  1. I like this staff. Don't have any problems with it. I especially like Sedar moving to third base.
  2. If they just traded Maybin, why would they want a crappier version of him on their team?
  3. I think what he means is that Braun's contract would be more attractive to other teams than Fielder's. Not that the Brewers would want to dump that kind of a contract.
  4. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/107316858.html Not anymore, he was asked back to the Brewers staff!
  5. There's no way the Brewers would take this big of a PR hit. Trading Prince is something they can pretty easily get away with. But if they traded Braun, lots of fans would be furious guaranteed. I don't see Melvin even entertaining the idea of trading Braun.
  6. I've always liked DeJesus. I think he's a good player. I know he's been mentioned here as a possibility for the Brewers a few times.
  7. I've read this once, maybe twice, around the BF.net forum. But I don't recall hearing it anywhere or reading it in the JSOnline or any other print media (tangible or online). Where did any possible confirmation of this notion come from?I don't understand how or why Gary would be pitching coach if he was never a pitcher or catcher, and has never been a coach. It makes no sense at all whatsoever.
  8. I agree, and I would Roenicke makes that happen. It sounds like he's that kind of guy, but I guess he can't really individually teach each pitcher to be a good bunter. He can call the bunt, but they need to be able to get the bunt down.
  9. What's wrong with Escobar at SS? And his brother Gary was an outfielder, why would he be in as pitching coach?
  10. I really don't expect Roenicke to go overboard with base stealing and stuff, but seriously we have so many guys on this team that could be stealing an incredible amount of bases. That didn't happen because Macha was our manager. With Roenicke in control, we'll see Weeks taking off a lot more, Hart taking off more, and so on. Guys like Escobar, Cain, and Gomez will go to town if they can get on base enough. Aggressive base running could make a real difference for this team when it comes to scoring runs. Especially if we do end up trading Fielder, I think we need to steer away from being known for home run hitting. Not that we can't still hit home runs, but we do need to produce runs in other ways and aggressive base running is a way to do that.
  11. I loved what Roenicke had to say. I'm glad that we'll be aggressive on the basepaths. We have the kind of team that can benefit from that, and we never saw anything close to that with Macha. I think he held us back a lot when it came to agression obviously. I also like that he'll bring in his own pitching coach who he thinks can get the job done, as well as other coaches. I really wasn't a huge fan of Peterson, so I won't be sad to see him go. I also love that Roenicke said he will make an effort to get to know all of his players and keep up on their lives. That's something that Macha definitely didn't do. He failed to get to know Prince and Braun as well, which were two of the guys that were most important to the team. Roenicke won't let a disconnect with his players happen, and I like that a lot. I am starting to get very optimistic about this hire.
  12. I'll go with 10. That seems like a manager's number to me. Plus Loe is 50, Jeffress is 41, Escobar is 21, Cappy is 39, Gotta leave 17 for Ganter, and 40 was Macha's number so bad karma.
  13. I've gotta say after reading up on Roenicke, and seeing that story McCalvy has on him, I am starting to like this hire. Seems like he could be a really good leader for this clubhouse. I think that is something we desperately need right now.
  14. I'm extremely disappointed by this. Really wanted Bobby V, but would've liked Cora as well. Kind of a let down.
  15. I still think it's Bobby V all the way, and they are just stalling until after the World Series ends.
  16. Comments likethis by fans have always driven me absolutely crazy. Why do the fans care how much a player or a manager or coach might get paid?? Or make comments like "he's not worth that much". IT'S NOT YOUR MONEY!! So who cares?? I have always been one to believe you do whatever it takes financially to help your team succeed. If it means paying a manager 3-4 million a year, so be it. It's Mark A's money, not mine. Agreed, I don't care at all. I just want Bobby V, because I think he gives us the best chance to win.
  17. I'll be a lot more than disappointed. I'll be furious. I wouldn't mind Cora or Roenicke though. That would maybe be slightly disappointing if Bobby V actually is an option, but I don't know how realistic that is, so I couldn't be mad.
  18. I would love Valentine. I'm starting to like this list a lot. Melvin would be a let down at this point though. The other 3 finalists sound a lot better to me. I'm just afraid that this will get me too excited, and I will be disappointed when Melvin is inevitably hired.
  19. I have a bad feeling that this mystery candidate is who we will hire, and that everyone will hate it.
  20. http://brewersbeat.mlblog...h_mum_on_crews_mana.html Roenicke won't comment. He's definitely among the 4.
  21. Or it could be that all of the last 4 finalists are fine with him being hitting coach.
  22. I don't think Bumgarner is a possibility, mainly because the Giants can't afford Fielder. Here's an article on the restraints the Giants will have, because they won't raise payroll despite making the World Series. http://www.realgmbaseball...ak_up_team_in_offseason/ That puts the Giants out of the race for Fielder in my opinion.
  23. Also, I'm guessing Melvin talked to the finalists before he made this decision, and they were all fine with keeping Sveum as hitting coach.
  24. Seeing as Randolph was told he wasn't being interviewed and Money signed on to stay at AAA, I highly doubt this will happen.
