  1. Others probably know better than me, but I don't think autographed cards are really worth much at all if you got them signed yourself. If the card is a designated "autograph card" that the card issuer got signed then that is a different story. But a lot of times, card collectors like to keep cards in their "original form," and since some cards come autographed already, a regular card that you got signed probably won't sell for that much over the original value of the card itself (and I'm guessing in some cases the signature may actually decrease the value of the card especially if there is no COA).
  2. On a separate note, has anyone heard if the Bucks will have a draft party on June 26th? A few weeks away yet and I assume they will (given that they even had a draft lottery party this year), but has anyone heard anything?
  3. While I said a while back that Embiid's back issues scare me, the more I feel strongly that the Bucks really need to take either him or Wiggins. IMO the Bucks desperately need a player who may be a superstar, and those two have the best shot. If they stay at #2 and take Parker or Exum I will be disappointed - especially if it's Wiggins available at #2 and the Sixers are as desperate to have him as what the reports say. I would prefer to stay at #2 and just take Embiid or Wiggins, but if they are going to take someone else I really hope they try to trade down with someone like Philly or Orlando.
  4. I think the Harvey List is a little on the pricey side to be worthwhile for me, but would you recommend sportscollectors.net in general? I haven't done much autograph seeking lately (mostly due to the time commitment required) so I was considering subscriptions to sportscollectors.net as well as sportsgraphing.com. Essentially I'd like to seek autographs "smarter" (i.e. more time efficiently and moreso from the comfort of my own home, whether that be TTM or gaining knowledge for a better in person success rate) and not just spend countless hours going after autographs like I have in the past. I have never bought a subscription to an autograph website and wanted to get some others' opinions. I know sportscollectors.net is mostly TTM and sportsgraphing.com is moreso for in-person, but does anyone have any experience with any of these?
  5. So at #2 you have a chance to get a player that can really be something special since this year's draft is so strong, and you want to move down to get something that would've been closer to a #2 pick in last year's more "normal" draft? I don't really see why you'd give up a #2 pick in a really strong draft for what equates to a #2 pick in last year's draft + a lower first-round pick. To turn the franchise around we desperately need someone who has consistent all-star if not superstar potential. I think it would be foolish to move down at all but especially so if moving down more than 1-2 spots.
  6. This is crazy. Pretty soon people will start viewing 1B for the Brewers in a similar light as the Sports Illustrated jinx.
  7. The relative standings are pretty much meaningless at this point because there is so much baseball yet to be played. Right now a single winning or losing streak could probably move a majority of teams from "in the playoffs" vs "out of the playoffs." My general rule is that the standings don't really mean a whole lot until late June (about halfway through the season). We know the Cards will pick things up, the Brewers have already started falling off a bit, etc. I try to avoid even thinking about the standings until my personal "cutoff" date of late June so that I don't get too high or too low on the Brewers. In the past few years we've seen teams make up 8-10 games over the last month or two of the season, so a few games ahead/behind right now doesn't really mean a whole lot to me.
  8. I personally want no part of Embiid due to the injuries. He already has back issues and while I'm not a doctor, it seems to me that back injuries can be especially difficult to predict and to treat. I just don't see him being healthy enough to be worth a pick as high as what we have.
  9. I think the Brewers may have had six straight day games to start the 2008 season. 3 at the Cubs, followed by three home day games against the Giants. Through the years I have also noticed that the Brewers throw in occasional day games even when they're not opening day or getaway day. In 2006 I think they had a day game on Monday, July 3rd (not a holiday but a number of businesses closed). In 2005 I think they also had a day game on the Thursday after the all star break (to kick off a four-game series with Washington). There may be more recent examples but those are a couple that stick in my mind.
  10. There's a new kind of "one of those guys" around. At the Trats game this guy walks around with dirty old baseballs and offers them to kids for their bobbleheads. Laughable I saw a guy in a Favre Vikings jersey doing this at the Brewer game this past weekend... I found it really weird.
  11. By now it's pretty obvious that his option won't vest. Just throwing this out there, but maybe Rickie knows he's basically done for and doesn't want to expend all the extra effort that a mid-season position switch would require. Between injuries and ups and downs in performance, his professional baseball career has been a physical and mental grind I'm sure. If he's been smart with his money then he would be financially secure for life at this point. So maybe he just wants to do what he needs to to finish out the season and then call it quits.
  12. IMO the Hiawatha isn't worth it for a Cubs game. You're better off driving to Skokie and taking the CTA, or driving straight to Wrigley (for some games they have a shuttle running to/from DeVry University where you can park for $6).
  13. That does sound terrible. I've found that one movie a day for a few days straight is pretty good when it comes to watching Star Wars. I don't know that I've ever actually done 6 movies in 6 days... usually it ends up taking longer because life gets in the way. Once in college I watched Episodes I-III over the course of 24 hours and that was alright as well because I never watched two immediately back-to-back. With yesterday being Star Wars day, I got really excited about the prospect of having a Star Wars semi-marathon (all movies over a couple days) right before Episode 7 comes out.
