  1. I don't know why people are reporting who the players are when Melvin said they have to make a list for the Mets. Sounds to me like he hasn't even made a list of players yet.
  2. The second post on there makes me laugh. The guy says it's stupid to trade two prospects for a high paid reliever, because what we really need is a starter or two. Lol. What an idiot. He's just jealous.
  3. Yes please on Furcal. If that happens we are pretty much set. Except for maybe adding a power bench bat or lefty reliever.
  4. No.Yeah, if you actually look at the roster of people actually playing the NL has a HUGE advantage in pitching. No doubt about it. Saying the AL pitching is superior in this game is way off base.
  5. That's basically what is happening. It's Gallardo Narveson Greinke Marcum Wolf. Same order as having Greinke Marcum Wolf Gallardo Narveson, so I don't see why it matters how they come out of the break. Just give them all 3 extra days rest and be done with it. I think they're doing it right.
  6. I don't doubt it. If someone took on his whole salary, it wouldn't take much at all to get him. They have Dee Gordon ready to take over anyway.
  7. Agreed, that was amazing! But Prince can do it here. 15 to tie. Let's go big fella!
  8. Heck yes I would deal for Ramirez. I just highly doubt he will waive his no-trade though to any team. Would be a perfect piece for our lineup in the 5 spot protecting Fielder.
  9. I agree with everyone that SS is a bigger need than a pen arm, but if a good arm can be had for a small price Melvin should jump on it. Can never have too many solid arms in the pen. At this point, I'd take any upgrade over Yuni. Especially defensively it would make a huge difference. I really think that things would come together more with a solid SS in the lineup. I agree that Reyes, Hardy, and Furcal are the big names, and Furcal is probably the only possibility out of them. However, I think that a solid player like Keppinger or Carroll would make a difference. Even if they would prevent Yuni from playing everyday it would help a lot.
  10. It's been reported by guys like Rosenthal and Olney, among others, that Melvin is targeting infield depth(most likely SS) and relief pitching. I think he'll address both before the deadline. Stetter might be able to help as an extra lefty, as he's close to returning, but we'll see. Roenicke has already shown some improvement lately with bullpen management, and I also think that Hawkins and Saito will be used more in the second half. I think Hawkins has been held back for the second half, which probably isn't a bad idea. If Doug can get another reliever to go along with what we have, I think the bullpen will be very strong in the second half. Also, if he does get a starting SS that the lineup will look a lot better. McGehee will still be in there, but if it's just him and not him and Yuni in there it won't look as bad. Just adding that one piece will strengthen the lineup a lot in my opinion.
  11. Yep, said closed in the morning at least before I left. I was glad it was open, or I might've passed out. It was bad enough with it open.
  12. Doubt they get Adams, so I'd rather pickup a lefty if attainable. Either that or someone better than Estrada who can cover either middle or long relief.
  13. Braun said he was available to pinch-hit today. I would guess that he was the last option though due to precaution. I'd guess he's just about ready to go, so he should be fine for Thursday.
  14. Nope, he said he flew into Milwaukee early this morning. Probably is flying out tonight.
  15. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/125304503.html Well, it's official. Scarpetta is back down already. I hope McClendon gets the call.
  16. Yep, McClendon will be up by Thursday.
  17. I'd swap Estrada for McClendon or preferably another lefty. But otherwise I agree. Don't like Estrada as a reliever. He should be starting in AAA.
  18. For anyone going to the game today, it'll be a prime example of what we've been talking about in this thread. About 85 and humid, and the roof shut for no reason for the majority of the game due to chance of rain. Its gonna be a sauna in there.
  19. Go to the game article on the JSOnline. The audio wrapup will be on the left. I've found that clicking on the archives and then downloading as an mp3 works well, since I can skip to the good parts. EDIT: http://media.jsonline.com...io/7-08-11+Game+Wrap.mp3 Good stuff. Thanks!
  20. Good thing Roenicke left Ax in for another inning. Oh wait...
