  1. Serious question, what mid season trades have propelled a team to a super bowl? Trying to rack my brain and can’t come up with anything. First one that comes to mind: The 2017 Eagles traded a 4th round pick for Jay Ajayi who had rushed for 1,200 yards and 8 TDs in Miami the year prior. In 7 regular season games for the Eagles, he rushed for 408 yards on 70 attempts (5.8 YPC). He also had 57 rush yards in their Super Bowl win. I’m not looking for home runs - just upgrades at weak positions. The 2016 Patriots also traded a 7th rounder for Kyle Van Noy mid-season and he subsequently started 51 games for the Patriots over the next 3.5 seasons (including 3 Super Bowls). The 2015 Broncos added TE Vernon Davis for a 6th rounder.
  2. Nick Collins. Man. Every time he’s brought up, I think how much that set the team back. Play maker coming into his prime. There once was a YouTube video (probably long gone due to copyright infringement) that showed Collins’ Super Bowl interception set to My Heart Will Go On from Titanic. It brought tears to my eyes. Considering how the Packers’ defense sank without him, it seemed highly appropriate. What a player.
  3. FWIW, I think they’ve handled their last 2 stock sales well. Both times, they sold stock immediately after winning a championship and used the proceeds to improve Lambeau Field. By using the stock sales sparingly, they’ve ensured that the $250 pieces of paper remain desirable and by deploying them immediately after Super Bowl-winning seasons, they’ve maximized proceeds from the sales. Fun Fact: Prior to the 1997 stock sale, the original stock shares split 1000:1, so a fan in 2011 would have to have spent $250,000 to have the voting power of the original shareholders. A few old Green Bay families probably still have enough voting power to hold seats on the Board and they purposely voted for the 1000:1 split so as to not dilute their influence on the organization.
  4. Have the Packers ever made an in-season trade for a player during the Rodgers era? That’s probably a source of angst for fans. I get that there may not be a good trade available every year, but once in a while?
  5. I would absolutely take a Super Bowl this year followed by 5 (even 10) embarrassing seasons, however, given the choice between merely making the Super Bowl (followed by 5 losing seasons) or 5 years of 10-win seasons and annual playoff disappointment, give me the 10-win seasons. I badly want the Packers to win another Super Bowl, but I’ve enjoyed their sustained success.
  6. I’ve never considered losing a Super Bowl to be an accomplishment. Meh. It's definitely not close to the same level as winning one, but to lose a Super Bowl you have to win a Conference Championship, which I would take at this point. I consider playoff wins to be an ancillary measure of success and to lose a Super Bowl, a team still needs 2-3 playoff wins. That’s still something; however, I’d argue a team like the Packers going 3-3 in the playoffs over a 3-year span is still more impressive than a flash in the pan team going 3-1 in a single playoff appearance (and failing to advance or even qualify in subsequent years). By no means am I suggesting Packer fans should be satisfied with the past decade, but it’s fun to root for a team that’s in the hunt every year.
  7. I’ve never considered losing a Super Bowl to be an accomplishment.
  8. I rarely have full confidence in the Packers, but this feels like a game that shouldn’t give them much trouble. Then again, I had the same feeling before the Jacksonville game.
  9. If an undefeated Ohio State doesn’t make the CFP - that’s on the Big Ten, right? In hindsight, the decision to postpone the season due to COVID concerns only to resume 2 months later (as the pandemic worsened) looks really silly.
  10. Target has 10% off gift cards today (up to $500). It’s a great way to save money if your family spends a lot of money at Target anyway.
  11. I like egg nog and I like brandy, but not egg nog with brandy.
  12. Thumbs up on the Alexa stories. Being a huge Libertarian, I’m highly skeptical about digital voice assistants, but it’s really neat to hear about them having an impact far beyond novelty and convenience.
  13. Did Kenny Stills clear waivers? (I think so)
  14. Will Fuller suspended 6 games for PEDs ... dodged a bullet there.
  15. The Packers are signing Tavon Austin, per Rob Demovsky.
  16. Thank you! It was highly significant against Minnesota when there were only 4 possessions in the first half and the Vikings scored the last TD of the first half and then received th ball in the second half.
  17. Yes, the impact is so minimal that you are a bit nuts. So many variables to the end of the half that it doesn't nearly play out to the point of mattering. Packers scored on their first drive of the half and the Bears punted. I'm not sure how that is like a turnover. The Bears basically had back-to-back possessions (with only one Packer snap in between).
  18. I know some of you guys think I’m nuts for bringing up the coin toss streak, but losing the coin toss today was like a turnover. And the same thing happened a few weeks ago in Minnesota. 8 in a row!
  19. I had that same thought ... lots of pinks slips have already been handed out this week in the NFL.
  20. I don’t want to hear any complaints from the Bears unless it happens in overtime of a playoff game.
  21. They lost another friggin’ coin toss. 8 in a row. 2-9 on the year.
  22. Colts down 38-14 to the Titans ... adjust your expectations accordingly for when the Titans visit Lambeau in a few weeks.
  23. Wow. I’ll admit, I’m probably more disillusioned with the Bucks than any other fan on BF, but that’s great news. He’s so darn likable, I can’t help but root for him.
  24. That's alright. The game will be over by halftime. Over? For which team? (half joking)
