  1. They could start Olt in AAA next year, and trade either Ramirez or Hart either this offseason or by the deadline next year. If not, Olt spends the year in AAA and then steps in in 2014. So it's not completely necessary to trade Ramirez, but I'd like to see it happen still if Olt was acquired.
  2. Yeah, it makes no sense for the Yankees to trade for a 3B who is signed beyond this year. They could just move A-Rod to DH next year or something, but it doesn't seem like they're ready to do that at this point.
  3. If Olt is out there, and there are good offers for Ramirez, I think Melvin should take Olt and trade Ramirez. That makes the most sense to me. I doubt that whole scenario plays out though, but Olt is still possible.
  4. Yeah it's probably one or the other between Green and Gamel. One of them will have to backup 1B, 3B, and play some RF, and the other is probably gone. I guess we could keep stashing Green in AAA, but not sure if that will happen or not. Either way, I don't see both on the same roster.
  5. Roenicke said that Melvin is trying to trade Kottaras to keep him in the major leagues. Sounds like it'll happen soon. Probably won't get much, but something is better than nothing. He also hinted that Maldonado would catch 2 out of every 5 games for now, and be paired with Wolf.
  6. you cant get compensation for players traded mid-season, only players who start the year on your roster. so offering him arbitration means you just signed him for $12.5 million Yeah, you're right. I wasn't thinking. Makes it even more of a bad idea then. Picking up his $13 million option isn't a good option either.
  7. I really hope Roenicke moves Lucroy or Weeks to the 2 hole soon. I'm really sick of Gomez/Morgan there. Now that Lucroy's back, that needs to happen. Lucroy shouldn't be hitting 7th. Obviously he needs a couple games to phase in, but after that something should change.
  8. There is no point in trading for Santana, which is why it won't happen. We'd have to offer him the one-year deal to be eligible to receive compensation, and that's too risky with how much it would cost. Plus, he actually has an option for next year that requires a $1 million buyout.
  9. It kind of has to happen in TNA with Hogan and Bischoff both being there, but never know I guess. In WWE it would be a Hogan-less NWO, which wouldn't make much sense.
  10. With the Rangers and Angels being AL West rivals, it'll end up being a bidding war between them to see who can get Greinke. That is exactly what Melvin wants to happen, and it looks like that may be the case.
  11. I like this move. If Bianchi wasn't gonna play anyway, might as well get him regular playing time. I'd rather have him playing over Ransom and Izturis obviously, but we all knew that wouldn't happen. Hopefully we get a SS prospect in the Greinke trade, so we won't really need Bianchi anyway. The important part was making the smart move in keeping Maldonado over Kottaras though. Maldonado will get plenty of opportunities here, and is a better option than Kottaras as backup. He'll probably start 3 out of every 10 as Lucroy's backup or something like that.
  12. They may feel Profar is ready and just call him up. If they made the deal, they probably feel what they are getting will help them a lot and is worth any drop-off from Andrus to Profar. It's been rumored for awhile that they would look to deal Andrus once Profar was ready. They really want a World Series title this year before Hamilton hits free agency.
  13. If we get Andrus and a quality SP prospect like possibly Grimm, I would be ecstatic. Not gonna get my hopes up though.
  14. Yep, exactly. They also should trade Morgan and give Schafer playing time in CF. It makes sense to see what guys can do in a lost season. Would be great to see Green play as well.
  15. It still would be funny. Wolf would take his personal catcher with him to a new team after most argued that it made no sense for him to have one here. Maybe Kottaras is destined to catch Wolf until Wolf's career is over.
  16. I have to say I'm a little alarmed by his .55 GO/AO ratio and the fact that he averages 4 BB per 9 innings. Can't have too high of expectations, but it's still nice to see a change made. He definitely does deserve the shot at least. Can't be worse than anyone we currently have.
  17. It would be pretty funny if Melvin packaged Wolf and Kottaras somewhere to clear the spots for Lucroy and Henderson.
  18. I'm glad Melvin's asking price for Greinke is incredibly high right now. He's doing it the right way. Aim high, and then work your way down if need be. Teams will get desperate eventually.
  19. This is great news. He deserves the shot. I hope it means someone got traded.
  20. Thinking about that... I can maybe envision Melvin trying for a Sexson-style trade and trying to grab four or five of those guys rather than just Olt or Perez. Not sure how I'd feel about that, but I suppose you're increasing the likelihood that someone you get pans out. That's an interesting thought. I doubt that Melvin would just pass on Olt or Perez if they could be had, but if they are out of the conversation he could just go for a big quantity. Those are all good prospects. It definitely can't hurt to replenish the farm a little bit. I think Doug really wants a major league ready pitcher like Martin Perez though in any deal he makes for Greinke.
  21. I agree with this. Braun, Gallardo, and Lucroy should be the only untouchables at this point. Everyone else can be had for the right offer. I do have guys I'd hate to see go, but it's a business. If good offers are out there, Doug has to take them.
  22. Pretty sure Hanley is just moving to SS because Gordon is out for quite awhile and they'd rather have guys like Hairston in the lineup at 3B than playing Luis Cruz at SS with Hanley at 3B. Gordon can't be traded while on the DL anyway.
  23. They aren't the same. The one in the major league forum is supposed to be discussing whether to sign or trade Greinke. This one is for rumors and trade discussion. The one in the major league forum really isn't even needed anymore, since Greinke isn't re-signing.
