  1. I wouldn't go that far. That would put the Big Ten at 13, I'm assuming that they'll try to get an even number as long as their expanding. Also, if Notre Dame wants in, the Big Ten will take them in a heart beat.
  2. I'll be watching the game, not sure where though. I'd love to find somewhere with a bunch of people watching it, unfortunately right now I'm not sure of anywhere having something "big" for it. I'll be sure to post if I find anywhere.
  3. US wins their final friendly 3-1 over Australia. Score probably could have been about 6-4 or so. Findlay missed numerous opportunities and I think it was Dempsey had one called back because of a "offsides" (the guy who was offside didn't play the ball or interfere with an Australian, so it probably should have been called, oh well). Edson Buddle scored 2 and Herculez Gomez does what he does in scoring as a late substitute.
  4. I'm not overly worried about Jozy. If it was serious they wouldn't even be thinking about playing him Saturday (I don't think they should anyway). But for the Ivory Coast, if that's true, that's a killer.
  5. The Arch still makes me feel like a little kid (I'm almost 26), there's something amazing about being up that high in such a "weird" structure. Ted Drews Frozen Custard. I realize we're kind of spoiled in Wisconsin in general and the Milwaukee area specifically, but it's still a good place to grab a concrete, and there they basically are concrete. The Budweiser (Anheuser Busch/InBev/Whatever) brewery is impressive if only for the size. I dislike just about all of their beers, but it was still a cool tour. Grant's Farm is worth the time, look it up, it's free except for parking (I believe). Other than that I was always there with family on trips growing up, so I've never had the chance to take in the town as an adult.
  6. Watched the game last night, I don't think they played terribly, but the back line looked like a mess at times. On their first goal Gooch didn't appear to really jump on the corner, but on the replay it looked like the guy did have an arm on his shoulder, so maybe he has an excuse for not getting up to high... I'm forgetting the second goal, but on the third one of the defenders over committed and it ended up leading to an unmarked man in the box. The last was Edu not being used to center back, but I don't expect him to play there unless they are in a big pinch. I'm excited to watch the game Saturday against Turkey. We'll finally be able to see what Bradley is thinking the starting 11 will look like. I'm thinking Gomez will likely be a late sub if we're in need of offense. Either for Altidore, or if they pull out Gooch and slide Edu back like they did last night, and then slide Dempsey or Donovan back to the midfield.
  7. I think there's some confusion between Freddy Adu and Maurice Edu. Also I agree Dempsey should be in the midfield.
  8. All Bradley has ever used with the USMNT is a 4-4-2. So it's safe to say Altidore won't be alone up top. The World Cup isn't the time to try new things.
  9. He's playing in Greece right now. As for success, basically no. Turning pro so young hurt him in the long run as he wasn't able to learn how to play a more advanced game. He's had trouble with the tactics involved in high level soccer.
  10. Ideally? A full strength Charlie Davies. I've been hoping for a miracle comeback since his car accident. He brought a different dimension to our attack with his speed. I really hope Gomez or Buddle can come out of nowhere and show enough to play up front, but I have a feeling Bradley will stick Dempsey up top and throw someone else in as an outside MF.
  11. First thing I would say in response to that is what about basketball? You'd have a 27 team league. (Marquette, Seton Hall, Georgetown, St. John's, Providence and DePaul don't have football programs, and Villanova is FCS) Interesting idea though.
  12. My very quick, skimming, interpretation of the NCAA rules on that is that they can take academic scholarships, but they still count against the # of scholarships (total amount of money) available to that sport. So the 12 (I believe) in basketball or the 85 in football. You also cannot give someone a track scholarship (or any sport I believe) and then have them play football in hopes that it wouldn't count against the football scholarships. Not sure how it works with someone who would want to play football and basketball. In the end this should probably be in the NCAA basketball thread, but I'm just throwing it out there because of the last few posts. (I'm not a lawyer by any means and I didn't have time to fully read and analyze everything, so I could be wrong...)
