  1. I was watching NBA Coast 2 Coast last night and they cut in on the Bucks and Celtics a few times. I saw the Ridnour injury. How is he doing? I couldn't fine any injury info on the web this morning. On TV, it looked like it took forever for the Bucks' training staff to get to him. I found myself rooting for the Celtics in 2008 (mostly because of Ray Allen), but now I'm starting to despise them. They celebrate every little thing that goes well for them on the court. They have 4 or 5 all-star caliber players on their roster, but they treat a single digit win against a young, mediocre team as a huge victory.
  2. I am as disappointed as anyone about how Alexander's pro career has played out thus far, but he was really a boom or bust pick (just like Jennings). At the time, I wanted Brooke Lopez, but I know why the Alexander pick was made - John Hammond thought that he had the higher ceiling. I'm just thankful that on his second try, Hammond got a "boom."
  3. I'm having visions of the Bucks sweeping the homestand. Probably won't happen, but there's no reason for them to not be at least 7-3 by next weekend. Agreed. 7-3 is very reasonable. I have my fingers crossed.
  4. So what was the best costume that everyone saw last night? Personally, I was glad that the Milwaukee Bucks decided to go as a basketball team.
  5. I know, I know, we're two games in, but ... ROY Watch: 1st - PPG 20.5 1st - APG 6.0 3rd - RPG 5.5 3rd - STPG 1.5
  6. When I checked the live box score halfway through the 2nd quarter, Brandon Jennings had 10 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. All I could think about was triple double. Obviously, the Bucks chances of winning a division title or NBA championship this year are slim to none. I need little victories to keep me optimistic like Jennings making a run at ROY and Mbah a Moute playing in the Rookie / Sophomore game or making the All-Defensive Team.
  7. I like Luke Ridnour. He's not a star, but he could still be a solid backup PG. The short (and long) term future of the Bucks depends heavily on the success of Brandon Jennings. I'd love to see him in the hunt for ROY. It would keep things interesting down the stretch if the Bucks are out of the playoff picture. Go Bucks!
  8. Mike Ditka (80s Bears sweater from ebay, clipboard, fake mustache) Mark Chmura (Chmura jersey and a bath towel) I love both of those ideas! How much does a Bears sweater-vest go for on ebay? I desperately wanted to go as Plaxico Burress by wearing his jersey and and a pair of sweatpants, but I couldn't find a jersey of his that was cheap enough to justify the purchase. I hope that it will still be funny next year.
  9. Well the full title for the USFL episode was Small Potatoes: Who Killed the USFL? Donald Trump was more or less the subject of the story. Of course he's gonna look bad. I've read Donald Trump's original book, "The Art of the Deal," where he features an entire chapter on the USFL. It's actually a good read and not an obvious attempt to make money or garner media attention like his more recent books. Anyways, in "the Art of the Deal," Trump explains that it was the NFL that was actually respsonsible for the the death of the USFL. When the USFL attempted to move to the Fall, the NFL made it very difficult for the USFL to get a major network television deal by threatening to not renew existing contracts with networks if they covered USFL games. The NFL was eventually found to be guilty of violating antitrust laws, but the USFL was only awarded $1 in damages. By the time the lawsuit was settled, most USFL teams had gone bankrupt. Yes, Trump was probably responsible for the downfall of the league, but had the USFL been awarded the damages that they were (arguably) entitled to, the remaining teams could probably have forced a merger with the NFL.
  10. The tickets are spoken for. Thanks for looking, everyone. Go Bucks!
  11. For Sale: 2 tickets to this weekend's Bucks vs. Pistons game at the Bradley Center on October 31, 2009 - It's opening night! (Section 400 - Row R - Seats 7 & 8) Asking Price: $10 for the pair ... Face value is actually $29 / ticket. Neither myself, nor the guys that I split the ticket package with can make it. Even though the seats are in the upper level, they literally straddle the center court line. It's a great view of the game. Please feel free to post any questions that you may have or send them to me through a PM. If there are any takers, I will throw the tickets in the mail ASAP. We can work out payment details later - I'm flexible. Thanks for viewing!
  12. Free pen night! It's limited to the first 10,000 fans, so I'll have to get there early. edit: I just realized that the Bango bobblehead giveaway is for fans 14 and under.
  13. I called my cable provider yesterday to inquire about NBA League Pass and found out that they don't even carry it. Now I'll be stuck watching the same 4 teams on ESPN all season.
  14. Andrew Bogut is giving away 100 free lower level season tickets to the craziest fans out there, he is hosting auditions and everything. Here is the link, it sounds pretty cool. Yeah, I think that it's a nice gesture on his part. Although, I feel bad for the guy who already plunked down money for season tickets. It seems to me like the most dedicated fans would already have season tickets. Oh well, still a huge postive for the Bucks in my mind.