  14. From my experience, getting out of a parking structure is a lot more hassle than getting out of a surface lot. Mainly because there is basically only one way out of a structure, whereas with the Miller Park lots there are multiple ways to get out. Maybe this is what you mean when you say there is "no rhyme or reason", but I'd rather be able to choose a less-crowded route out of Miller Park than be stuck in a single line of cars waiting to go through a single exit from a parking structure. Maybe things haven't been as bad near the BC in recent years since the Bucks' attendance has been so low. But for large events I avoid parking in a structure at almost all costs. I'd rather park on the street and walk half a mile or a mile (for what it's worth I usually do this for Brewer games too, but even when I do park in the lots I usually don't have major issues getting out).
  15. So the Brewers are selling those bobble for ~$85 each?
  16. There is no doubt in my mind that Kohl will foot a good chunk of the bill to build a new arena. There is no way all that money is coming from the public, and if he made the new owners commit to keeping the team in Milwaukee, then a logical source for the money would be the funds he gained from selling the team.
  17. No doubt we should own the Big Ten. All early predictions have us in the preseason top 5 right now, and I just looked at one that shows us as the preseason #1. Kaminsky also has a shot at player of the year. It should be a really fun year.
  18. That is someone I went to high school with. Not someone who I have kept in touch with or would consider a friend but someone from high school. I think he's moreso a dancer than a singer, at least he was back in school. Not a big name, but I think he might do local stuff similar to this once in a while.
  19. Thanks for the tip, might have to check it out. I got a picture with Dayne last year that I may try to have him sign.
  20. I believe there are actually 106 Uecker seats. And one other minor note, the Uecker seats go on sale whenever the gates open, which isn't always 90 minutes before the game. I agree with everything else the others have said - one ticket per person and they cost $1 each. Also the point about skipping, if you are 100 deep in line when you get there then don't plan on getting a ticket.
  21. Anyone who makes a decision to play baseball over other sports because of "these huge mega deals" is making a very foolish decision IMO. For every mega deal there are tens if not hundreds of minor leaguers who will never makes the majors and who are scraping by making next to nothing (not just compared to other professional athletes either, even compared to much of the working population). And even for the cream of the crop elite athletes, if they are young then there is a lot that can happen before they are able to actually make the majors (and even then they will wait at least 6 years to get a mega deal). I'm not saying that other sports are better to play as a professional... honestly I wouldn't want to be a professional athlete in any sport, and I think too many people have misguided views about how good the life of a professional athlete is.
  22. I went to my first NCAA tournament game yesterday to see the Badgers crush American. It was undoubtedly the most intense game I've ever seen in person for a 40-point blowout. Early in the game, most of the arena was pretty quiet while the small section of American fans made most of the noise (especially after American stormed back from an 8-2 deficit to go up 17-10). After that, obviously the Badgers came back and went on something like a 50-9 run thanks to starting to hit some shots and American cooling off significantly. It is really amazing how often the little guys in the tournament hang around early on due to good shooting and/or the extra adrenaline of playing on that stage for the first time, only to eventually have it wear off and lose by a big margin. I wish I could have stayed for more games but unfortunately I had to get back to work... but following the games for the rest of the day was pretty good too. I was just so excited about having seen the Badger game and knowing I'd get to see them again on Saturday that I couldn't go to bed, so like others, I stayed up too late watching. Those OT games really delayed things quite a bit. It's weird to think that the Louisville game didn't end until around 1:00am local time in Orlando. I stayed up to see New Mexico State send their game into OT but went to bed at that point (~12:15 CDT or so). I was also trying to stay up until the game times for Saturday were announced. They weren't set yet when I went to bed, but they were set when I checked this morning around 6:30 so they must have set them real late last night or real early this morning. All in all a fun day. Looking forward to this weekend when work won't get in the way of watching games.
  23. I found this info helpful: http://www.jrn.com/wtmj/shows/wisconsins-morning-news/Where-to-Park-for-Milwaukee-NCAA-Games-250970491.html www.parkmilwaukee.com/ Parking anywhere near the Bradley Center will probably be kind of a mess and will also be pretty expensive tomorrow (they said anywhere from $15-$75 in the radio broadcast linked above). There may be a decent number of people coming from elsewhere in the state and/or out of town, moreso than for most events (think moreso like big concerts than typical Bucks/Marquette games). So you could have more people who don't have a super firm grasp on where they're headed or where they'll park. You also have people going to work to compete with for parking. I don't mind walking, so I don't plan to try to drive anywhere within about half a mile of the Bradley Center when I go to the game.
  24. just out of curiosity where did you get it signed?
  25. How crazy would it be if the 2nd-seeded Badgers took on the 15th-seeded Panthers in Milwaukee?
