  1. Agree that the problem isn't Giannis, but pretending the 2/3 thing is just semantics isn't honest. The Bucks need a player with a good handle that can create scoring opportunities AND shoot himself when nothing's there. Bledsoe isn't it and that's not what Middleton does. I have no problem at all with Middleton, he fills an important role. But the issue looms large on the nights he scores 11 points, because he's not a PG creating offense for other guys. If Middleton isn't scoring he's not really doing anything else.
  2. How does a team that didn't really lose anything of note personnel wise in the offseason (besides maybe Bulaga) take a 6-game swing record-wise? And who are you saying are the 3rd and 4th best options? Allison and Kumerow? Graham? Those guys are very, very replaceable. I mean, I understand the idea that last year's team perhaps outperformed its talent level, but 7-9? Really? Well, they did exactly this, a 7-game swing actually, the year Rodgers replaced Favre. It would be easy to say that was a huge change, but Rodgers played quite well and surely did not account for 7 losses. I think it's a relevant comparison because that Packers team in 07 was received much the same way the '19 team was. One that came out of nowhere, "overachieved," had a lot of young guys, and a lot of skepticism. In '08, they had truly miserable luck, losing 7 of their 10 losses by 4 points or less. If Rodgers is healthy I think this team is too good to win 7 games, but nothing in football really surprised me. An unlucky year where a few key guys get hurt and you drop those toss-up games and going 8-8 just wouldn't be terribly shocking.
  3. Over their heads isn't the verbiage I would use but they got lucky in that literally every one of those "either way" games bounced in their favor with the exception of Philly and Adams getting hurt. They deserve some credit for that but in a normal year you'd drop some of those. They got really lucky last year. Even the draw they got for the playoffs was lucky and sort of falling into the 2 seed. I think the way SF embarrassed them twice spoke volumes, but it's a new year. Football is so volatile nobody's ups and downs really surprise me anymore. It's why I don't bother considering the schedule.
  4. I don't know that it's this year, but I still feel like Rodgers will have at least one old-man resurgence year where he throws 38 TDs again. I don't know that they have the weapons for it yet, but maybe.
  5. Idk what to think of them. My head says heavy regression because they were such an unimpressive 13-3. But maybe the rebuilding of the roster for a couple seasons has paid off. I'm excited to see Dillon play and what kind of jump Allen Lazard takes. I'll be optimistic and say 11-5.
  6. I really doubt the bubble playoffs are the tipping point. I have a feeling he's known the move he's making for quite some time. Whatever happened in the off period, the team that showed up in Orlando wasn't the same one we watched all year. I'm not sure they would have beaten any of the 3 other teams on the second round. They were just bad.
  7. Unfortunately the consequences of it are very likely to extend beyond just being eliminated today. They didn't quit as evidenced in Game 4 but Game 5 completely fit the narrative of Giannis just not having a #2 here. No it is the Bucks don't have a #3 option. Bledsoe is garbage and needs to be traded as soon as this season ends. Middleton is a 3. A shooter that isn't a reliable enough scorer to generate his own offense. They're masquerading him as a 2 and paying him like one, but he's a superb #3.
  8. I don't think Brogdon would solve anything plaguing this team. Not the special handle they are lacking and not the shooter Middleton is. I don't think there was an organizational failure either. I know it's easy to kick when down, but the Bucks were supremely dominant before the bubble. They adjusted to it poorly for reasons we may never know. Maybe it was attitude, maybe it was coaching, maybe the energy just wasn't there. I'll never believe the result of this series is the same of the Bucks open at a sold out Fiserv. Just absolutely brutal timing for any Bucks fan. Sad, stinks, but I'm just not ready to call anything that unfolds in this circus act an organizational failure. This was a wrench beyond anything anyone could have predicted and they just never got it going.
  9. We had a week to digest it. But one of the most disappointing sports things I can remember. This was such a fun team this year before all the mess.
  10. No reason they can't win. Same team that rattled off a bunch of a consecutive wins against good teams. If Miami can beat the Bucks 3 straight, they can do the same. This was a 70 win team at one point.

