  1. I haven't put this game away in the slightest but is there anyway 4:07 Thursday gets moved? I have soccer practice at...5:00.
  2. You're really reaching here. How exactly? You're up 2-0 with a guy throwing well, not great, but well, with 1 out, and you advance the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Your best hitter ends up batting with the bases loaded. Or going with Strickland? I don't get it. There was not some egregiously bad managerial call in this inning. You had a potential for a 3rd run simply by putting the ball in play, which would have been enormous. You have all hands on deck today, and your best case was 1 inning + out of Lauer. Sorry, I'm just not going to agree on this one This is playoff baseball, not a regular season game in June. I'm more ok with yesterday's decision on pulling Peralta to try to score. And I really don't think Lauer was throwing particularly well today. Sometimes you get away with it and it's not reflected on the scoreboard (well until now). The runners were at 1st and 2nd, "putting in the ball in play" could have just as easily been another awesome GIDP or a very likely K. What offense have you been watching? Sorry, I can't get past the revisionist history of harshly criticizing a decision that put Adames at the plate with the bases juiced. That's exactly what you wanted to have happen. He struck out.

  4. Hated when he made that move even though I was in the minority. Runs are so premium right now and we left one on the board all for 2 more outs of Lauer. I dunno, I thought it was fine. It's not like the PH we use is a guarantee of a much better result. I'd have shot for the upside of Lauer getting through 5 or 6, and then we still had Adames up with the bases loaded. It was still very favorable for us.
  5. I hated pulling Peralta but I think this was different and the right call. After the 2nd run scored it was a no-brainer.
  6. If we don't score here, and then hang a donut on this pen for 5 innings, I'm at peace with the result. It would be so inept and pathetic that going home is exactly what we deserve.
  7. I wasn't overly concerned with the Brewers not winning so-called meaningless September games, but my position for months was that the offense, not the pitching, would dictate what kind of run we get. The way this offense has looked at times, that doomsday scenario was always out there.
  8. This series is squarely on the players. They can't hit the ball and it hasn't really mattered who it is.
  9. Yes it does matter, at least it does once you start retroactively punishing people with today's standards of discipline. Doesn't look like it was quite the case with Gruden, but it has happened to others, including dead people.
  10. I think they did us a favor and Lauer has earned this start. If we don't hit and lose again, that's baseball.
  11. I don't think many are going to argue for starting Burnes. The best outcome is forcing G5 which he then can't throw in, which is basically saying we don't trust the other guy today...but hey, go get'm in Game 5. Like I said, if we had Marcum going today, it's a different story. But forcing Burnes to pitch today is just taking the luxury of how this team is constructed and making things harder on yourself.
  12. Morton throwing today sort of feels like giving us a break. I have to wonder that if this is close, do we see Fried too? It would be insane to see both of them throw in a loss. If we can get one back today you have to like our chances.
  13. Sorry, but I get annoyed with these kinds of posts which basically are telling people how to be fans. This isn't a 70-win team. It's a team that could have won 100 games if they chose to. Most of us know the Brewers chances to win a title or at least MAKE a World Series are fleeting. Because we're upset with a potential lost opportunity doesn't mean we can't ALSO have fun watching Carlos Gomez on a 70-win team. Expectations are a factor and everything is relative. This is (nearly) our 3rd 90 win season in 4 years. Expectations are higher, so I won't apologize for being really disappointed IF they go out in 4 games in the NLDS scoring 2-3 runs in 4 games. They were a better team than that, luck is involved and they will have had a bad luck week at the wrong time. I don't think this is such an extreme concept. Nobody was really upset when Philly stomped us in '08, but they will be now. It's a completely different set of circumstances, and a perfectly healthy reaction once you've achieved some success and want to hit the next rung on the ladder.
  14. My thoughts exactly. IMO with a loss today, this team is 'fart in the wind' fodder. A less exciting finish than 2008, a team that had the distinction of making us respectable again. We've had 3 good teams in the past 4 years; it's totally natural to feel how we do at this point. It's time to get over the hump. Winning divisions isn't satisfying anymore. I'm too young for '82, I grew up on ONLY losing and I still feel this way. Time to get over the hump? Since their last World Series win the Yankees have been in 9 of 12 postseasons without so much as a WS appearance. Since their last World Series win the Cardinals have made 7 of 10 postseason with a lone WS loss their best result. The stacked Nationals needed five postseason trips in eight years before they got over the hump. The even more stacked Dodgers needed eight postseasons & a pandemic weirdened season to get over the hump. The Brewers are just getting started, expecting them to get over the postseason hump on an accelerated timetable compared to what organizations with more resources & talent did is probably setting one's self up for disappointment. And the Giants won 3 titles in 6 years. The Royals made back-to-back World Series. The Rays have made 2. I don't think it's some prerequisite that we have to fail 6 times in the NLDS or LCS. I've seen this team make the playoffs 5 times in 13 years, not counting last year's debacle. Making the playoffs is no longer exciting the way it was in 2008. Losing today would be an enormous disappointment and, for me, make this year pretty forgettable.
  15. I think you consider Burnes if your #4 is Jeff Suppan or something but that is not the scenario. We have a #4 who has played like a very good #2 so you go with the horse who got you here. If he doesn't pitch well, he doesn't, but there is nothing wrong with trusting him at this point. You have your ace for the finale if it works. Forcing him to throw on short rest just kicks today's "problem" down the road. And I don't think you can say Woodruff can play Game 5. At this point Woodruff isn't Burnes. He has clearly been less effective. Lauer is the right play I think, and you go with Burnes at home in G5. If we have to use Burnes in relief, this thing has probably already gone sideways.
  16. If you care about saving at all, find someone (not a random CL ad), Facebook marketplace or some place you know who they actually are. You can both save money and the seller can increase margins by cutting out the middleman's insane fees. If not wanting to deal with any of that, StubHub is safe. And my Chase credit cards often have $50 off SH purchase offers, so check for those and add to card if applicable.
