  1. All of these would be poor choices based on what was said before about Narveson being given a chance this year because of good September performance. These aren't guys I wanna see in the rotation next year. One of the young guys should get the opportunity like Rivas as you said.
  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5484947 Thought this was interesting, given that the Pirates are a struggling team as the Brewers had been for many years.
  3. I agree with this. That's why I'd like to see a younger prospect like Rogers or Rivas get the nod over someone like Butler.
  4. Well, I guess Piniella is a candidate to manage the Brewers now, lol. We all know he's "retiring" just to get out of the terrible situation he's in with the Cubs. He'll probably be back managing someone in 2012.
  5. I wouldn't mind this. I'd have to go check out that ballpark at some point. Looks very nice.
  6. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5482450 Just thought I'd post this, because I think Nationals management is completely idiotic for even having Strasburg out there after his last injury. And now he gets hurt again. They need to shut him down, and rest his arm. It's really stupid to leave the future of your franchise out there just to try to get ticket sales, and possibly risk hurting him seriously and jeopardizing the future of the franchise. If he returns again after this injury someone should be fired.
  7. .260 isn't bad for a power hitter who would give us 30+ HR and 100+ RBI. Gomez obviously isn't in that category.
  8. http://brewersbeat.mlblog...z_wants_cf_job_back.html This whole article just makes me laugh. Here's the best quote from Gomez... "The season is not done yet. I only have [246] at-bats, and when you get a couple games of two, three base hits, then you're hitting .260. I'm not going to say I've had a bad year because you can go two, three games 2-for-4, 3-for-4, and then you're hitting .260 and that's not a bad year." He also isn't very good at math apparently. He'd have to go 11 for his next 11 just to get to .260. 2-4 and 3-4 in a few games isn't gonna do it.
  9. Exactly, we need to see what he can do. That's all I'm saying about Cappy. We need to give him innings to see if he's an option for next year.
  10. Weeks 2B Escobar SS Braun LF Fielder 1B McGehee 3B Cain CF Dickerson RF Lucroy C Narveson P Hart out, Dickerson in RF, Escobar batting 2nd. Surprised Macha didn't go with Cain in the 2 hole.
  11. A pretty tell tale sign to me will be whether or not Gomez gets playing time the rest of the season. If he rides the bench behind Cain and Dickerson, then I think we know that he won't factor on the major league roster next season.
  12. Replace him in the rotation with Capuano. A move that should've been made for different reasons a long time ago.
  13. Nevermind, according to Schelling's twitter he'll be here tomorrow. http://twitter.com/jordanschelling
  14. I'm hoping that no announcement means that Gomez is staying in AAA. Cain is in the starting lineup like I expected. So it's either that or McClendon is going back down.
  15. Brewers vs. Padres - Weeks 4 Hart 9 Braun 7 Fielder 3 McGehee 5 Cain 8 Escobar 6 Lucroy 2 Gallardo 1 They posted a lineup two minutes earlier that had Parra as the pitcher. Scared the hell out of me, because I'm going to the game tonight. Thought Gallardo got scratched or something.
  16. The Sounds are playing a doubleheader today, and Gomez wasn't in the starting lineup for the night cap, but entered the game later on in a double switch. Makes me wonder if this means that he found out that he's staying down in AAA. You'd think he'd be heading back to Milwaukee by now if he was coming.
  17. There's no way the Brewers will be going after any of those 3 first baseman. Either Gamel or Hart will be taking over 1b when we trade Fielder.Small sample alert, but the .722 OPS Hart has been hitting since the All Star game (.670 in August) is oddly reminiscent of 2008. If we simply go status quo on offense and assume that we can replace Fielder with Gamel and all will be well, I think we'll be disappointed in our offense next year. Our pitching will arguably be better if we get someone for Prince in a trade, but a slightly better rotation mixed with a worse offense and equal defense will not add up to even a decent year next year. Not saying I'm against a free agent signing for 1b, just saying that it won't happen.

  19. I guess if we use the option and decide to send him to AAA again next year, the plan won't be to bring him back after next year anyway, so what good would having an extra option be anyway?
  20. If he's healthy he can petition to be activated. Still wouldn't waste his option, option down McClendon instead if it comes to it. Thanks for the clarification on that.
  21. http://milwaukee.brewers....p;fext=.jsp&c_id=mil I was just wondering this. Can't the Brewers just leave Gomez on the DL until September. I thought 20-day rehab assignments were allowed. I don't know why they have to use one of his options to keep him in AAA until September.
  22. I'd be in for a few also. I was just gonna post this myself.
  23. Brewers at Cardinals - Weeks 4 Hart 9 Braun 7 Fielder 3 McGehee 5 Cain 8 Escobar 6 Lucroy 2 Bush 1
