  1. It's the 5th inning. Let Freddy stand there. You PH in the 7th, not there. Hate the call but of course our execution is even worse. As many said the offense is going to kill this team. They're good enough to go really far if having a good stretch, but when they are bad they make games virtually unwinnable. You can hang this on CC if we blow it in the next 2 innings. Of course if we score 0 again, I could have thrown a complete game and given up 30 runs.
  2. I watch these games on a stream, but I've seen this ad with Kershaw talking about what he's throwing no less than 400 times in 2 games of this series.
  3. No. Sorry, but this is a thing. It's acceptable for some players to OPS .730, and not acceptable for others.
  4. Willing to give it more than an inning but this feels like one of those stretches where the game is over if we go down 0-2. Basically what every Brewers fan feared, the offensive disappearing completely for the worst possible 5 days.
  5. Continue to bat Yelich at all is a bad move. I'd feel better with Taylor at this point.
  6. At least work some counts today. Can we not have the opposing pitcher with 60 pitches in the 6th inning?
  7. I know you're kidding buuuut I guarantee McPherson doesn't feel great about his job security today compared to yesterday. He's a rookie. It doesn't take a lot of rookie struggles for a team to just go find another kicker. Roberto Aguayo was a talented enough kicker for a team to spend a 2nd round pick on him and yet once he started struggling it pretty much immediately killed his career before it started. As yesterday showed though, even trusted veteran kickers are not immune to bad days of missing multiple clutch kicks. And conversely, just because you're an unproven kicker doesn't mean you can't be trusted with a clutch kick. With that said, they'll stand by McPherson -- for now. He's made some clutch kicks this season, so he's already shown he can do that. But if he had one more game like yesterday, I can guarantee you three would at least be discussion of moving on. Such is the life of an NFL kicker with little professional track record. Now, Crosby's track record will and should buy him a pass. It would take another day like yesterday before he'd really start turning heads, and probably a 3rd day like it before they would really consider moving on. Track record and a patient team are two very important things to the longevity of an NFL kicker. If you don't have either you had better get over your yips very quickly if you get them. Tough job. You can't have too many bad days at the office. You get 1 day like that. After 2 there's a serious problem, track record or not. Especially for a contending team. He's going to have to hit more game winners this season.
  8. I missed the game, looked like an exciting one. Watched the recap. Just a very odd day. I give Mason a mulligan, four of them I guess. I mean 6 missed kicks between 2 guys. Just a weird one you're lucky to escape and never think about again.
  9. The feeling the fans have is directly related to watching a team lose for 3 weeks. In 2018 we went from hoping for a Wild Card to going on a tear to overtake a division in 163. We had to win every last game. The entire month of Sept. was a heart attack. You're on a literal dopamine high when the season ends, and we felt unbeatable. You're addicted to it and want it to keep going so much, that you simply believe it will. There is no dopamine right now. We were on cruise control for 3 weeks. Burnes goes 6 shutout innings winning tomorrow and we win 3-0 in front of a bunch of loud fans, all the dopamine will be back overnight.
  10. I'm probably the only person loving the noon Monday road game. House to myself at that time.
  11. The combination of a state where the outdoors are available most of the year, thus drawing all kinds of entertainment options + a huge amount of transplants does not make for feverish support of sports teams. SoCal has the same kind of thing going, but they have far more iconic franchises.
  12. Strongly prefer to face the Giants if we're lucky enough to make another LCS. I just can't see us beating the Dodgers 4/7. AL, don't care really. I guess the White Sox if that's who drives up the market for 1-2 WS games I inevitably won't be able to make. The AL field have all been successful recently and Tampa would have to have fans before they could be suffering.
  13. I can't get rid of the pair I have tomorrow. I may end up showing up late, after my obligation. I thought this would be a low-interest game, but it's even worse than I thought it would be.
  14. I thought the way his foot appeared to hit something and reposition made it as clear as possible given the view that he did just barely hit the corner. At the least I don't know how anyone could call it a lucky break. There was no way you could overturn that. You couldn't even see it.
  15. Baseball's weird but I don't see STL getting out of this. I think they needed to have a couple run lead when Wainwright left.
  16. Cain has been there, done that; Wong has had a few big moments in the postseason, same for Woody and (to a slightly lesser extent) Burnes. Hader has certainly had his postseason ups (and downs). But that is really it, and the rest of this group is untested. I can live with that. The Brewers aren't (and will never be able to be) the 90's Yankees or current Dodgers where everybody up and down the lineup seems to be a grizzled postseason vet. For context…Hader let up zero runs in 2020 in 1 1/3 innings. Zero runs in 2018 in 7 appearances. So the down must be the weird wild card game? That’s his only runs he’s allowed in 3 years of postseason games for him. 1.46 era for career postseason. Yeah, iirc he also blew a save right at the end of the 2019 season that made the WC a road game or something like that. Kinda fuzzy on it.
  17. Seems like a bit of an odd move.
  18. I feel confident the Cards are going to need more than 1 run and probably at least 4.
  19. That was huge. I think it's ball game if LA gets a couple in there.
  20. The Cards bullpen would normally get exposed in a series, but in one game it's far easier to hide.
  21. I'm all in. Send the Cards to the NLCS and avenge a lot of losing by taking out the Cardinals.
  22. Any Brewers fan hoping the Dodgers win this game is nuts. I don't care what the history is, getting the Cardinals in the NLCS is by FAR the best thing that can happen for us.
  23. That giant head behind the plate, lol
