  1. He's not completely wrong. A lot of mainstream journalism is trash. I agree with what you are saying, but the distinction on what is "science" and "research" has also been blurred. If you haven't seen the documentary on Evergreen College I strongly encourage watching it. No reason to believe what happens in the film is an isolated event. Basically I'm just saying really nothing can be taken at face value anymore and that includes academia.
  2. My friends in Georgia are sure they had it at thanksgiving. All the symptoms, knocked out for a week+. When able they’re going in to see if they have antibodies. Have more than a couple friends that were sick with the same thing in Nov/Dec. What is that going to tell them? They could have gotten it and been asymptomatic in all these months after Thanksgiving. I don't know what was going around in November, but it wasn't coronavirus. Way too many people are trying to make a similar claim. As Homer said it would have blown up way sooner than it did if it was actually coronavirus going around. Thanksgiving is probably a bit early, but I think at this point it's obvious the "first reported cases" in March were about 2 months slow. The antibody rates spilling out of places are making it pretty clear way more people had this way earlier than thought. Every time I read one of these reports I'm more and more convinced I had it at the end of February. I realize this is bumping a 3-week old post but I don't believe for one second that the first case of COVID19 at the spot of the country's busiest airport happened in March. I think more than a few people who think they had this in January and February did have it.
  3. And AA to the list of places requires masks for customers now. I was supposed to go to the Jersey shore in June but I doubt that's happening. Waiting on an official word the boardwalks and beaches are closed but that feels like a formality at this point. I'd wear the stupid mask if required but this is all starting to feel like safety theater.
  4. OK. Visit any of their social media pages to realize how incorrect you are.
  5. They didn't "whine," they just contacted their SSH rep, said they would really prefer a cash refund, and were immediately given one. I don't have an issue at all with people getting refunds. I just see it as pointless in my situation when I know I will renew anyway and the 10% credit is of more value to me. I've not heard of anyone being denied a refund at any point after MLB allowed them. Someone who blasted the team on social media or called up angry rather than just asking for what they wanted politely, should probably re-evaluate themselves. I only find myself defending the club because they have historically treated their fans far better than most and they deserve a bit of goodwill in my opinion. My rep has never been anything other than accommodating to me. I am happy to make their lives just one small bit easier, although I acknowledge I am in a position to do right now. If people need their money, fine. Just ask before you hang them in the town square.
  6. If I had a criticism about it, it's actually that. The alternative is the show not existing though. I went to J-School, so as I watch it I feel a lot of the same things, that Jordan has too much creative input. He wouldn't otherwise do the show, though. I think it is possible to make something in this context and still have it be pretty fair, but if you're adhering to the laws of journalism, Burns is absolutely correct. I'm not sure this qualifies as journalism, though.
  7. What it seems like to me is that people such as yourself look silly for blowing a gasket and now that the very predictable refunds are offered you're doubling down on the team's evilness instead of just conceding that you probably overreacted to a very normal policy of refunds available upon request, and the minimal amount of problem-solving on your end would have prevented the entire thing in the first place. A week ago the Brewers had no autonomy to issue refunds per MLB. They didn't realize any folly and they were always going to issue refunds.
  8. If it bleeds it leads.
  9. Over here, after policy was announced all we did was ask for one while checking our options. If someone is calling up angry to the ticket department, that person should probably settle down and evaluate their own actions. Not the way to handle customer service who are just doing their jobs with the information they are given. If you're upset with policy then play your game to those that can actually affect it. I have no problem at all with the way the Brewers are handling this. Of course they want to keep the tickets sales and offer credit. You make it sound like they want the money and not provide the entertainment. How many people who are upset even checked with the ticket department prior to taking up arms? I'm guessing not many at all because they would already have processed their refund and kept on living their lives. Ding ding! The answer is zero! Because like all things on social media, your problem is solved 95% of the time with a phone call or email directly to the organization. This isn't any different than the person whose first course of action is an angry Facebook review about an overcooked burger, rather than just asking the manager for another one on site. It took them less than a day to publicly advertise refunds. Less than one day!
  10. I never contacted the team about a refund because I have no interest in one. I have multiple friends who did contact their rep for a refund on Wednesday and were granted one. I don't know what the secondary market has to do with this at all. It has nothing to do with it, but you are obsessed with stalking me on that topic. I don't "have my hands" in it. I sell tickets I can't use. Try to stick to the topic at hand and avoid your random stubhub tangents. "Aren't you all for individuals having rights over their own game tickets? Or do you consider these April games team money and simply nonrefundable?" You got your money back. I told you on page 1 that you would. It was obvious to anyone with an ounce of patience that would happen. What exactly are you still on that for? You don't have a point. You were literally never told you couldn't get a refund. I do find this particularly delicious as it relates to you, specifically, though. Mr. Loyalty Arbiter #1, lauding the Cubs and pitchforking for his money back on April 30. You've lost your little "loyalty" high horse, permanently. Please don't tell anybody to "be a true fan" ever again.