  13. The All Star game is in Anaheim, home of Disneyland. Hence the Disney tie-in.
  14. Have an extra from Sunday's game. Would prefer to trade for Braun or Brat bobbles from 2009 (stupid unemployment not allowing me to buy tickets), if I don't get any takers for those I'll take any of the others.
  15. I feel like the Bernie Brewer bobblehead from last night's game is going to jump off of my bookshelf at work and attack me. Those green eyes are going to give me nightmares.
  16. Just so this doesn't become an AT&T bashing thread (I have US Cellular, so I think I can be unbiased), Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile all have versions of the same thing/idea. Verizon's is called the Network Extender, Sprint's is the AIRAVE, and T-Mobile's is called @HOME. All of these are designed to be used inside your house where you can't get a decent 3G connection, not exactly just an AT&T problem. AT&T definitely has a lack of coverage outside of cities, I can't argue with that. (edit: fixed link in quote --1992)
  17. I was all ready to show off my Disney World knowledge, then I read through the posts from bork and FVBrewerFan and yeah... I don't have much let for you that'll be new. I've done both the on-site and off-site routes. If you can afford it, I'd definitely go on-site, and I'll echo the moderate class resort route. I stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and it was great, surprisingly quiet for being on-site. Other things I'll echo without going into detail: 1. Get there early. 2. Park Hopping 3. Disboards.com (any question you could come up with has been asked there numerous times over) 4. Princess Breakfast (MUST for a girl that age, sure the food won't be worth the price, but the pictures will be priceless) As far as things to do for her, EPCOT will probably have the least (there are still things to do, but I feel that EPCOT plays mainly to an older audience). Also don't plan every day out to the minute, go with the flow. The only other thing that I have that hasn't been said is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Once again, not cheap, but she'll love it.
  18. I realize why the rule is there, but come on, the guy is headed up the ice, looking back towards the puck, and leaning down. CHECKING IS ALLOWED! I lived for opportunities to line people up like that... IN PRACTICE! The rule is there for a reason, a hit like that was not one of them.
  19. The highlight of my drive to and from work is seeing how much snow has melted at University Ridge. I got a completely new set of golf clubs during the winter (thankfully it only cost me the insurance deductable) that I've been waiting very impatiently to use...
  20. Yesterday was my last day at my day job, this morning I ordered tickets to all of the bobblehead games, tonight is my last shift at my night job, and Monday I start a great job. All of this comes after 7 months of unemployment and 6 months of 60-70 hour weeks just to survive and save a little bit of money for a wedding. I think it's safe to say I'm just about on cloud nine.
  21. Even better, save for having to get there early to make sure i get them...
  22. For those in the Madison area (or those willing to travel), I noticed on the Mallards website today that they have 3 sets of 5 packs including one with tickets to all 5 of the Mallards bobblehead giveaways (I can't guarantee there will only be five, but based on previous years this seems like a decent guess). The cost is $65 per package. Two great benefits to these, first, guaranteed bobblehead! It says they'll be sending you a voucher that you can take to the game and it will allow you to get a bobblehead, therefore eliminating the need to get there early for the limited bobble giveaways. Second, for an hour during each game you get all you can eat/drink burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, soda and water. Just thought I'd pass that along, I have my two tickets and I'm super excited.
  23. I'm in again. The job front is changing at the beginning of March for the (much) better. So I will have a little more time to play, and hopefully not lay an egg like I did Sunday night. Hard to play well when you haven't picked up the game in 2 weeks...
  24. If gmoney is the Packers then I still have his number, shows how much time I've had to devote to video games... I can barely remember these thngs. I'm gonna get slaughtered...
  25. Just a forewarning, there's about a 1% chance I'll be able to play before Sunday, between my two jobs I'm scheduled for about 70 hours between now and Saturday. So unless gmoney is free to play Wednesday morning... It'll be Sunday at the earliest.