  15. http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2009/10/22/amd_brooke_hundley_whistle.jpghttp://turbo.inquisitr.com/wp-content/2009/10/brooke-hundley-pictures.jpg These are also pictures of Brooke Hundley. She's definitely not a 10, but appears to be a pleasant looking young woman. The photo above is pretty unflattering ... but I did enjoy the Mike Scioscia comparison.
  16. I missed "King's Ransom" (Wayne Gretzky) even though I had good intentions to watch it. I've seen "The Band That Wouldn't Die" (Baltimore Colts) and "Small Potatoes" (USFL) and they were both very good, especially "The Band That Wouldn't Die." "Small Potatoes" was entertaining, but it seemed more like a series of subtle insults directed towards Donald Trump than an actual historical account of the birth and subsequent death of the USFL.
  17. How about a "Dan Gadzuric Night" ? The 50th fan through the BC gates can live like Danny G. for the rest of the night. He/she would sit in full uniform at the end of the Bucks' bench and receive 1/365 of Dan's annual salary- $17,000.
  18. I can't believe that the Bucks don't have their promo schedule out yet. Actually, I can believe it, but it upsets me nonetheless. How is it that the Brewers (who have far more people and games to plan for) can release their promo schedule 2 months before the season starts and the Bucks can't have one out 2 weeks before the season starts?
  19. According to that last article, she didn't even have the opportunity to give the ball back to Ryan Howard herself. Now I'm convinced - that was a ripoff.
  20. I haven't had a NFL jersey since I was a kid. I'm 5'10, 180 lbs. Should I order a large? I wear large jackets, shirts, etc, but I've heard the jerseys run big. I'm 6'1'', 185 lbs and medium jerseys fit me best for every sport (including football).
  21. Tony - I especially like your Scott Skiles "player" bobblehead idea. I had only envisioned him in a suit on my bobblehead wish list. All of the Bucks' promo ideas are pretty "vanilla" if you ask me. It's almost a guarantee that we'll see free ice scrapers, coffee mugs, and lunch bags. However, I like giveaways as much as the next guy. I contacted my ticket rep yesterday and he told me to expect to see the promotional schedule up by the end of the week.
  22. If she went with her brother only, who cares? My friends and I rode our bikes to games when we were 12. I don't think .or a second that it was irresponsible for her parents to let her and her 15 year old brother go to a game on their own. The fact that the kids were only 12 and 15 years old doesn't bother me. I'm sure plenty of responsible children attend MLB games by themselves. What troubles me is the fact that the mother made comments along the lines of "my daughter shouldn't have been allowed to trade the ball without a parent or guardian there." OK, that's probably true. So where were you? Where was her brother? She is only piping up because it is financially convenient. I'm also bothered by the fact that the girl stated that it is "her ball" and that she wants to keep it in her room. I think we all know where this ball will end up. I don't doubt the fact that the ball belongs to the girl. She is within her legal right to keep it (and sell it). However, in my opinion, she received fair compensation for it. Suppose that Howard hit his 200th home run in Milwaukee during a day game while you were at work, but your child was lucky enough to be be at Miller Park and catch the ball. Would you be upset if he/she got to visit the clubhouse of the defending World Series champs, give the ball back to a former MVP, and take home an autographed Ryan Howard baseball? edit: The cotton candy is just a delicious bonus!
  23. The World Series matchup that I'd be most likely to watch would be the Phillies vs. Yankees. I know that's a classic "casual fan matchup," where the big names and big markets would draw viewers in, but I'd make a point to watch it because I'm a sucker like that. I also find myself rooting for the Angels because of the Nick Adenhart storyline (and because they are not the Yankees or the Red Sox).
  24. The impression that I got after reading two different articles on the story was that the girl was at the ballpark with her 15-year-old brother (and not her parents). Did anyone else hear differently? If that's the case, her parents are lucky that the worst thing that happened to their daughter at the game that day was that she received free cotton candy and an autographed Ryan Howard ball. They shouldn't use ballpark ushers to babysit their children. Regardless of whether or not the ball belongs to the girl, this wouldn't be an issue if the parents took the time to take their own children to the game. You can't put all of the blame on the Marlins and Phillies. *Please disregard my rant if it turns out that either parent was at the game. I'm just a big advocate for personal responsibility.
  25. I haven't seen the promotional schedule yet. I don't think that it has been released. You'd think that they'd post it before single game tickets go on sale. Anyways, if the past is any idication of the future, there will probably be another Michael Redd bobblehead. I wouldn't rule out a former player either, since they featured Bob Dandridge last year. I'm sure that the promotional schedule will be released in the next week or two. In fact, someone could probably contact their ticket rep for an advanced copy. It might be fun to have people post some predictions here. My Prediction: 1) Michael Redd 2) Andrew Bogut 3) Brandon Jennings My Wish List: 1) Michael Redd (Team USA) 2) Luc Mbah a Moute 3) Scott Skiles