  11. They never told.....TOLD anyone "no refunds"? The refund option was not written anywhere in the official team ticket return policy for March/April games on Wednesday. You are literally saying that you or someone you knew got a refund on Wednesday by asking, correct? If that's true, the team is still missing the point in all this. The team made a poor, calculated PR move, in my opinion... they corrected it. The team was so far out in left field on this one. I hand it to you, though.... loyal fan to the end. Anyone who contacted the team themselves Wednesday was told to fill out the form. At no point did they deny refunds. So it is not accurate to say they said "no refunds." The existence of the refund form on Wednesday makes it pretty obvious their first memo was never intended to be the last word. You can get a refund and it is advertised within 24 hours of the team having the power to do so. What are you still whining about? And this has nothing to do with me being a loyal fan. It's about a bunch of adults flipping out way prematurely as if this is a very predictable and normal situation for a company to be in. But I do wish they somehow could penalize everyone leaving dumb comments on their facebook. They're not as petty as I would be.
  12. That isn't true. You could get the refunds yesterday by asking. They never told anyone "no refunds" to my knowledge. Stop pushing this evil team agenda. People were overreacting to a fluid situation.
  13. You can get refunds now. Breathe.
  14. This is the plan. They had no autonomy to offer refunds until yesterday. I think they were holding out hope that by 5/1 MLB would have a date for a game, ST, something. Instead they got MLB throwing the hot potato back to them. The announcement yesterday was out of necessity because the rest of the country knew they COULD offer refunds. They are stuck in the unenviable spot of knowing they need to refund money at some point, but they don't want to do that only for a plan to come out on May 15th. The reality of human behavior is that if they offer the refunds now vs. after a schedule announcement, they'll lose more money. If some people have the option to roll credit for announced games, they'll do it. My first posts in this thread were that they would come up with ways to incentivize them keeping your money. Once those are exhausted, refunds will be offered to those who want them. I think that is still the case. I don't think they formulated their 10% offer yesterday afternoon. That was always phase 1 of the crisis response and probably was formulated a month ago.
  15. ^The margins in a lot of industries is something that the public really doesn't have an awareness of for the most part. On a $100 transaction my company profits like $8.
  16. I guess I don't see waiting a couple weeks for more info before rolling out a solidified plan as reason to riot but I am apparently in the minority. I feel with about 99% certainty that the policy they've announced isn't the final one and that people who want their money back will be able to get it. I know this sentiment won't go over well but refunding tickets is much less of a big deal to the Cardinals, Cubs and Red Sox. I saw that the Twins are also offering single-game refunds but that the Indians policy was very similar to MKE's. I just think that the team is hoping for a full picture of what they're facing before making a refund announcement. At a certain point the calendar will force their hand though. I don't believe for a second that they won't offer any refunds, though. If it comes to that I'll criticize with everyone else. They were given the power to issue refunds by MLB yesterday. It's been one day.
  17. Halting cash flow from millions or billions per month to 0 overnight is going to wreak havoc regardless of what reserves a company has. Companies of that size plan for slow economies but they don't plan for going from gangbusters to near 0 in one night, which is what happened to places like Kohl's. The sales they thought they could depend on are already earmarked for spending. Fortune 500 companies can't grow or operate with a billion dollars in a checking account. Also, I know the large corporations are evil is a big thing now but those companies employ millions of people at good wages. It's not good for them to fail.
  18. You wouldn't get a refund for a rainout, so I find it quite a reach to expect a refund at this point in time. Without any announcement on the schedule or season that is basically what they're working with. They're still clinging to a small hope of playing these games. People need to put their pitchforks away until something is actually set in stone, which nothing is even close to happening yet. It is a massive overreaction to be calling the team greedy thieves etc. right now.
  19. It really makes no difference whether it's injury or a guy who just sucks. At the end of the day it's a 1st rounder that isn't helping.
  20. People counting on their ticket money for necessities shouldn't have significant funds tied up in baseball games. A harsh truth but a truth nonetheless. It will all be moot. This is an evolving policy and the news on the season goes in seven directions a day. When they have actual information to work with, they'll adjust accordingly. They are in the same touch and go world as all of us right now.
  21. They're not going to offer a rollover credit on single game sales for 2021 on April 30 without word the season is cancelled. Why on Earth would they do that and risk games happening in July? This policy will change as this keeps going. May is done. Fans at games in June sounds like a stretch. Possibly any fans at all this year sounds like a stretch. But people are just going to have to be patient.
  22. They didn't mention May either, which many clubs did. The lack of refunds doesn't surprise me though. They're clinging to hope there is a season and they can get as many people as possible to use the credits. Refunds will be a last resort.
  23. I don't think this is the final version of this. They will have to adjust if no games take place. They are quite obviously hoping there are games there in July, August or whenever so they can hang on to every dollar they can. People still clinging to refunds when there's been no direction at all from the league are just asking to be disappointed.
  24. I have no issue with people selling tickets but nobody is forced into taking a loss. If you bought a ticket to Opening Day that is what you're entitled to. You're not entitled to a sweet resale market. They'll address Opening Day differently in the likely event it never occurs this season.
  25. Hot off the presses for games 3/28 through 4/30: "In accordance with our ticket policy, Season Seat Holders will receive a credit equal to the purchased value of your tickets. Additionally, Season Seat Holders will receive a 10% bonus credit. (If your account was credited for tickets valued at $200, you will receive a total credit of $220.) All credits can be used towards 2020 single game ticket purchases and/or applied to your 2021 season renewal invoice. You will also receive an offer to purchase tickets to select games at the Season Renewal price. More information on this benefit will be provided to you." Of special note: "For those currently in possession of an Opening Day ticket, originally scheduled for Thursday, March 26, please hold on to your ticket. Your Opening Day ticket will be honored for the first regular season home game played at Miller Park in 2020."
