  1. Boy oh boy, these last few minutes have been deflating. We need a DP or something else that gives us momentum cause Kotsay just took it all away.
  2. Maybe they'll send them Hak-Ju Lee, freeing up Lowrie or Scutaro for the Brewers in 2012.
  3. We watch these kids get drafted, monitor their development, stress about their flaws, disagree with organizational differences, rank their value and obsess about trade value and management decisions. It is clear that we lose sight of the forest for focus on the trees, as here we sit, three wins from the world series, with a team made up of individuals that we have mapped for the past decade. Look at The first ever power 50 and at number 18 was a young Kid who had just been moved to outfield. Corey Hart bounced up and down the ranks, but unlike the 17 players ahead Of him (including JJ, Neugebauer and Billy Hall) he became a centerpiece on a NLCS team. This is not just what these players live for, but it is what we, as fans of a much maligned team, live for. Friday will go down as one of the greatest days in my life because it was the culmination of decades of hope. I hope formore, but will enjoy the ride. Thank you
  4. I'm sure this isn't the predictions thread, but I can see us taking a 5-4 win vs Carpenter, losing 9-0 to Lohse and then a toss up versus Jaime who may bounce back well. That said, it wouldn't shock me if we didn't come back to play in Milwaukee until the WS. I doubt we'd beat Texas (just imagine what they'd do to a grooved pitch from Zack/Wolf/Marcum), but I still believe we can get through this. We know this team so well and they know us. It'll boil down to effort, luck and shrewd moves. I think we win on effort, lose on shrewdness so just need some luck. Keep in mind, Carp has been pushed really hard the last month (including two complete games his last three times out--seriously, why leave him in for 9 innings in an 8-0 blowout vs Houston?????) and as dominant as he's been, we all remember what a pitcher ridden hard can do if he's our of gas (CC vs the Phillies). This is a guy that we've hit hard 4 of the last 6 outings. I think we have about a 50/50 chance of winning tomorrow.
  5. Arthur Rhodes is last player born in the 1930s still in the league
  6. Fangraphs has a good article analyzing whether Marcum is running on empty and concludes that "Marcum’s changeup will be the key pitch to watch tonight — if it’s flat and at too similar a speed to the fastball, we could be in for a repeat of Game Three in Arizona. If it’s back to the slower, diving pitch that gave him success early in the year, then Marcum has a chance to right the wrongs of the past month." I really hope he has it today. We really need April-August Marcum.
  7. I don't want to sound over dramatic, but today's game is really big for us. If we can't win with Ace #2 on the mound vs a very hittable Jaime, we'll be in trouble. We're sending out our struggling starter in game 2 and then face their ace in game 3. Let's pound them.
  8. This made me feel really good, from the same guy who brought us the great news about Grienke (Jim Breen's twitter feed): 'Talked to someone connect w/ #Brewers organization today. He's confident in a Brewers win: "I don't think Prince will let them lose."'
  9. I'm optimistic this guy will show up BIG in game 5: http://www.newshat.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/solve-rickie-weeks-needs.jpg
  10. We've had twice as many scoring innings...that has to count fOr something right? Man I wish we could score more than one in an inning
  11. It is still only a four run game. We have 15 more outs and are going against their pen. It isn't over....I'll give you that our approach sucks, but if things just start bouncing right we can win this
  12. I have a good feeling that Randy will settle down and give us a few more scoreless innings. I hope they leave Saunders in for two more innings...I'd love to give brauun one more shot at him
  13. Is tonight the night we see the likes of Gomez and Casey? If not tonight, probably not at all this series... I don't feel good about this one and really hope our bats break out in a big way
  14. Amazing that only Nyger, Prince and Yuni have hits off of Collmenter. Hopefully this is more of a case where we failed to learn the first time, but now have something on him. Also, we may have upgraded our LF spot tonight as compared to those two games. Let's do this and give Wolf more time to rest that hand.
  15. I'm going to be in a church for a wedding for the majority of the game, terrible planning. That said, I'll be able to pray for the crew for a few hours. I'm really worried that our bats won't show up and we will be swept, But would love to be proved wrong. We need Hart or Weeks to have a big game. I love Yuni in the 7 hole Spool nervous.
  16. I could not be happier for GoGo. The guy has been relegated to a backup and suffered a crushing injury, yet all season he has been one of the first out of the dugout to celebrate, always celebrating and playing amazing defense. Maybe he isn't the player people projected when he was a prospect, but he's found a role and a platoon of GoGo/Morgan next year is better than most other teams' centerfield situation. He has become on of my favorite Brewers based on attitude and hard work alone. If he could just learn the basics of baserunning, he'd be amazing.
  17. dee Gordon with little flare to put it into the hands of the Dodgers pen!
  18. If Grienke goes on Sunday, why not throw Marcum, Wolf and 3 IP of Grienke and Estrada on Wednesday? It probably doesn't merit its own subject, but I"m assuming there won't be any roster surprises. I think it only comes down to Wilson vs Green, but I could be wrong and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. Here is what I see: Pitchers (11): Ax Estrada Yo Greinke Hawk Loe Marcum Narvdog KRod Saito Wolf Catchers (2): Kottaras, Lucroy INF (7): Yuni, Counsell, Fielder, McGehee, Weeks, Green, Jerry Hairston OF (5): Braun, GoGo, Hart, Kotsay, Morgan
  19. Astute observation. We've seen everyone else but #13. Whither Greinke? They showed Zack at at least one point during the celebration. I'm surprised they didn't at least get a few words from him. He was also very unexcited during the Braun HR. Maybe just thinking about his start tomorrow
