Yeah, don't see us trading for anyone in the offseason. Just keeping most of our guys, probably going with some guys from the minors, and maybe signing a few lower priced free agents.
There was talk during the game tonight that they would piggyback Yo and Greinke on Wednesday to better set them up for the first two games. Roenicke also confirmed he'd go with 4 starters.
There's no way Roenicke doesn't use Wolf, so I don't think that part is even worth discussing. How the rotation aligns throughout the playoffs is worth discussing though.
Unless Roenicke pitches someone on 3 days rest, there's no way Wolf won't start. Most teams will go with 4-man rotations because of the elimination of the extra off day that's usually in each series. That won't happen, so Wolf will pitch. Tigers would have to pitch Verlander on 3 days rest twice to get him in 3 times in a 7-game series.
No, the easiest thing to do would be to leave it as it is, and go Gallardo, Greinke, Marcum, Wolf. Just don't start Gallardo on Wednesday. There you go. Done.
Well, Hanson had a set back today in his instructional league start, so he won't start the regular season finale or in the first round of the playoffs. Without him and Jurrjens, we should have no trouble beating them first round with home field. I am firmly in favor of playing them first round now. Hopefully they hold off the Cards though.
How about this: Cards lose in a relatively short game. Brewers game goes longer, maybe even extras, and we win and get to have the on-field celebration.Well, that works too. Just assumed that's pretty unlikely. Could happen though.
I am really hoping that the clinching moment of '08 is somewhat recreated tomorrow night. We pick up the win, and then cut to the big screen to watch the Cards lose to the Cubs. That would be an awesome way to clinch. Plus, I would be there again. Really want that to happen. The least fun would be if we win tomorrow, then the Cards lose on Saturday afternoon. Then there's no cool on-field celebration. I'd take it though I guess. Wanna clinch ASAP.

This deserves extra celebration. Some beast mode!!!
Berkman admitted himself that he could've gotten at least a 2-year deal if he hit free agency. He just chose to sign this one. I think he could've gotten a 2-year, $30 million deal from someone at minimum. Probably could've gotten more money than that, and possibly a third year from someone dumb enough to do it. There's always desperate teams. I'm not saying he needs the money or anything. I applaud him for just staying where he wants to be. Just saying he certainly could've gotten a lot more money.
Yeah, pretty sure Berkman could've gotten at least a 2-year deal somewhere else, maybe 3. Definitely left possibly around $25 million on the table, and possibly more.
Highly doubt the times will be announced until after the regular season ends. Also, I doubt there will be a game at 9:30 CT on October 1 unless ARI gets home field. There's no way a game in the Central or Eastern time zone will start that late.
