  1. I’m behind on the DVR and just saw this. The initial call was that Patterson touched it while in bounds. Somehow the call changed before it went to review? I thought he touched it first, but didn’t think there was enough to overturn the call on th field (which wasn’t even th initial call?). Bears caught a break.
  2. Bravo on the condiment pun.
  3. Who had the Badgers playing in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on their 2020 bingo card? Enjoy the game, Everyone.
  4. The length of Dillon’s Packers career is inconsequential to me so long as he lasts another 3 years and nets the Packers a comp pick when he departs. If he can’t make people miss, then let him pound away.
  5. Pau Gasol ... who played in 3 games as a Buck.
  6. Gard interviewed for the UWGB job in 2010 and 2015. Hypothetically, had he been offered the job in 2015, would Bo Ryan have retired when he did? The Badgers stopped scheduling UWGB shortly after Gard took over and I suspect that’s because he harbored resentment toward UWGB for passing on him (twice). Thankfully, those ties appear to be mended with Will Ryan in Green Bay. UWGB needs that game because it’s budget-friendly and helps raise their profile in the region. The Badgers could take it or leave it, obviously.
  7. My wife and I have similar educations, experience, and salaries. She is a state employee and I work for a public company (non-tech). Her benefits are better than mine, but I have some modest bonus and stock award potential that exceed the value of her added benefits in most years (she’ll definitely come out ahead this year). I think our situation is pretty typical. Most households earn their money in a linear fashion. Tech companies (and select others) are notable outliers.
  8. Either all 16 AFC teams will host the 17th game or all 16 NFC teams (switching back and forth between conferences every year). They love parity so long as it doesn’t impact TV dollars.
  9. Apparently, the Packers’ 17th game next year will be against the Kansas City Chiefs because of course.
  10. At best, public education will only nudge kids’ personal financial behaviors in the right direction. By age 18, they’ll already have inherited 75% of their money habits from their parents.
  11. [sarcasm]Geez, when are they going to stop giving Tim Boyle carries? 13 attempts for -9 yards?[/sarcasm]
  12. I knew this post was coming LOL. If Crosby stays perfect, he might get some All-Pro votes. Knock. Knock. Knock.
  13. I can confirm the snow is coming down gently in Green Bay right now. It’s very picturesque and nothing like a winter storm.
  14. This really isn’t worthy of it’s own thread, but some people may find it interesting: Will Ryan (son of Bo Ryan) is 0-7 at UWGB. Last year’s squad was 17-16, so it’s not like he inherited a program in rough shape. Even though their resources are pretty limited for a D1 program, UWGB has never been a bottom feeder. Their worst season in the last 15 years was when they went 13-20 a few years ago, but that was right after Trevor Anderson defected for Madison and Kerem Kanter (brother of Enes Kanter) did a grad transfer to Xavier. This is an odd year and I’m still hopeful Ryan will lead them to a Horizon League title and tourney appearance eventually.
  15. I’m not counting the Packers out, but I fear the snow will really help Henry and the ground game and hinder the Packers’ passing attack
  16. There was a period of 6 or 7 years where Aaron Rodgers was clearly the best player in the NFL, but he didn’t win the MVP award every year because other top tier players turned in monster individual seasons. In this case, Patrick Mahomes is clearly the best player in the NFL, but Rodgers might have the numbers to win the award.
  17. Mahomes just threw a pick!
  18. I wouldn’t be shocked if those numbers DID include 401(k)s and IRAs. Google says the average 401(k) balance is ~$92,000, but the median 401(k) balance is only ~$22,000.
  19. I just finished Your Money or Your Life, which is a popular personal finance book from the early 90s that emphasizes financial independence can be achieved at an early age through savings and simple living. The authors recommend investing solely in US Treasuries, which were paying a guaranteed 8% at the time.
  20. I want the Packers to win, but I also want to go to bed at a reasonable time. I’m halfway through a very relaxing 4-day weekend, but I’ll have to go to work tired on Monday. This happened on Thanksgiving weekend too.
  21. When the Packers inevitably regress after Aaron Rodgers retires (or is traded), at least we can all look forward to more Noon games.
  22. Credit scores are silly. One of my best friends owned a modest condo which he had diligently paid off after only 10 years. He and his wife decided to build a new home when they were expecting their second child, but he ran into trouble obtaining a construction loan because his credit score had sunk to 650 as a result of paying off his condo early. Thankfully, he was able to find a lender that was willing to do manual underwriting (for a fee) based on his income and assets. My mother is 68 and has enough money in the bank to last through her golden years, yet she struggles to get the best rates on home and auto insurance because her credit score is low on account of her home being paid off and only using credit cards ‘for emergencies’ like many in her generation were taught.
  23. I wonder how FCS football will do this Spring in terms of ratings? Most FCS conferences will be running from late February to mid-April. They won’t be up against the NFL or even major college football. Can they fill a programming void for football-starved fans?
  24. Live chat all the way! I work for a small, fairly conservative bank and we offer our customers a live chat option. Even my neighbor/mechanic, who runs a small shop with 2 employees, has a dedicated text line for questions and appointment requests. How are some companies still not doing this?
  25. I love Kwik Trip hot food when it’s on special; however, at regular price, it’s forgettable.
