  1. Even as a young guy just starting out, I never wanted to leave my employer match on the table.
  2. You want to talk silly? Look at the Bucks’ rafters. But to answer the original question, either 8 or 22.
  3. There was a very interesting question posed in today’s Ask Vic column. Basically, someone asked if teams would be more likely to trade 2020 draft picks for 2021 draft picks because there’s a small chance the NFL season could be cancelled. Vic pointed out that if there’s no college season this Fall, next year’s draft class would be the weakest ever since players could be granted extra eligibility or may need to stay in school to prove their worth. That would also make the Packers’ comp picks less valuable. https://www.askvic.us
  4. I’m a personal finance nut and it took me nearly a decade to establish a $10,000 emergency fund. I was saving for retirement along the way and had a much higher cash balance at times, but life just happens. In the span of 4 years, I got married, bought a home, had a kid, and paid cash for a used car. On top of that, my wife had an $800/month student loan payment for 10 years. Having graduated in the middle of the last recession, it took longer than expected for our careers to gain traction, but I think we finally felt financially secure around age 32. It’s much easier to save now that our expenses have leveled off and we continue to receive modest raises each year. Despite being a big personal responsibility advocate, I’m willing to cut everyone some slack. This is a true black swan event.
  5. I agree with the premise that ‘GMs shouldn’t pass on a Rodgers because they have a Favre,’ but this time around, the QB isn’t waffling on retirement every year. If a guy who the Packers felt had franchise QB potential falls to 30, I hope they trade back and acquire surplus value for the pick. But if they can’t trade back? I’d take him.
  6. The Browns are back to their classic uniforms. While I applaud the move, I hope the internet mocks them for altering their uniforms in the first place.

  8. I know. Perhaps that was the wrong post to reply to to complain about the Packers' propensity for drafting undersized college DEs and moving them to OLB. I don’t think there’s a wrong place to complain. It’s been a huge problem for the Packers.
  9. * who is slightly undersized and made a position switch in college
  10. Highest possible round I’d take a QB: 1) Justin Herbert 2) Jordan Love 3) Jacob Eason, Jake Fromm, Jalen Hurts (would prefer Round 4 for that last tier) * no chance Burrow or Tua fall to 30
  11. According to Wikipedia, Reid was the QB coach and AHC in 1997 and 1998. I recall being surprised by the jump from QB coach to HC at the time, but wasn’t aware of the AHC title. If Reid was too young, then why didn’t Sherman Lewis get an interview? He would have been about 55 at the time with 9 seasons as an assistant in San Francisco and another 7 as the OC in Green Bay (w/ 4 Super Bowls along the way). ‘Ray Rhodes or Bust’ just seems like an odd strategy ... both in a historical context and at the time.
  12. I’m looking for a die hard Packer fan who can help me connect the dots: Why wasn’t Andy Reid hired as the Packers’ head coach after the 1998 season? Here’s the timeline of events as I understand it: Jan 3, 1999 - 49ers defeat Packers in Wild Card playoff (even though Jerry Rice fumbled); My childhood ends Jan 8, 1999 - Mike Holmgren leaves the Packers for an 8-year, fully guaranteed contract to be the HC/GM in Seattle Jan 11, 1999 - Ray Rhodes hired as HC of the Packers; no other candidates were interviewed Jan 11, 1999 - Andy Reid hired as HC of the Eagles
  13. I read something that the people that live in the vacation towns year round are really worried the vacationers are going to bring the disease with them. Michigan has 4th highest death rate per capita. Tough situation to deal with....not sure what I would do if I was the governor. It’s one thing to ban vacationers, but property owners? I think I’d want a refund on my property taxes.
  14. I’ll admit, I don’t fully understand the Bill O’Brien hate. He’s won the AFC South in 4 of the last 5 years. The year he missed the playoffs, Deshaun Watson was a rookie and tore his ACL. He previously made the playoffs with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Hoyer as his starting QB. His best, most expensive player on defense (JJ Watt) is always on IR. He went to Brown, so he’s probably not a dummy. What am I missing?
  15. Deion Sanders apparently does not want Todd Gurley to wear #21 with the Falcons. For a guy who only played there 5 years and left voluntarily as a free agent, I don’t understand why he’d be bent out of shape about it. Ego, I assume?
  16. Michigan is not allowing its own citizens to travel to their vacation homes within the state. Much like Wisconsin, these aren’t all wealthy individuals, but rather a lot of middle class folks with a cabin ‘up north.’ I’m a big libertarian who has accepted that government may need to play a larger role in our lives for a while, but restricting people from accessing their personal property indefinitely? C’mon - just be smart, people.
  17. According to Jim ran from 2001-2009 on ABC, but it really feels like a 90s sitcom.
  18. Day 26: I caved and dressed my son in his Halloween costume this morning, per his request. Just don’t care.
  19. Oh, totally. This is what we’ve been reduced to. Although, if I made the all-decade team at work, I’d probably brag about it to someone. Unlikely though since I’m on BF.net at 2:00 pm.
  20. I saw a Yahoo article claiming Drew Brees was snubbed because of his ridiculous counting stats (and probably his general likability); however, you can objectively look at their records and see that Rodgers was better this past decade: Rodgers: 96-45-1 (0.680), 10-7 Playoffs Brees: 95-58 (0.621), 4-6 Playoffs Rodgers played in 11 fewer games, but still had 1 more win. In defense of Brees, it’s unfortunate this decade excludes his Super Bowl winning season from 2009 (but still includes Rodgers’ championship).
  21. I’m glad to see Peppers recieive the honor, but he just fits a different category for me personally. My enduring memory of him is telling Morgan Burnett to get down after an interception in the NFC championship game. I don’t really consider him a Packer, but rather a good player who played for the Packers (like Seth Joyner, Wesley Walls, or Jeff Saturday).
  22. The NFL (in conjunction with the Pro Football HOF) released its 2010’s All-Decade Team today. Rodgers is the Second-Team QB behind Brady and was the Packers’ only selection. I find it amusing that the team with the decade’s second best record only had one selection out of 54. That really speaks to how far Rodgers has carried this team the past 10 years. For the sake of comparison: Packers: 102-56-2 (0.644); 10-7 Playoffs; 1 SB Win All Decade Team: Aaron Rodgers Seahawks: 100-59-1 (0.628); 9-6 Playoffs; 1 SB Win All Decade Team*: Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Pete Carroll * Plus a future HOF QB on a rookie contract http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001108338/article/tom-brady-aaron-donald-headline-nfls-2010s-alldecade-team
  23. Not draft related, but wanted to alert all Packer fans: Fox is re-airing Super Bowl XLV in its entirety this afternoon from 2-5 pm. I’m not sure if this is nationwide or just in select markets.
  24. The Governor of New York says he’ll seize ventilators from private hospitals and companies upstate. What happens when the Coronavirus spreads to those areas? Do you think NYC will send the ventilators back?
  25. There were 5 QBs taken ahead of Hundley in 2015: #1 Jameis Winston - unemployed #2 Marcus Mariota - backup #75 Garrett Grayson - out of the league #89 Sean Mannion - backup #103 Bryce Petty - out of the league I’d argue all 5 have been bigger disappointments than Hundley.
