  1. I’m waiting for the main stream media to put out a summary and pass it off as their own reporting. I gather it’s a real whopper.
  2. I use to run my mouth more in high school. It was easier when my dad was the one writing checks. Life has a way of humbling people. I’m just glad I didn’t have Twitter to capture every impulsive thought.
  3. I hope they’d at least place a call to OBJ’s agent to see if he’d be willing to sign for some nominal amount for the next 9 weeks, but adding him would be unlikely, in my opinion: 1) He’s probably looking for big guaranteed money in what could be his last large contract. 2) If he wants to chase a ring, might he consider the Packers toxic with the Aaron Rodgers / COVID situation? Wouldn’t an AFC team like Buffalo make more sense since their path to the Super Bowl is considerably easier vs. the top heavy NFC?
  4. You’re welcome. Maybe my experience is an anomaly. I bought the 4GB laptop years ago for $300 and it took 30 seconds to launch a web browser. My new(er) 8GB laptop cost $600, but runs seamlessly. Even though my needs are modest, I’d never go cheap again due to this experience. I didn’t mean to dissuade you from the Chrome books. I’m sure they work great for browsing.
  5. Tolzien was officially 0-2-1 as the Packers’s starter, but was on his way to 0-3 until Matt Flynn salvaged a tie against the Vikings. He threw 1TD and 5 INTs with a 66.1 passer rating. That’s about what you’d expect from QB3. I’m not knocking Tolzien. Clearly, by playing 7 years in the NFL, he was at the pinnacle of his profession. That’s just life in the NFL without an Aaron Rodgers (or even a Matt Flynn).
  6. It’s pretty amazing to think that out of all the people in the world, only 15 or so actually look good playing quarterback at the professional level and maybe another 50 look semi-competent. Guys like T.J. Rubley and Scott Tolzien, who at one point were among the Top 100 in their profession, looked downright incompetent when in the spotlight.
  7. I bought a laptop in 2017 that only had 4GB of RAM and it was an absolute lemon. I stopped using it after a few months and just gutted it out with just a tablet and my work laptop for 3 years. When I decided I wanted a personal laptop again, a friend (who is a manager at Best Buy) told me to go with 8GB of RAM to avoid performance issues. I did and have been pleased with my purchase.
  8. I’m trying to manage my expectations around Love. Only 1/3 of quarterbacks taken in the first round actually turn out to be long term starters, but I can’t help but feel a little charmed knowing Love was such a conviction pick by Management and the Packers have been so blessed in the QB department. It’s giving me a good reason to tune in and watch during an otherwise crummy week for the Pack.
  9. I’m looking forward to watching Jordan Love. Unlike the poverty franchises who refuse to redshirt their first round QBs, Love has a year and a half of seasoning under his belt. He might flop, but he also might excel.
  10. [sarcasm]Favre would have just played through it.[/sarcasm]
  11. I didn’t even remember the Leonard Little incident. Apparently, he only received 4 years probation and 1,000 hours of community service. He was suspended by the NFL for 8 games. This was in 1999. Donte Stallworth only received 30 days in jail, but was suspended by the league for a year. He also paid $5 million in restitution to the victim’s family, which may have helped him return to the NFL because he appeared contrite and quickly settled the civil charges. In 2021, it’s hard to envision a scenario where Ruggs doesn’t receive a multi-year sentence, if convicted. Wikipedia says his 4 year / $16.6 million contract was fully guaranteed. I wonder if there’s a character clause in there or if he has the means to settle?
  12. Obviously, the toothpaste is out of the tube, but I wonder if the NFL is having second thoughts about putting a team in Las Vegas? This probably won’t be the last time an NFL player makes a bad decision there. Vegas probably leads the league in distractions per capita.
  13. Blake Bortles to PS per Demovsky.
  14. [sarcasm]Of all the Halloween costume possibilities, he picks one without a mask?[/sarcasm]
  15. At least this gives the NFL a giant middle finger for trying to cajole an extra Rodgers vs. Mahomes matchup out of this 17-game season nonsense.
  16. I’m fine with 1-loss Power 5 teams leap frogging undefeated teams outside of the Power 5, but I don’t want to see any 2-loss teams in the CFP.
  17. Sternberger was released by the Redskins yesterday.
  18. LS Hunter Bradley waived. LS Steven Wirtel signed from the PS.
  19. I’ll bet he plays again before Jon Gruden coaches or calls another game. Donte Stallworth played again after a 1-year suspension and paying the victim’s family $5 million.
  20. Rob Demovsky appears to have gotten in a Twitter tussle with Jaylon Smith’s agent over the effectiveness of Jaylon Smith:
  21. Practice Squad QB Kurt Benkert has COVID per Kurt Benkert. I hope the QB room practices social distancing.
  22. The Broncos canned John Fox after he went 46-18 and made the playoffs in 4 of 4 years. They aren’t afraid of change.
  23. RE: Rodgers to Denver Even though Rodgers doesn’t have a no-trade clause, any team that trades for him will almost certainly want him to agree to a long-term extension as a condition of the trade (hence, Rodgers still has a good deal of leverage). I think Denver makes sense for the following reasons: 1) It sends Rodgers to the AFC; 2) The Broncos were successful with maximizing Peyton Manning’s final years (a fact I’m sure is not lost on Rodgers); 3) I don’t think Rodgers has much respect for NFL brass and regards himself as smarter than most decision makers, but I do think he considers John Elway a peer; and 4) the Broncos are projected to have $77 million in cap space for 2022. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/denver-broncos/ Again, I’m still hoping for the best as it pertains to the current year and Rodgers’ long term future in Green Bay.
  24. Steelers DE Melvin Ingram to Chiefs for a 6th-rounder: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2021-nfl-trade-deadline-chiefs-acquire-melvin-ingram-from-steelers-in-exchange-for-reported-sixth-round-pick/
  25. This columnist from the LA Times says the Broncos may have traded Von Miller with an eye on Aaron Rodgers. It gives them a few extra bargaining chips (2nd and 3rd rounders). I hope Rodgers stays with the Packers, but if they can’t work out an extension beyond 2022, then I think they need to trade him or risk letting him get away for a 3rd round compensatory pick (I don’t think they can franchise him based on the terms of his re-worked agreement). The starting bid would almost certainly be 3 first rounders (2022-2024). The extra 2nd and 3rd might give Denver an inside track. https://www.yahoo.com/news/commentary-line-von-miller-trade-023438579.html I’m still high on this season and cautiously optimistic that Rodgers will remain a Packer.