  12. It's about time. Probably too late.

  14. The SJW stuff is low-hanging fruit to explain away a team that was thoroughly outplayed from the jump. There's no reason you couldn't boycott a game and win a series. Sorry I just think it's a really lame scapegoat. The two things are perfectly capable of coexisting.

  16. I don't have the blueprint, but I've heard this so many times from so many teams and when there is a will, there's a way. There are salary dumps all the time in the NBA. I don't know what they could do or what's out there, but they might as well trade Giannis if the plan is just to run it back. Last year was their chance to do it with this squad. They would have run that banged up GS team out of the building. Time to change the plan.
  17. Curious about one thing. Before the season I said I considered Bud on the hot seat if the Bucks didn't win the East. Basically everyone jumped down my throat over that. I don't think there's any way he's fired given the bubble situation, but do you still think he's not on the hot seat? I sure as hell do. Let's assume Giannis does sign a supermax, which is a big assumption. I do not think Bud coaching in 2022 is anywhere near a given.
  18. Giannis would be crazy to sign the supermax unless all he wants is the most money right now. Imo the Bucks can't trade him either. You have to do something drastic now to take your shot next season. If he leaves so be it. Trading him for some guy and a pick isn't getting the Bucks a title. This is it. Next year is your last shot.
  19. Middleton is an ideal 3rd option. They paid him to be a 2nd option for lack of choices. I don't blame them much since it was probably crucial to any shot at Giannis staying. But, as of now, the lack of a shot is hurting Giannis. I know he and LeBron aren't the same player, but he had a similarly weak jumper early in his career. It evolved in to being fairly solid and is a big reason he's been able to at least make several Finals with some extremely meh role players. You can't just let him stand alone at 18-ft and wall off the paint like you can with Giannis. I agree with everything about the lack of a true PG though.
  20. I don't think it's crappy, meh is more fitting. It's obviously intensely co-branded with the current AF logo.
  21. It's gone better than I could have expected after 2 days. I was worried about the reality of what school is now clashing with what it was last year. but my first grader said it was 'the best day ever' after day 1 and when we had a chat about the possibility of things closing again, he burst into tears at the thought of not being in his new class. It's up to the Gods. The school has done a remarkable job keeping everyone apart in the building and at drop-off/pickup. It won't be their fault if something happens. I've sensed nothing but enthusiasm and a willingness to make it work from the school staff.
  22. It would be ironic. He wanted Middleton and everyone else back, then trurn around and say sorry you guys suck I'm outta here. Especially ironic when you consider he's part of the reason they're losing. He's part of the reason they're losing as far as the fact that he's on the team. But we all know what Giannis is. A medicore shooter, a meh free throw shooter, but a prolific scorer. The "wall" doesn't work with one guy like Klay Thompson on the team. I won't blame him for leaving if it's to pair with better firepower. A wall in the paint shouldn't kill a team like it does to the Bucks. I don't pin much of this on him. They're just a medicore shooting team; they were all year if you look at the 3s. Giannis isn't a versatile enough player to carry a team to a title. He's an awesome player, but his offense never truly rounded out the way LeBron's did, where he became a good enough long range shooter that you have to at least respect him from out there.
  23. I mean, they're not toast, since they still have a loss to spare. The way that one ended gives me some hope, but they have a matchup issue that isn't going to be resolved without some creativity.
  24. It has the feel of one of those Giants-Packers playoff games where you sense it isn't flukey and they are just getting beat straight up. Nothing I've seen thus far has really inspired me to think the Bucks fan win this series. I dunno. Think they're in big trouble.
  25. I think Giannis would be nuts to come back if they do end up eliminated here. I wouldn't blame him one bit. I love Giannis, but I'm beginning to comp him to Shaq in that he's too one dimensional a player without a second star. We've been masquerading Middleton as that, but I don't think anyone really buys it.
