  1. I don't see Rickie picking Boras, but we'll see I guess. I think Rickie will sign an extension similar to Hart's, except maybe a few extra years.
  2. I think Melvin will get at least one guy who can be in the rotation in the Fielder trade. But otherwise I wouldn't mind giving one of the young guys a shot in the rotation. The others would be there in AAA in case of injury. Or we could stash one in the bullpen if need be.
  3. I'm very excited about this. It's good to see that our players want to be here. Braun, Gallardo, and now Hart. Weeks will probably be next. I'm also thinking that Gamel goes to 1b, and Lawrie moves to 3b. McGehee will likely be traded in the off-season or at the deadline next year now. It'll be nice to have all of out position players under control for at least 3 years then too.
  4. I could see Gamel hitting 2nd next year. Hart would likely move back down in the order with Prince gone. Weeks Gamel Braun Hart McGehee Lucroy Cain Escobar Unless they deem that Cain or Escobar can leadoff, which I don't see happening right away.
  5. Only thing I'd change is keep Hart, put Lawrie at 3b, and trade McGehee.
  6. No, I like that combination. I'd leave McGehee out as well.
  7. I want nothing to do with Kazmir. I don't get why people always seem to want more Manny Parra's on this team. One is enough imo.
  8. The things I would do are A) Call-up Cain and start him in CF everyday, and send Gomez to AAA B) Fire Macha, and replace him with Randolph C) Put Capuano in the rotation in place of Narveson D) Trade Hoffman and Edmonds.
  9. What about Gamel in RF and Hart at 1b. Hart's not exactly great in RF. I think that would yield similar results. But I think that Gamel will be put at 1b as you said. Lawrie will be McGehee's replacement at 3b.
  10. Here's a blurb from McCalvy on the situation. This proves the theory of Lawrie being a solution at 3b. Gamel to play some first base, outfield HOUSTON -- Top Brewers prospect Mat Gamel made his first career start in right field on Saturday for Triple-A Nashville, and it's not the only new position being added to his repertoire. Gamel will continue to primarily play third base, but starts in right field and at first base will be "sprinkled" into his schedule, assistant general manager Gord Ash said. It's an effort to speed Gamel's ascension to the Majors and cover the Brewers in case they trade right fielder Corey Hart or first baseman Prince Fielder. "You don't want to limit your options," Ash said. "I went there three weeks ago or so, and we talked about the fact that in order for him to come to the big leagues and get at-bats, he's going to have to play a few different places. So we've gone from the practice to games." Gamel has been practicing in the outfield and at first base for weeks. The Brewers are in the beginning stages of a similar project with 2008 first-round Draft pick Brett Lawrie, a primary second baseman. Lawrie has been taking grounders at third base and also working in the outfield, but probably will not play those alternate positions until after this season. Lawrie could be a candidate for the Arizona Fall League. Gamel, meanwhile, will need surgery early in the offseason to repair a left big toe injury that's similar to the one suffered by then-Brewers outfielder Laynce Nix in 2006. So far, Gamel has been able to play with the pain.
  11. I think Lawrie might eventually move over to 3b to replace McGehee. Gamel will either play in RF with Hart going to 1b, or he'll just play 1b.
  12. Gamel played in RF tonight for Nashville. Just thought that was interesting. Hart may be on the move this off-season.
  13. It's going to annoy me more and more each day to watch Gomez and Edmonds man CF while Cain sits in AAA. Then when he finally comes up in September, it will piss me off more as he sits on the bench while Gomez and Edmonds continue to man CF.
  14. Do you think the Brewers next GM would like Sanchez? Haha, Melvin isn't going anywhere as long as Attanasio is our owner. He loves him.
  15. I have a feeling that Hart for Sanchez happens in the off-season.
  16. TH says Brewers are listening to offers for Edmonds. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/99657689.html
  17. I think the teams that will be in on Prince this off-season are mostly teams with a chance of re-signing him. Other teams could take a chance and also be able to use a fall-back and trade him at the deadline if it doesn't end up helping them. Also, at the very least they would get the draft compensation back. I think there are teams out there that would be willing to take the chance of Fielder helping them make a World Series push, and just take the draft compensation after that if they can't re-sign him. Prince could make a big difference to the middle of any contending team's lineup. I know that a bidding war is wishful thinking, but a few good offers isn't wishful thinking. We apparently don't have any great offers at this point, so I don't see why waiting hurts much. At the worst we could get something similar to what may have been offered at the deadline. I wouldn't have minded to see Prince dealt now, but I think there will be suitors in the off-season that Melvin can get something from. That's why I'm not that upset. The whole Hart situation upsets me a lot more.
  18. Did I miss the trade deadline being pushed up to the 30th? Why all this angst over not making any trades yet? Maybe because Melvin and multiple other sources said that we aren't going to make any trades? And because history also tells us that we won't.
  19. Truthfully, I can't say that I'm upset about Prince not going before the deadline. I think that a lot more teams will be in on him this winter. The Red Sox, Rangers, Giants, Dodgers, Braves, Rockies, and possibly the Yankees are some teams I could see making a play for him. I would expect that we would have a good chance of getting a solid starting pitcher for Fielder from some of these teams, because they could just go back out into free agency for a replacement, which isn't possible during a pennant race. A lot of teams out there have very good young pitching, and the best we can hope for is that a bidding war gets started. However, what I am really upset about is the fact that Hart wasn't traded at his peak value, and that some of out pitching like Bush wasn't also traded for something. Melvin is kidding himself if he thinks we're still in this race.
  20. Maybe the Sox will get Dunn and Myers. That would definitely make them significantly better.
  21. Supposedly the White Sox wanted Jackson so they could flip him for Dunn. If this trade would put an end to a Jackson trade, maybe it is a deal for Prince. Its fun speculating on speculation. You're right, if the Jackson trade is then off, it likely wouldn't be Dunn. That doesn't mean it's Prince either. I'm not gonna get my hopes up, unless the lineup is posted and he's not in it.
  22. Guarantee that the Jackson will be flipped for Dunn, or it will be a three-team deal. That's all it is.
  23. They just said on BBTN that Gordan Beckham was told by the White Sox that he won't be traded at the deadline. So much for that dream...
