV with Roku, do I need any additional equipment to stream (besides a reliable internet connection)? This is one TV I have in mind: https://www.target.com/p/tcl-32-34-class-3-series-hd-smart-roku-tv-8211-32s325/-/A-50480431#lnk=sametab Thank you. -Nodakfan
  12. Target gift cards are 10% off on Saturday and Sunday only ($500 max). They usually run this deal once per year in early December. My household (like many others) spends a lot more than $500 per year at Target, so my wife and I each plan on buying a $500 gift card for $450.
  13. Giannis is just getting a rest night off - much much deserved. Boogie isn't going Back-to-Backs with his injury history until he plays his way into actual game shape. This was planned. Makes sense. Thank you. I usually follow the box score in the evening and I miss those types of details.
  14. What’s up with Giannis? I see he’s out tonight. Is it strategic test or injury related? Cousins is also out?
  15. This morning’s Ask Vic column mentioned that Notre Dame requires all freshmen (including football players) to take calculus. I’m guessing LSU has no such requirement.
  16. Does anyone else like watching Home Improvement, That 70s Show, and How I Met Your Mother in syndication on Laff? Laff is going away tomorrow in some markets and will be replaced by ‘Rewind TV’ with shows from the 50s and 60s. Lame.
  17. This one is pretty lame. The team changed ownership during the pandemic. Big Top Baseball, which owns several other Northwoods League teams (including the Madison Mallards) sold off the Booyah to the owner of Festival Foods. The new name apparently reflects the owner’s desire to bring more concerts to the ballpark, but the it has no other connection to Green Bay. I still prefer the original name they used from 2006-2018 (‘Bullfrogs’). It fit the wildlife theme the league had going for awhile.
  18. SeaBass - Thank you. I watched that whole clip from start to finish and it was spot on! (and good for some laughs) I don’t mind the Christmas movie genre. Sure, it’s very predictable, but it’s mostly just PG holiday fun. Does every small town have a friendly, farmhouse chic diner where you can get breakfast every day for less than $5?
  19. Do you really want to risk that? Ha. As charming as her hometown is, I’ve spent enough time there and I’m willing to chance it.
  20. In case you missed it, here’s a neat story about Giannis collecting his teammates’ basketball cards: https://sports.yahoo.com/giannis-shows-off-portis-divincenzo-221521526.html
  21. My wife loves Hallmark Christmas movies. Most of them involve a young woman going back to her hometown for Christmas and unexpectedly falling in love with a ‘townie’ from her childhood. Ironically, anytime I suggest we visit her folks in rural Wisconsin, I get a response like ‘No way, I’m never going back to that hole.’
  22. [sarcasm]This all must be part of that ‘Great Resignation’ I keep reading about.[/sarcasm]
  23. I’d have more sympathy for Oklahoma if they hadn’t just bolted for the SEC.
  24. More guaranteed money? LA lifestyle? Easier path to the CFP come 2025? It feels like a lateral move, but I can see why some might find USC more appealing.
  25. Imagine trading 3 first round draft picks to move up and take Trey Lance when you could have just stayed put at #12 and taken Mac Jones.
