  1. There's jostling for position like that on most contested catches. Sometimes it's called, sometimes it's not. He got beat, move on.
  2. You need your star CB to make that play, offsides not withstanding. Nothing schematic about a footrace with your best corner that he loses. Push-off was soft at best.
  3. I think the Packers defense is probably middling and will rely on turnovers this year but I don't think it's nearly as bad as Pittsburgh's offense.
  4. I'd say meaningless games are literally the best time to do that.
  5. They're human beings and I don't care what anyone says, when you essentially lock your division up 6 weeks before the end of the season, it affects how you approach the final stretch or games. LA is playing to avoid a single elimination game. I just can't read into our play at all until we're playing Atlanta. It just doesn't matter. Some record padding at the end doesn't mean anything. There's a 4-day layoff either way.
  6. Fansided is especially lame at this, but they all love throwing clickbait "beef" headlines on obvious jokes and call it "throwing shade."
  7. I couldn't tell you why, but the '96 title is a lot more memorable to me than the one in 2010. And I was 9 in 1996, so it wasn't like I'd been long suffering. I think it might be because I expected a couple more after 2010 and it never happened. After '97 when they lost, I never felt like the Packers were a real contender until a while later. There have been some good games with Pitt though. I remember a thriller we lost at home with Matt Flynn too.
  8. I agree. I think the posters above are right, the odds are very low, if even on the map as a possibility. Let's say he goes 7/10 this weekend with two dingers. If you're in control, would you leave him off the roster? And as historically awful JBJ has been at the plate, I just don't think you can leave him off a postseason roster. He is just too good defensively.
  9. If he came up and looked good even for 3 games, like actually good, I would have an awfully hard time leaving him off the roster on this offense.
  10. He could make everyone forget how bad he's been with like one good week. The magic of October.
  11. It sucks but to me, this team's fate was always going to be determined by whether or not the offenses vanishes for a few days in October. They've had skids this year that would make it impossible to win no matter how well Devin Williams plays. The backbone is the pitching, for sure, but the weeks where they score 8 total runs can't happen now.
  12. What thread have you been reading?
  13. I think some are reading way too much into this as far as their long term plans with Williams. I doubt it affected those at all. If they were planning to trade him or Hader they will do it anyway and if they valued cheap, elite talent, he's staying. Stearns is too rational to send a guy packing because of one horrible but criminally victimless moment off the field.
  14. I think someone will have to fail, probably at least twice (or two guys once), before Hader throws 2 innings.
  15. I agree with this does not make sense He said he had too much to drink at the celebration and something upset him later. For all we know he went home drunk from the celebration and got in a fight with a girlfriend and punched a wall.
  16. I sorta feel like if he gets traded, it was probably gonna happen anyway.
  17. I don't get the big deal about booing him. Guys get booed all the time. If you're an angry fan, go ahead and boo. Who cares. What does it accomplish? Probably as much as any other fan activity.
  18. Everyone who partied in college knew that one guy who would be great sloppy fun after 7 drinks and then start berating people and slamming things after 8. Then wake up and not even know he got mad the night before. Don't know if that's Devin Williams, but sometimes stuff like this really is as simple as he got really drunk beyond comprehension and punched a wall.
  19. Probably just in denial and hoping it was sore and he could cover it up and not talk about it. I wasn't assuming he had a drinking problem before, but that is hugely symptomatic of that kind of issue. Don't know if it's a bigger problem or just a younger guy that has some growing up to do. The way the club handled it seems more like the latter. I don't think it necessarily means the Brewers are done with him though. Too good for MKE to cast off just because of this. Doesn't mean they won't either though. DS will do what's best for the team, I don't think he'll do something emotional.
  20. The FO will make the best call for the team. Booing is fair game to me. They're adults who make lots of money to just show up. You can boo the action and what this caused for the team. It's not like booing a guy is some condemnation of his soul. It sucks. But it shouldn't be insurmountable for this team.
  21. That's what is a bit troubling. Average Joe doesn't usually key his own truck or something. Speculating is all we are doing now but feels like some other issue is the gasoline and then alcohol is the match.
  22. So empathize, but boo? Tough love? Basically. I tend to lean more toward the latter with someone Devin's age, but just saying I see where jason is coming from.
  23. I didn't suggest he was an alcoholic, and please don't do that. A bigger issue could be anything from yes, alcoholism, to a fight with a significant other or relative that was flared by alcohol.
