  1. I think that's how we all feel. We'll have to wait and see.
  2. Huge grain of salt. As I said earlier, this makes it more likely IMO. Ik that. This is why I posted it.
  3. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/126287858.html From TH: I also asked Melvin about trade rumors going around about a deal with the White Sox and he said he hasn't talked to Chicago GM Kenny Williams.
  4. But he's a SS prospect, which we have none of above A ball.
  5. Like I just said on the last page. Sounds like we'd also be getting SS prospect Eduardo Escobar, which I wouldn't mind.
  6. I'm not saying I like the deal either. Just that it doesn't mean we won't still get a SS/3B.I know, it's just the rumors about Beltran, now Rios.......I just don't get why Melvin's hell bent on getting an overpriced, over 30 outfielder, when there's other things he should be concentrating on. maybe he is, and we just aren't hearing about it......it's just that these rumors make little sense. We have 3 outfielders, all with OPS over .800, and all reasonably priced. I don't get the need to add a guy like Rios, even if he gets money. He's ridiculously overpaid, and he stinks. The guy is OPSing .550 this year. I agree. And for a guy who will only play CF against LHP, I don't think it's necessary.
  7. We'd have to get a lot of money for Rios for me to not vomit if this goes through. He sucked 2 years ago, was ok last year, and he's worse than Betencourt with the stick this year. He 100% sucks at this point, and is grossly overpaid. I'm not saying I like the deal either. Just that it doesn't mean we won't still get a SS/3B.
  8. Now the guy is saying Eduardo Escobar is involved. Switch-hitting SS prospect. http://www.baseball-refer...ayer.cgi?id=escoba001edu
  9. This deal, or something similar to it could happen on top of a deal for a SS/3B. It's not like this trade would rule out another one like some people are saying. Doug could still pick up Barmes/Carroll also.
  10. I'm assuming Rios would be the replacement for Gomez in CF vs LHP? I'd love to get Thornton. Would hope we'd get another piece as well though.

  12. Wow, way too early to say that. But never know, Rasmus could end up being a stud.
  13. Really, this trade may hurt the Cardinals the next few years, but it doesn't hurt them this year. It helps them quite a bit.
  14. With the Cardinals making this move to improve this year, and still going hard after Bell, Melvin better get moving and get us some IF's, a LH reliever, and possibly and outfielder. If he doesn't, we will fall behind.
  15. Stupid for the Cardinals to trade Rasmus. The value they got back isn't even close to worth it.
  16. Yeah, giving up Rasmus was really stupid. I'd be pissed if I was a Cardinals fan.
  17. They also traded 3 relievers in the deal and got Patterson.
  18. Everyone's now saying deal with the Giants is basically done. So time to move on.
  19. According to Buster Olney: The trade: Colby Rasmus, Trever Miller, Brian Tallet and P.J. Walters for Jackson, Marc Rzepczynski, Dotel and Corey Patterson Weird trade.
  20. Insiders are saying the Cards might also get Dotel and Rzepczynski in the trade.
  21. Counsell is done, and should retire. But he won't, and RR and DM love him. So, he's not going anywhere. That's about it.
  22. Based on the fact that he stated over and over again that he has faith in Yuni and Betancourt. The fact that the players he's going after are both capable of playing SS and 3B tell me that he only wants one guy to help spell both Yuni and McGehee. I just don't see him trading for 2 IF's when he said that RP was his biggest need after the K-Rod trade. He won't drop McGehee, Yuni, or Counsell. It just won't happen. He'll get one guy, drop Wilson, and be done with it. I don't like it, but that's what will happen.
