  1. Was Stills claimed?
  2. I wish every Packer game started at Noon. I’m enjoying a rare, relaxing 4-day weekend and I’ll still be tired on Monday. Wonderful.
  3. Bill O’Brien went to Brown. Jason Garrett went to Princeton. It doesn’t always translate to success, but you would think it’d count for something?
  4. The Browns basically paid $15 million for a 2nd round pick when they absorbed Brock Osweiller’s contract. $2.2 million for a 6th or 7th round pick seems within the range of possibilities (then again, I’m not sure how much faith I should put in transactions that occurred between the Browns and Texans ).
  5. Which of these rosters would you rather have? Roster A: - Giannis Antetokounmpo - Khris Middleton - #2 overall pick - all of your own draft picks - some cap space - some filler Roster B: - Giannis Antetokounmpo - Khris Middleton - Jrue Holiday - Brooke Lopez - no first round picks - no cap space - some filler I know this is an oversimplification, but you can’t tell me the Bucks are that much better off than they were when Lasry and Edens took over. They inherited their best two players and these guys act like they are God’s gift to Milwaukee.
  6. That would cost about $2.2M for the final 5 games if they claimed him ($436k/game). I'd expect no one claims him, however. Does he fetch a comp pick if he re-signs elsewhere? A team with a lot of cap space might claim him for that reason.
  7. I’m on my wife’s employer-sponsored plan because it’s slightly better than the one offered by my company. Employees who score an 85 or better on their annual health risk assessment pay a lower rate than those who score below 85. That’s a pretty good incentive to avoid bad choices. After regulary scoring in the high 80s / low 90s, I came in at 85 on the dot this year. Can you imagine the grief I’d catch from my wife if my snacking made her paycheck go down? I’ll be more careful this year. This system has its limitations because if one’s health care is heavily subsidized by the government anyway, where is the incentive to improve their score?
  8. The Texans released Kenny Stills .... hmmmm
  9. If he could simply prevent turnovers and negative yardage like a Tyler Ervin was able to do last year, I would be pleased.
  10. Kevin King hurt himself in practice yesterday. I was quitely hoping he’d string together a few good games to end the season and fetch the Packers a decent comp pick.
  11. This is hilarious and so true. My 19 month old likes to watch and listen to the kids songs on Netflix... the other day there was some show on and she threw me the remote when a commercial came on and was saying, 'oh no, oh no'. I think she watches too much at grandmas during the week. Ha. Isn’t that nuts? Last year, we let him ‘stay up late’ to watch a Peanuts Christmas special that started at 7:00 pm. Around 6:45 pm, he kept asking us to ‘put Snoopy on.’ He didn’t understand why we couldn’t watch it right away.
  12. Why even flip a coin? Why not just let the home team decide? 53% is still an advantage. The Packers have lost 7 coin tosses in a row and it is costing them possessions (but so are the turnovers, obviously). 53% is basically within a margin of error. You're not going to be able to make it exactly 50/50. (I was referring to the OT coin toss on that stat, not all coin tosses) The coin toss isn't costing the Packers anything. Apologies, I didn’t pick up on the OT disctinction. Still, if there was no advantage to winning the coin toss, why have 6 consecutive teams deferred against the Packers?
  13. I agree, but the Lakers just won a title with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and a bunch of filler. They had 2 of the best 5 players in the world and they just bullied their way to a title. Even the 2018-19 Raptors had an emerging Pascal Siakam who was a 2nd Team All-NBA player this year. The formula is pretty clear. You need two All-NBA players to win a title - not just two All-Stars, but two of the best 15 players in the world. My biggest complaint about the new ownership group (besides the cronyism and nepotism) is that they really haven’t improved the roster. They inherited their two best players from Senator Kohl. So after 6 years, here they sit on the verge of losing a generational talent with no championships, no cap space, and no assets.
  14. Why even flip a coin? Why not just let the home team decide? 53% is still an advantage. The Packers have lost 7 coin tosses in a row and it is costing them possessions (but so are the turnovers, obviously).
  15. I think you're really-really underestimating how good of a player Jrue Holliday is. I think the addition of Holliday makes Middleton your 3rd best player. Apologies, it’s not my intent to sell Jrue short. I just don’t think he puts the team over the top. Looking back, here is the second best player on recent championship teams: 2020 Lakers: Anthony Davis 2019 Raptors: Lowry, Siakam, VanVleet, or Gasol? 2018 Warriors: Steph Curry 2017 Warriors: Steph Curry 2016 Cavaliers: Kyrie Irving 2015 Warriors: Thompson or Green? 2014 Spurs: Tim Duncan 2013 Heat: Dwyane Wade 2012 Heat: Dwyane Wade 2011 Mavericks: Jason Kidd Would anyone here put Holiday or Middleton ahead of anyone on this list? (with the possible exception of that Raptors quartet)
  16. Which team do you think filed the tampering complaint against the Bucks? Heat? Lakers? Warriors?
  17. I’m watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with my 4-year-old son and he has no idea what a commercial is. He keeps scolding me for turning the parade off every 10 minutes.
  18. I’ll buy the argument that the Bucks should sacrifice bench depth for improving their starting 5 because good teams lean on their starters in the playoffs when games matter more. The one thing I can’t reconcile is that Jrue Holiday was the best available upgrade. No disrespect to Jrue (I think he’s a decent player), but the current ownership group inherited their two best players from the previous regime. And the best player they’ve added in 6 years is Jrue Holiday?
  19. The Steelers / Ravens TNF Thanksgiving game is going to be moved to Sunday due to multiple positive COVID tests. That’s probably the right call, but what a bummer for casual football fans.
  20. If Burrows was playing like crap then maybe. But if a team thinks a guy is ready it seems counterproductive to me to not play him just in case he gets hurt. If that's their concern then they probably should sit every starter until they think the team is ready to contend. I agree Burrow was probably ready to play this year and that “red shirting” NFL players would not make sense in the vast majority of situations, but for the #1 overall pick? A guy who just won the NCAA championship and whom you believe to be a generational talent? I’d consider it. I couldn’t find PFF offensive line rankings for this year, but PFF released a pre-season report that ranked the Bengals 31 of 32 going into the 2020 season.
  21. I wonder if Joe Burrow’s injury will change the way team’s handle their franchise quarterbacks in their first year? Injuries can happen at any time, but did he really have the best line in place to minimize his hits? Would he have been better served by a red shirt year while the Bengals invested more draft capital or free agency money in protecting him up front? I know the Packers have been blessed in the QB department and a 3-year apprenticeship is an absolute luxury, but is one year too much to ask? Are owners and GMs that obsessed with instant gratification?
  22. How? They scored last possession of the half so Colts didn’t get a back to back. Yeah, but would this quarter be different had the Packers started with the ball? IDK, maybe.
  23. That coin toss is biting them in the butt again.
